On a couple CB targets…

But just going by eye test & remembering from watching West VA vs AZ, Colorado vs AZ & UCF vs AZ, I'm not too sure if the staff is looking for another Ja'Dais Richard, but that's essentially what they'd be getting.

Idk though, I'm no CB expert, so I'm sure someone else could give a better explanation as to why they're going after him 🤷🏽‍♂️
Doc must've told them Richard wouldnt be ready for week 1, they hit that portal expeditiously. and steered clear of Vandy just to show progress.

This kid has college tape out and he doesn't look good. This is against UCF by the way.

Yet you're posting his HS film here and commenting about his length and how he moves like they're evaluating a high school player.

No need to evaluate and project him..he played in college already against D1 guys and he's not very good.

There's a bunch of kids out there who are in the portal and have looked GOOD against D1 wide receivers. And none of them are visiting or getting offers?

Can you imagine this guy back there with our defensive #7 (whom shall not be named)?

@Memnon

You might be on to something with wanting another JaDais Richard.

We had real issues covering all WRs, but the tallboys had something extra for us.

Meeks is 6'2" with 110/2
Jacorey is 6'3" with 107/2

The tallboy from Cal had a big grab too.

We had trouble with a few slots, too - Pena, Hagans, Atkins as well, but those bigger WRs with talent were unstoppable against us with our slow midget corners.

What about the O'Connor CB from Wazzuu ? Looks way better than the Arizona kid
Sounds like UCLA has the leg up early. SoCal kid, signed with UCLA out of HS but had an admissions deal, something to do with grades and he couldn’t get in there long story short. He looks like a player though.

6'2 Damari didn't fair too well either...

We need good corners, first & foremost. Those come in all shapes and sizes. If you 6’3 190 with 38 inch arms but you sorry af, then it doesn’t matter. You just gonna be big and sorry af.

I ask this honestly and not being defensive: have you seen him play? I haven't, and I doubt many others have either.

That doesn't mean he'll be good. I didn't see Terry Roberts play before he came here and stunk. But I wonder how much (earned) distrust of our DB evals is driving this reaction.

And if people distrust our DB evals, which is understandable, do they trust Ole Miss? I've seen a lot of people saying we should be more like them.

Idk why people keep saying that.

But he hasn't had a single good game since he's been at Miami.
Do you think he can play Safety? I don't know enough to pinpoint why, but he's never looked fluid or confident at corner here.

Why did Damari do a pirouette at the LOS? Never seen that before
It was one of the most mind boggling things I've ever seen in all my years of watching CB's...

When I saw it live, my immediate reaction was: "WTF DID HE DO THAT FOR?!?!?!?"

Against Outside leverage playing Boundary, there's literally no reason whatsoever to do that, like none at all. There's nobody over there & even if the WR runs backshoulder fade to the sideline, that's not at all how you're supposed to defend it.

That's why I laugh when I see people sparking the torches & blaming everything on the Coaches on Defense. I could show several hours of film of players making boneheaded plays, completely abandoning their assignments & not running the play as called.
