On a couple CB targets…

And I take it @1murhurricane would be considered a person like you're describing, correct?
There’s a lot of guys out there. He’s a real one and help us a ton. So props to him. Just a lot of people who love Miami and who want to give us a shot on goal. Other people on here do great stuff too. We’re lucky to have guys like @1murhurricane and others looking out

If this

Is the truth then I wish UM would make it publicly known so we can all find better things to do with our Fall Saturdays.

I already stopped watching baseball as I am a lifelong Pirates fan. I can add another sport to the list of “not worth the time”.
canes hoops and canes baseball are pretty much there now.

we dont end up with a good QB transfer, might as well throw UM football in there too

DPP = Director of player personnel?

It's wild to me that somebody like that can shut down a recruit when the position coach wants him and the head coach hasn't even seen him.

I get it the head coach needs to delegate but I just don't see how you don't give the trust to the position coach + coordinator since they're the ones that have to make the meal with all the ingredients.

How does the head coach make sure the DPP is qualified enough to be the gatekeeper when it comes to all recruits?
You know in the NFL you have GMs and Scouts and then you have coaches and coaches get over ruled all the time in the draft process. How many examples of Coaches getting their guy that end up sucking are there lol…

Let’s not act like scouting is some exact science.

It makes sense why the scouting prospects part the scouts have the final say. I mean it’s literally their job. If he isn’t doing good enough at their job that is the problem. Obviously if the coach feels very strongly about their guy it means that decision maker better be **** sure of their choice to pass. But it’s not like we didn’t take Dylan Day when it was obvious he was a guy Guidry wanted. So it’s not necessarily just that we won’t take guys the coaches really love. How do we know Addae didn’t go to Dennis Smith with 20 guys, 19 of which sucked and Smkth passed on and Rocks was the 20th… maybe Smith jjust didn’t believe Ricks was worth going after cause Addae sucked at recruiting and determined it would have been a waste of time/miney/effort… no one actually knows the FULL info.

Even when insiders here bring guys to the coaches and say we could have gotten them like McNutt… yeah I’m sure we had a good shot but it’s also not some certainty/lock either, and it WOULD take resources that perhaps we already have dedicated elsewhere… now obviously at DB some of these decisions have been garbage. At other positions things have gone pretty well…

Imagine Memnon popped in here and said he’s actually a fan. Site would break.
His silence is golden.

Besides, a casual fan can tell you they don't want him playing for their team, he's a liability and would be even worse here with our untrustworthy defensive staff.

DPP at one school could be labeled something else at another school. Whatever Smith’s title is at UM, appears to be that role that I am referencing.

Some schools call it director of recruiting, some label it GM. It’s all semantics and they structure it/title it however they want to. Bottomline, most of these schools do it the same way nowadays. Some coaches might be more/less willing to hear their guys out, some might not GAF. It just depends on the school.
Purely my assumption, I figure this was Zo’s position prior to Dennis Smith….I wonder if Mario wanted both Zo and Dennis to have equal say.

Again pure speculation, because I remember it being reported that Zo wanted more control over the roster management. If Dennis did indeed have just as much say, I can see why he might’ve said, “yea I’m out”.

Zo didn’t have much of a say at all

Yes, no doubt there's others. I singled out @1murhurricane cuz he is a real one and from reading a lot of his post, I know he's been caught up in this web with DSmith that you were sharing with us. It just gave a little context for me as you were describing situations in real time to things he's spoken of personally.
