OK, convince me why Golden should still be here after this.

Of course. That's why they're trolling around on message boards instead of running the defense at a major university with 5 national championships. Maybe they can send AG their resume and bring 5 or 6 junior and senior DLinemen with them. Then we'd be in business...

Since you obviously haven't noticed, not a lot of coaches want this job. You really are new to the Canes.

LOL. Now the message board coaching staff doesn't want the Miami job. Hysterical. By the way, born and raised in SoFla, fan since I was a little kid in the late 70s, UM class of 91. Yeah, I'm new to the Canes.

You obviously missed that I highlighted what I was talking about. 5 NC's doesn't mean jack when you can't get top notch coaches in here.

There is something very wrong when we go after a top 10 coach and they always turn us down.

Sam isn't the AD anymore.

when have we ever landed a top 10 coach?

Do you know who Sam was to the U? Do you understand his coaching hires?

Why in God's name would you bump this thread 82?

And then go on to essentially say that some posters on this message board are more qualified to run the defense then D'Onfrio.

Because the bottomline, everything starts and stops with CEO Golden.

Not to mention this is his choice of scheme as well. Doesn't he deserve some of blame as well?

Blame for what? The abysmal state of the depth chart he inherited? That he has to play a bunch of physically and mentally immature kids just to field a defense? Enlighten us...please.

So what is your timeline for Golden?

Don't know yet. Depends on what the NCAA hits us with.

You may be new to this crew here, but there are some really bright football guys here. They're not "schmucks" as you called them.

If they could pay top 10 coaches top 10 salaries, they'd come. They can't, so they don't. Simple as that. Nice job changing the subject though...

Howard Schnellenberger

LOLOLOL! Schnellenberger was was far, FAR from a top 10 coach when he took the job at Miami.

So, say we get the same penalties as USC? How long do you give him?

No, you threw in a comment on 5 NC's that haven't helped us bring in one top flight HC.

Howard was the OC for the phins when he came to the U

My bad, top 25 coach. I know we can pay that high. Still no dice.

Until I see some evidence that he can't get the job done? **** if I know...doesn't matter anyway, because Shalala doesn't care what I think, nor should she.

It had nothing to do with bringing top flight coaches in here. It was about your top flight message board coaches who know better than our not-so-top-flight coaches.

What's that got to do with anything? He still wasn't a top 10 coach. He flunked as the Colts head coach earlier in the 70s.

You sure about that?

You know it as well just from the coaches they have talked to in the past.

If Golden's salary is $1.6M, as has been reported, that would put him lower than the coaches at Utah, USF, UMinn, Kentucky, SMU, Illinois, Duke, UVa, NCSU, Maryland, Kansas, Wake, Rutgers, Louisville, Missouri....

He'd be 45th on Phil Steele's top paid coaches list, which doesn't even include private schools, like USC and ND, which everyone knows would be higher up on the list. So, he's probably not even one of the highest 50 HC salaries. Talk is cheap, and so is the U (by necessity).

Just want to say what's up. This is my first post and love Miami football.

Are people really calling for coaches heads already? Golden inherited a .500 football team. His first year here he had a roster full of upperclassmen. All of those upperclassmen left. He brought Streeter out of the doghouse and had him balling after one offseason. Lamar Miller was playing the best football we had seen out him. I thought this team would take a step back this year. **** in spring ball there weren't even enough WR's to practice. Golden's already instilled fight in this team. Penalties have been cut way back. There's 55 true Sophomores or younger on this roster. There's 22 true Sophomores or younger in the defensive two deep. Are people suggesting that our JV defense is supposed to shut down Varsity offenses all year long? We lost Lamar Miller and Golden has Duke in there balling out. The best players with the most promise are the new guys. How about having a little patience and envision what the future holds. Miami fans did the same thing to Butch when he came in and didn't win right away. And spare me the probation talk, 10 years of Coker and Randy is just like being on probation. Golden is the truth. Cut the man some slack and let him rebuild this program. ST's is starting to look special again. The offense is starting to click. The offensive line is finally starting to get push. The defense will get there but they are too young to be dominate and run man to man. Right now they are a bend and don't break defense that keeps the play in front of them. Man coverage will come in time. Coaching change will not get this program anywhere. This team loses nobody this offseason.

Step back from the ledge and enjoy watching these young kids develop. Goldden and his coaching staff isn't going anywhere unless you fans run him out of town just like you did Butch. Butch was garbage up until he produced the best CFB team the nation has ever seen. Well at least our know it all fans made that claim. Now those same know it all's want Butch back? If any of you knew as much as you think you know you wouldn't be on a blog. You'd be coaching against Saban or Golden at some D-1 football program. Get it?

Welcome, and no. No one is calling for his head yet. We are allowed to question what we have seen the last 10 games, yes?

BTW, the fans didn't run Butch off.

Also, as to keeping things in front with the defense, If that were true we wouldn't be having this conversation.

No, I don't think the fans do have the right to question scheme or play calling right now. This is a rebuild from scratch that started this year. Last year the coaches were just getting by with what they had left over from the last regime. Most of those players are long gone and this team is the youngest in the nation. You can't run man defense right now and expect success especially when all of your D-line is true Sophomores or younger for the most part.

If you think our fans didn't run Butch off then I beg to differ. I'm sure that plane that flew over the OB with the banner that read "From National Champs to National Chumps, Thanks Butch" was engrained in his mind when he told everybody he was going nowhere and 24 hours later he was on his way Ohio. Miami fans are an instant gratification bunch of know it all's who know nothing and have no vision.

Like I said, sit back and enjoy watching this coaching staff develop these kids. Player development has been absent from this program since Butch left. History has a way of repeating itself and a young fiery coach like Al Golden is exactly what makes Miami successful. Coach D will end up going down as one of the best DC's this program has ever had. You may think you know but you don't.
