I love our coach. He seems like a charismatic, hard working, well organized coach.

Our record has been disappointing (includes 2 serious *** kickings) and we've lost some heart-breaking games (but won some) but the future does look great.

And we've been working under a NCAA storm cloud. Can't forget that.

These kids don't grasp a zone-based, 2 gap defense since they actually DO play an attacking style of defense when they are in high school. I guess Tracy Howard wasn't the #1 press man corner in the nation. Our DL? Yeah, they all play a hold the point of attack, 2 gap system in high school.

But this is college.

How many high schools run defenses that are as sophisticated as college defenses?

South Florida kids are too dumb to understand zone concepts? Kids in rural Alabama have more football intelligence?

I don't buy it.

Besides, if our guys are so adept at playing man, teaching them how to play zone will make us more potent because then we can seamlessly switch between the two.

Agree with this. If the defensive scheme isn't changed the team will quit pretty early in the season. That first game against UL will be telling. If we get gashed it will quickly unravel
