Pratice 7 notes

Cribby, spot on assessment. However when we're in a short yardage situation, be it 2nd or 3rd, you need to stop run first. Therefore, you try to use a guy that is big enough to defend run and ideally be able to jam the wr enough to throw off the timing of a short route. Unfortunately neither TA or TC got the job done. Obviously there were plenty of times we just plain had the wrong personnel out there too. There are some game day issues that need improvement.

That's why when you play spread teams you replace a lb with a S , good enough for run support and can still cover. Or replace a lb with a cb and bring a S down for the run. There's many options, but we continually did the same ole crap.
Did you not see what we had at SAFETY? Sorry that was not an option last year. Maybe moving forward it will be, but not the last 2 years.

What are you talking about? Db was our strength last year. We could've had Howard, Gunter and Crawford/Artie at cb and a S in the box, that's not better than Armbrister, Gaines and Dp on wr 's? We had plenty of options with our secondary. If anything it would've protected our lbs and safeties.

Spread teams were salivating for the bs we were running.

Why not play to our strength?

You use the base defense if it's a situation where they are in an 11 Base (3 WR set) but think they are going to run out of it. The Steelers would put Woodley or Harrison out on slots to redirect them in a zone D. Or they would line up there then sprint down into the box and blitz.

Burns was not ready, and even if he was that's still only 4db s. I guess you think Highsmith or Rogers playing on the los is better than a LB? Are you also suggesting that we always play man to man?

If you're playing a spread offense your base should be a nickel. If not, there's a mismatches everywhere.

Burns wasn't ready? Absolute bs. He played a lot. Watching our defense the last few years , everybody is ready , they can't be worse.

You also have no reading comprehension and understanding of what I'm saying .

And yes I'd rather have Kacey ( former cb) on a wr than thurston freaking armbrister.

You line your defense up by what offensive personel is in the game, you don't run 4 lbs out against spread formations, it's that simple. If you can't understand that then pull your head from Al's cheeks .

I'd much rather have Rodgers, Elder , Hope, Bush, Carter, Dortch, Howard, Gunter or Crawford covering wr than a 240 pound sloth lb.

Unc had a god awful run game all year , lined up in spread and armbrister is over a wr, lol.

We're screwed before the snap, that's coaching and schematics . Sorry to burst bubbles.

There's a reason why I avoid the debates on Al, it's like politics. If you rip a democrat you must be a republican and vice versa. This is why I just keep the obvious negative stuff to myself. The Golden cult will come defending , even if they're wrong or don't know what they're talking about.

Al said in an interview awhile back that he plans on using more nickel and dime, I'm glad he found out about those new defenses . Maybe Parcells called and told him it's not good to have 3 or 4 lbs against spread formations .

Mind blowing news.

Can you provide this interview? I don't believe anything will be different.

I " think" it was an interview with Joe Rose sometime after the season,he mentioned how much better our secondary will be . Which will allow us to run more nickel and dime. I remember i was like " wow", you'd rather had our 230 pound.+ lbs out there than db's? It makes no sense.

I'd been ****ing all year about more db's on the field, so that comment rustled my jimmies.

Please name all of these DB's you would have liked on the field that weren't. I don't think you clowns who keep ****ing about schemezzz understand how very little talent this defense has had for the past three years.

Fella I'm not a mope or a slurper , I speak what I see. To be honest both of you are aggravating as **** . In your eyes Al can't do no wrong and in their eyes he can't do right.

If you mention a valid concern about the staff or questionable decisions, guys like you run in to wrap your mouth around Al. Then name off excuses. Guys like me are screwed, I see issues with Al and his staff, but also understand the situation wasn't normal. I believe the " cloud" was real and he was at a disadvantage.

BUT..... If you aren't a little concerned that means you're blind . In game coaching, adjustments and scheme are quite suspect. Temple fans said this when he landed the job.

I'm willing to give him to the fourth year before I start calling for heads.

Now to answer your question. I'd put **** near any of our db's out there rather than have 240 pound sloth lbs on slot wr's, that's common **** sense. I mean Artie, TH, Gunt , Kacey, Elder, Crawford or Bush couldn't stay with a wr better than TA, DP or Tc? You can't be that brainwashed or biased . ****, I'd put Dortch or Hope out there before those guys.

