I remember this time last year everyone was concerned with Rivers and what we were gonna do about LT

Didn’t even hear the guys name all year and FSU had to move Verse away from him so he could try and make an impact

Not too concerned with the question marks the coaching and development here is top tier
That and to be honest people seem to be hyper focused on the fact that we will have new faces at Center and LG while completely overlooking who we have returning and the depth we have accumulated.

To put it in perspective, the new faces are Zach Carpenter at Center who was all BIG Honorable Mention last year IIRC and a multi year starter at Indiana after originally signing with Michigan. Then at LG it's likely to be former 5 star recruit Samson Okunlola who was slowed by an injury his true freshman year as he was making a push to start at LT.

Coming back we have LT Jalen Rivers a 5th year Junior who has played LG at a high level and was 2nd team All ACC at LT last season. Rivers could very well find himself on the All-American list at the end of the season. Yes, he's that good.

At RT we have Francis Mauigoa who burst onto the college football scene by winning the starting RT job as a true freshman and finishing the year as an All-ACC Honorable Mention. With a full year under his belt, the sky is the limit for Mauigoa.

Finally at RG we have Anez Cooper who has been the starter at RG since the last 4 games in 2022. Considered by some to be the best player on the Miami Offensive Line, the massive Cooper(6'6" 350lbs) has the strength and power to be a roadgrader in the running game and the agility necessary to excel at pulling and pass protection.

The 3 OL we have returning all have the potential to be All-Americans and at the very least All-ACC. I expect our OL to be better than last season. Our rushing attack should be punishing and our pass protection elite.

Bell vs Pancake for the LT position next year will be insanely interesting.

Would the loser (i am going out on a limb and say it would be Pancake) be ok with switching to Guard?

If Mauigoa isn’t moved to LG this season I believe Pancake will be the starting LG and remain there until Bell moves on. Remember Pancake will only be a redshirt sophomore in 2025 and Bell will be a senior (if he doesn’t redshirt this season). Samson can take over the LT spot as a redshirt junior.

If Samson starts the next 2 seasons, it's very unlikely he's here in 2026. These high end 5-star players have had their sights on the NFL for a long time. If buddy has 2 years of starting film, and he's good, you can kiss him goodbye (Pause, please don't actually kiss him).

Regardless though, that's kind of an irrelevant conversation right now. To me, what is the best floor/ceiling combo for 2024, starting with Game 1? That's all we really need to discuss right now. And honestly, to me, it hinges on Samson and Bell. We know who 4 starters are going to be.

For the 5th spot, what's our best combo?

Mauigoa LG/Bell RT?
Mauigoa LG/Samson RT?
Samson LG/Mauigoa RT?

Whichever of those 3 combos is the best floor/ceiling combo, that's your line for 8/31.

I still haven't forgotten the nightmare of the KC McDoormat era & the infamous VA Tech Split.
Our OL coach was Jean Claude Van Damme
