Pratice 7 notes

Even Saban has had a dose of reality and is transitioning to more nickel and dime stuff.

You can't trot out these massive front 7s and stay in a base 3-4 alignment when teams are splitting out 4 or 5 wide.

It's the behavior of a severely mentally challenged or stubborn individual.

So fiah corch Saban and change his schemezzz? Oh... He's transitioning because you just pulled some BS out of thin air and now it's fact for all the mopes to use. Brilliant!

Nice how you clowns just throw out some BS as facts. One could argue that his transitioning kept him from the National Championship this year and he should have stayed in the base more if your BS was actually based on fact. But let's not even entertain the idea that what you said is true unless you can back it up. Link or it's pure BS at its finest from one of the village mopes.

Where are the "4-3" base scheemzz experts out there? There is now a new "nickel and dime" crew who wants their scheemz used more? LMAO, cannot make this stuff up. The D cord guru's are out in full force, dissecting ONE play......ONE play and using that as the example for the entire season. And to top it off, can't even agree on what personnel should have been used on that ONE play. :ibisroflmao:

Because playing spread teams and being in base is retarded.

But thanks for the input.

So are you saying teams don't run out of the spread?

He 's less of a liability then some green db who probably doesn't know what zone he is responsible for. Who do you think those OC's who get paid a lot of money go after first? The green db!
Or Williams could just get a young DB ready to play. What other teams in America are having 260 lb players lined up like that?
We'll trade you Dorito for Muschamp
No deal. I also dont think that would fix the problem. People keep putting this on Dorito but Al Golden is a defensive coach.
I was gonna say Golden, but neither Golden nor Muschamp are good head coaches IMO. Would love Muschamp as a DC though.

Whats the run have to do with anything ? There's only wr's , ol and rb in a typical spread. No big personnel is used in majority of these offenses. . No TE or fb . And if they have a TE it's more of an H/wr that's wide, most can't run block anyways . Why would I need a 7 man box with just 5 ol blocking ?

If you're on in a pro/ base offense then I should be in a based D, but if you have 4-5 wr on the field then I need to have match that too. It isn't rocket science.

The LB was covering a TE who so happened to go out wide. Now tell me, at what point is a defense supposed to substitute a LB for a DB? Is it when you see the TE in the huddle? Or is it when the TE goes out wide? When he goes out wide, ITS TOO LATE TO SUBSTITUTE! or is that also rocket science?

Or would you prefer a DB (who most of the time is shorter/smaller than a TE) to be lined up out wide with him, only for him to be blocked out of the play when a run happens from this formation - which is what happened on this play.

Seeing how you have evaluated the film for this game, how many times was the same personnel used by us when they ran the same formation? How many times did it work vs how many times did it get stuffed? Or did it never work?

FYI - we won that game...

5 WRs?

no problem, I'll slide 270 lb shayon greene outside to cover the slot

singed, Al Golden

Where is the rest of the play? Just because he line up over the slot doesn't mean he is playing man to man. He be redirecting him and dropping back to cover his zone. This isn't flag football.

It doesn't matter if he is in zone. He is still a liability in space, period. He is a 265-270 DE after 2 major knee surgeries. OC's get paid lots of money to know this and I'm sure they're telling their qb's if he drops in zone, that's your read. Throw there, period.

U cant be this stupid. A green DB at Miami can cover better than a 270 De after 2 knee surgeries. have you lost your mind....a green db at FIU can cover better in man and zone than Shyaon Green!! WTF is wrong with you

Shayon Green wasn't in man on that play - he was playing zone - the alignment is pretty **** wide, but it looks like they were trying to overcompensate for the bubble screen

sad thing is instead of calling a timeout when you see this alignment, they allowed Shayon to play in the "zone" and we proceeded to get smashed for a VERY big play.

Well Va went up and down the field all game like majority of our opponents , but we won.

As for the question. This is when film and tendencies come into play. If you're playing a team and they're a finesse offense why would you need a fourth lb? Like Unc, there was no need. They were clearly a pass only team with no running game . Only real weapon was Ebron and we couldn't stop him all day. Why continue to keep lbs on him? Why not have a lb and a S bracket him? It took a thousand yards in a half to realize he was good. But we knew that coming in.

Once again , our db's were our strength , playing a spread team shouldn't be whipping our *** this bad. Schematically speaking.

Al said in an interview awhile back that he plans on using more nickel and dime, I'm glad he found out about those new defenses . Maybe Parcells called and told him it's not good to have 3 or 4 lbs against spread formations .

Mind blowing news.

Nickel and Diming is wha opposing offenses do to our defense..... 5 yards here, 10 yards there..... all the way down the field. :-(

Golden and Dorito are lucky that play wasn't better exploited. A better QB would have recognized Shayon No Knees Green dropping into zone coverage and gotten more out of that play.

They didn't put up a big play when Shayon was out on the tight end

god you are ******* dense. they might not have put up a big play on that exact play, but anyone that has a small amount of football sense can see that the offense can basically do whatever the **** they want vs that alignment

they chose to run and only got 4 yards (nearly a 1st down).

you do realize that these coaches have put out 2 of the worst defenses in school history back to back?

you realize that in the depths of the Coker/Shannon disaster circa 2006-2008 or so, we NEVER had a defense that was as bad as F.A.G.'s best defense at Miami?

what in the world could make anyone think that these clowns know wtf they are doing. it is so plainly obvious and anyone defending them looks like they're trolling

This VA team ran the ball 46 times, passed 45 times, so what are their tenancies?

Did you evaluate the film? Did we play a LB on a TE every time m2m, or did we zone cover them any? Did a DB ever cover the TE at all?Would you want to play them the same way EVERY time they run the same alignment?

If you are such a history buff, you would know they were not the worst in school history. Terrible yes, not worse in school history.

Whats the most we won in those circa 2006-2008 seasons? 7 games max, even with defenses that were better. So you are telling me you prefer a better D with less wins? Eff that, I will take the wins all day and twice on Sundays.

Didnt this staff have a top 20 D last year at Temple? Didnt Golden as DC for VA have a top 20 D his last year? or nah?

You act as if Virginia is some high scoring sophisticated offense....THEY FINISHED 110TH in that department. Every FBS school except for Maryland held them for less yards than we did.

Go to the Ball State boads if you want any of your questions answered. They did better than we did... Don't be offended if they said that it was their scheeemz and TALENT.
