Hard Rock is also 60-70K seat stadium. I believe the proposed Stadium is 40-45K. The parking itself shouldn't really be an issue considering that Santa's has been moved from there and you have that whole section of the park that is paved and open (I don't think the testing sites will be there long term). Worst case "20 Dollars no blockie" 😂😂.
i think you are wrong. there is an equestrian center back there, there is a newly constructed community center at the north property line. a 50k stadium?

win and the stadium issue goes away.

My entire point is to make the area more than the stadium so that it can function year round. Dropping a stadium anywhere, to your point, is a waste of land because it isn't active except a few days a year. It's also not fair to the residents. If you build a stadium that is one piece of an entertainment complex then you're not just dumping a stadium somewhere, you're making it a feature of a larger project that can benefit the community.

And attaching a stadium to a large entertainment area means it's less likely to fail because you have guaranteed revenue for many, many weekends (college football, high school football, bowl games, other events).

Right, but the only way it truly works for a FOOTBALL stadium (fewest game dates of any sport) is to have all the entertainment stuff be perimeter-based and self-sustaining.

Ballpark Village in St. Louis benefits from 81 home baseball games.

The new entertainment area being built in Orlando (across from the basketball arena and a couple of blocks from the soccer stadium) benefits from 41 NBA games and at least 17 soccer matches.

If we only play home football games 7 times per year, you just don't get the same synergy to support the retail/dining/entertainment. It is comparable to what you would find across from Daytona International Speedway. Sure, the two big NASCAR races each year help, but that area has to sustain itself for the other 363 days of the year.

If it did happen to end up at Tropical Park then Ruiz absolutely needs to make a play to steal all the concerts from that godforsaken Cruzan/SoundAdvice/Whatever Amphitheater. NOBODY in Dade & Broward should have to drive all the way up to that ****hole. Somehow a "major" venue in 2022 is in Bumblefuk with like one access road to it from the Turnpike and luxurious mud parking lots.

Got-DAMM man! They had mud parking lots 30 years ago, and it's STILL that way? My in-laws used to live down there on Southern Boulevard a while back, but I don't think I've gone to a show there in over a dozen years. Last time I went was...Ozzy? Maybe...No Doubt?

I want an ACTUAL D'Pizza of UM built into the stadium. I want to get a tin of manicotti or ravioli and some garlic knots at every game!
all the nostalgia! corky's, taco viva, d'pizza, wolfies, I'll take a Vito's pizza(North Miami) home of the Fuggazza pizza.

it is a park used by thousands of people each day. to build a stadium, it would take almost the entire park.

Yeah, I have concerns about "just" a stadium, let alone a full "entertainment district".

If we do this at Tropical, then we NEED NEED NEED to do some "wealthy alum/booster" events on campus, with shuttles that run down Blue Road DIRECTLY into the stadium, and we NEED NEED NEED at least one major parking garage. How that impacts the beauty and current layout of the park, I have no freakin' clue. If you tear down all that industrial crap on the east side of the Palmetto, you could build all the garages there and have a massive pedestrian crossing/bus bridge over the Palmetto.

For those who went to the UM-Alabama game...sometimes the walk to the stadium isn't ideal...that crap confused the **** out of me (my first game at that stadium), but I'm sure I could get used to it.

As long as we don't let that fat-a$$ Herbie and his ridiculous old-fashioned car anywhere near the stadium. That guy was a crook.

Great Suh(b) Connection. Miami Heros. Miami's Be(a)st. Beverly Hills Cafe. LB's Eatery. I'd even allow a Pizza Hut, so long as it was a buffet.

The last time I went was probably just pre-Covid. Was directed to park on top of a rotting tree stump next to a mud bog.

I know some people like those outdoor lawn type concert venues because they like to throw down a blanket and smoke whatever drugs but that place is seriously an absolute hole and a joke in comparison to ones in other metropolitan areas. There's no reason a better option shouldn't be available in Dade or Broward.

The one in Tampa is nice. Connected to the state fairgrounds.

