If there was ever a gif to sum up the north of England

It's amazing how people living within an hour of Miami aren't aware of how beautiful it is.
The OV experience is something special and doing it with friends could be very moving. Add to that our
recent recruiting haul, player development under Richt's staff, Richt himself, familiarity with Rumph,
trend of our program, a high-quality private-school education, and proximity to moms and pops....
Not to mention the game day experience at the rock and playing on the same field his dad played on..
That's a lot to walk away from.
THE OB at night>LSU at night>The Rock at night.
I appreciate your nostalgia about the OB. I was at every UM home game in the OB from 1992 until the final game. I have great memories from that shthole, but make no mistake, it was a shthole. IMHO, the Rock is better than the OB.
The 'LSU lock' hasn't signed, committed, or visited.

okay straw man, but what's your point and what does it have to do with my post?
Just saying LSU's home atmosphere is unbelievable, his dad is from Louisiana, and they have a solid track record of putting db's in the NFL. That's a lot to walk away from too.
If this were any other guy, and you twits weren’t brainwashed with this LSU lock nonsense you’d think he should be a UM slam dunk. I’ll go down the list:
1. In our back yard.
2. Was coached by our CB coach.
3. Tight knit family who would love for him to stay home.
4. His dad got the Heritage job, at least in part, because of Rumph.
5. Family has money and should be impervious to the bag game.
6. Has no legacy or family connection to any other school.
7. Many of his friends are going to UM.
Now, if we were recruiting a kid from Baton Rouge who had all those factors in LSU’s favor aside from the kid saying UM was his dream school you’d all be laughing at anyone who said he was a UM lock or even considering anyone other than LSU.

The OB at night was often dead except for a few "big" games.
Let's not add revisionism to this Mathematical Thread.
Guess you never got the chills down your neck or goose bumps when "In The Air Tonight" started playing and you could feel the place literally start to shake for a FSU game.

You’re 100% right.
Yet just a few months ago we’re not even in his top 6.
So, yea, I’m not counting on him coming. I’m taking his word for it. Do I want him and think he should be getting the full court press? Of course. Do I think it will sway him? In a word, no. Hey, I hope he’s all Miami and keeping it a secret. If he is, he’s doing an excellent job of it.
If by mathematical you mean completely qualitative, then yes, thanks for the analysis. When was the last time we went from completely outside a kid's top 5 to pulling off a NSD (February) surprise? UM kids have balls, they're all in on the U, especially locally.

Why would his dad, a millionaire, take a job coaching high school football? Because he wanted to coach his boy. That's a very understandable motivation.
Rumors have also been floating around that Surtain Sr has been looking for a job as a position coach. I believe it, because he's proven to be the kind of guy who wants to be involved with his son's development.
So I say like this - if some school comes around and offers Surtain Sr a position where he can be involved in his boy's growth as a football player, that's where he'll go. If that's LSU, then it'll be LSU.
If that doesn't happen, and Surtain Sr continues to live in Miami, then I believe his son will wind up at Miami as well. He wants to be able to keep an eye on his kid.

How do you even know this?
A lot of kids want away from their parents when they go away to school. Close by maybe, but not helicopter. You’re making assumptions like you have personal knowledge of the father/son and family, which you don’t.

I don't know the Surtain's for ****. Of course I'm making assumptions, like we're all doing here.
My own dad was very successful at what he did, so I'm basing my opinion on personal experience. There are two kinds of rich dads: the ones who are totally hands-off and are just totally focused on their own thing, and the ones who helicopter.
Successful people are almost always "type A," alpha types. They work work work, and never admit defeat, are super competitive, super driven, etc.
As parents, they're either not involved at all in their kids life, or they're micro-managing every detail so they can craft their kids in to some kind of version of themselves. I've never met a highly successful person who is capable of just being an average parent who maintains a normal distance and level of involvement in their kid's lives.
I'm just speaking from experience. But it's an opinion. I have mine, you can believe something different if you like.