How maby times did the staff have to see lbs getting raped in coverage to try something new? A basic nickel or dime? That's insanity to keep running lbs out there on wr's and expect different results .

Nickel means five db's and dime means six. Not just cbs, db's. I'd much rather have KR / RJ at S with any of the guys I mentioned above on wr's than lb. Any of them

That's basic football , that's what causes me to doubt staff. It took to year four to realize we should take lb's off the field. A lb matched on a wr is an automatic mismatch, and you continually do it all game. It's crazy.

I'm sure you'll have some bs excuse and keep and argument going, but I don't play that crap. I don't have any agenda, just call what I see.

Feel free to have a mope versus slurper argument on your time .

Figured you would name all of the DB's on the roster. Predictable.... Yawn...

The staff sees these players every day and actually coach as a profession. I'll trust their evaluations over yours.

Throwing a bunch of players that aren't ready just to run the scheme you want to see means jack **** to me.

But according to you and others, the players who were out there already weren't ready or all that talented, so why would it hurt to put a different player in who is also not ready if the game situation calls for it? I'd rather put a newbie db who just needs experience over a slow lb who is not capable and in this case also inexperienced.

Then you complain because he listed off all of the dbs on the roster. Duh. The point he is making is we had options for dbs to play in that position, guys who were not Highsmith and should have been in the game because the scenario called for it. BTW, Highsmith played anyways making your argument a moot point. Something to keep in mind. Just because someone is a professional does not mean they always know what they are doing, otherwise every coach would be successful.

The ******* mopes out in full force to ***** and moan about schemezzz? No!

As talent increases the defense gets better. Stupid schemezzz BS.

So when we come out running more nickel and dime you'll be praising Al for a great adjustment ? It won't be " about **** time you make a basic adjustment, but it took 4 years to make it"?

The D will be better next year , not because of more talent but more to do with adjusting their scheme . Fans have been *****ing about the lbs on the field all year, then after the season Al says " we need to run more nickel and dime next year". No **** ?

Why did it take a full season to figure that out, especially when your cb are your strength?

That's proof alone stupid fans had more sense than a pro making 2 million a year. It's basic high school football sense , that's concerning .

Btw, you have to be a troll or related to Golden.

Make that ***** cribby the defensive coordinator. I've seen more imagination and solid ideas about the defense from his posts in this thread than I have in golden and Doritos three years here.

He's killing it in this thread

Cribby you da new King of da mopes dawg! You should be da new DC! I bet Golden and Coach D never thought to run more nickel or dime! ******* brilliant dawg!

How easy you GD clowns forget Golden had to bring in a CB from Wake Forest and play him a ton because the position was so terribly recruited. Now you just list all of the DB's that Golden is responsible for bringing to the program and act like he won't know what to do with them?

******* idiots... And I'm the troll?

Majority of my posts are positive , but I'm a " mope" because I rip the staff on something obvious as ****? Something anybody with a lick of football knowledge knows is not right? And I'm the idiot? How rich.

Maybe you're the idiot for sucking and licking on the rainbows coming from Al's **** , no matter if he's right or wrong. Anybody that doesn't have any issues with gameday coaching is either a troll , clueless or in a cult that worships Lord Golden.

Now troll on my brotha.

# schemezz something ibis knows nothing about.

Actually I didn't , I said the D will be better " more" to do with adjustment of scheme than talent. It's called reading comprehension sport.

The staff knows what they're doing isn't working, they hear all the talk. That's why Al threw the whole " more nickel and dime next year " statement out. Like he'd just found the ark of defenses , even though it's basic as ****.

Btw, the talent will technically be better but majority of the improved talent is freshmen, so that won't be a huge difference, especially in the trenches .

I mentioned this in another thread I was shocked at some of the personnel packages Miami had in against UNC.

This isn't anything new. I made an entire post about our defensive packages from the KSU 2012 game. They came out in spread all game long and we stayed in base defense. I know LuCane has made several posts about how to attack our defense. All you have to do is spread us out and then exploit the mismatches we create for ourselves.