I was at a Springsteen concert in Tampa about 8 years ago, and he's playing "Pay Me My Money Down". He took half the band with him in a New Orleans style line, they walk off the stage (still playing) and go over to the Fair, where he proceeds to procure an alcoholic beverage and drink it. Band keeps playing and they eventually made it back to the main stage. Whole song lasted at least 10 minutes.

Lots of (non-muddy) parking too.

blue road dies at about 69th avenue, way before you get to tropical or the palmetto expressway.

i dont see a stadium at tropical nor frankly do i want one either. we shouldn´t be using a public park for a football stadium or an entertainment district. ruiz or others should go purchase hialeah race track (100 acres or so) or the Lemon Cook property on 107th Ave and NW 41st which is the largest undeveloped property in miami dade county core at about 150 acres.

You are correct about Blue. I would like to see an elevated extension for about 1 mile, crossing over 826, and landing in the parking area of Tropical (if if if the project moves forward).

I'll be honest, when I was at UM, I would have loved for it to be Tropical. As an adult, I'm not as sure.

I'm a big advocate of buying the shopping center just north of Magic City Casino and building there. I could also understand Hialeah, that's just farther north.

To be honest, I've never heard anything about the Lemon Cook property, but it looks interesting. And as a guy who drives to the games from the north, Turnpike proximity is niiice.

well, the actual building may take only 25 acres. i just measured dolphins' stadium and it measure about 1,000,000 square feet or 23/24 acres. that is the building itself. taking into consideration the required parking, and you'll need over 200 acres (which is the size of the entire dolphins' stadium complex), or the entire park
Not sure if this was posted in this thread already

There’s a difference between taking 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot at Hardrock and waiting 3 hours in traffic on US1 just to get into the stadium.

After games at Hardrock, I go back to my truck, open the cooler and enjoy some food and maybe a beer while everyone is filling out. After about a half hour or so, I hop in and drive right to the turnpike on-ramp and leave the stadium. From the lot to the turnpike is like 5 minutes.
I hear you , but I should’ve clarified I was talking about at stadiums on or close to a schools campus , since that is what we are wanting for Miami

I’m just wondering if there are any schools with a on campus stadium that don’t have to deal with ****** traffic. I haven’t been to an opposing teams stadium and been able to breeze right in and out with no traffic . Sht I went to school at Ohio State , and half the city shuts down on game day because there’s so much **** traffic .

respectfully, that is not feasible. to build an extension over land just for the stadium?? that's gotta cost 100 million dollars considering eminent domain.

the shopping center to the north of the casino is less than 10 acres.

the Lemon Cook property has never been sold and will likely not be sold. that would be the ideal place but then you are still miles from campus.

some problems cannot be reasonably solved. imo, this is one. the time to solve it came and went with the orange bowl.

Hear me out.

Tropical Park, of course. But with ticket pricing that’s fan friendly AND Miami-era restaurants surrounding the stadium: Wolfie’s, Joe’s Stone Crab, Egg and You for the Broward people (maybe an Elbo Room bar?). SLoppy Joe’s and other Florida themed bars and Cane themed bars and concessions. Basically a Cane Disneyworld. Retractable roof, palm trees at the East End zone, high arc seating to increase volume. You want the downtown to be in view so they can light up the buildings Orange and Green for the big night games.

But you’ve got to pack the fans in like sardines, to do that you need family friendly pricing not NFL pricing. Oh, and parking garages.
hilarious proposition

the dumbf@ck fails to include three fairly large parcels of land to the east, west and south of Hard Rock essential for parking which increases the total complex area to 250 acres.
I mean , even with what you just included , that’s still less than Tropical Park no ?

The thing about most college campuses is that they’re not usually in the middle of a big city. So any traffic on game day is solely people coming and going to the stadium.

I think it really depends on how the campus is laid out. I’ve been to a couple of games at UCF (they only have a 45,000 seat stadium) and getting in and out isn’t much trouble because there’s multiple entrances and not everyone parks in the same area. It’s the same reason the traffic at Hard Rock isn’t terrible even with 65,000 people going to a game. Multiple ways in and out of the stadium with multiple ways to actually get there depending on where you’re coming from. If there was only one main road to get there it would be a nightmare.
