Our OL room is FILTHY

I believe we were up there because I remember thinking when reading a stat “well, that’s embarrassing that we didn’t have more homerun runs..”
I thought I remember reading we were 2nd in the nation but then also this could be a Mandela Effect because I can’t find it

OL is just gonna be “better” by having Ward and Martinez though tbh

Wait what?

Are you saying FSU has a better OL than us.
LOL

If we had FSU's roster and they had ours, we'd be saying we had the better line. It's close. I genuinely think Miami's is better because I think Coop and especially Mauigoa take big leaps. But FSU has a first-team all-acc tackle returning, and they return 3 starters too. Give me ours over theirs, but they should have a good OL on paper too.

That FSU line practically got Travis killed. I actually think they take a step back especially having DJ as QB. Travis saved a ton of sacks because of his legs. DJ is nowhere near as mobile.

Travis definitely made his OL look better whereas TVD made ours look worse.
We max protected way too much for tvd to even have a chance to make it look bad.

Mario and mirabal are top oline coaches, u think they will max protect to help our tackles as much as we did if they thought they could hold their own well enough?

No. Its clear they didn’t trust them and when we didn’t max protect alot our tackles got beat alot so i think we should all take a step back with this top 10 in the country oline talk until we actually see these leaps we are hoping for

I haven’t gone back to look at the films but I recall that being primarily a right side lineup. Rivers seemed to hold up just fine to me, Francis struggled at times, again going off memory. I think we will see a massive improvement by Francis as a second year and if not we have options there. We can alway kick him inside and play McCoy, Bell, Kinsler or Pancake at RT.

Net/net, I feel we added both experience and depth to give Mirabal a ton of options along the line. Agree we need to see it. But projecting, I really like where this line is at. Bottom half of Top 10 doesn’t feel unreasonable to me.

And again … TVD (and Emory for that matter). Ward is a different beast altogether. He’ll extend plays to make the OL look good, just needs to hold onto the ball.

Are you kidding? We brought back our three best Lineman from last season. As an official upperclassman now, Cooper is becoming a leader of that room and will likely cement himself as a 1st or 2nd pick. Mauigoa is one year older and will be even better than he already is. Rivers just came off his best camp of his college career. Those three alone bring up the line up another notch from last season. Ik people may be a little nervous about guard, but whoever starts there definitely has a much higher ceiling than Cohen. Bell, Kinsler, McCoy and Samson could all potentially see the starting lineup this season, which is a big part of the reason why we are on this list. Then you got Carpenter, who at worst I think will have a season similar to Lee.
If I’m not mistaken Carpenter had a better run block grade than Lee, but Lee had a better pass block grade. We’ll see how this goes

Rivers was much better than francis i will say that but it was rough for him at times too especially that unc game. They kept the rb and te back to help both but id agree they covered for francis alot more

Also i would love francis at guard but look at the names u said for RT..None of them have ever played before, so its still an unknown. I do think samson has higher upside at tackle but we gotta see it first.

I cant put them top10 until i actually see these leaps we think will happen, best case scenario doesn’t always happen and i think francis has ways to go which is fine he started as a freshman.

And you are right, cam will extend plays way better than our qbs last year. But if we gonna be successful as we all think our oline has to take a step up too

Agree with all of that. I’m having trouble tempering my enthusiasm as this offense looks like it should produce (!) against the schedule we face. But you’re right they need to prove it on the field.

Oh we gonna have an elite offense too much talent not to..these concerns are just me thinking about our ceiling and what can potentially hinder us. I been rewatching games too so its fresh lol
