OK, convince me why Golden should still be here after this.

Interesting points in this thread. I think after a long drive back from Charlottesville I have to realize that this is going to take a long time. Saying that with a heavy heart. We have to give it at least three years to see where players are at and what schemes coach have really worked on.

Next year is the moment of truth. He gets the fourth year purely as a courtesy, but we will know absolutely whether or not he is as garbage as this team is looking right now, next year. It's possible he turns it around next year, but if this team is still losing to the likes of Virginia I wouldn't hold out much hope.

We aren't very good. Haven't been all season. Not sure why everybody is freaking out now. LMAO

I saw this coming, especially on D. This D can't have Perryman and Bush out AND then have Johnson not play.

I'm willing to take lumps, that's where we are now. If you can't see this, your just not being very honest with yourself.

We should have won this game. There is no getting around that.[/QUOTE][/QUOTE

According to whom? Not Vegas.

It's beyond idiotic here. Every one of our wins - against a series of mediocre teams - was set up by turnovers, special teams' opportunities, penalties, and miscues (such as missing wide open receivers). We had all of those breaks yet again, but at some point you're going to let one of these slip away, which is what happened today.

The bottom line is that we are relying on far too many freshmen and sophomores, especially on the front seven. At some point that is going to bite you. My only surprise is that it didn't happen sooner. Blaming the current coaches for our ridiculous youth is shortsighted. The funny thing is if the defense had gotten a stop on one of those 4th and 7s, most of you vilifying golden would have been cannonizing him. But that is par for the course on these message boards.

I can't even read this thread. Golden is regarded as one of the best young coaches in the game. We're lucky to have him right now. If he doesn't stick around to captain this ship through sanctions we're ****ed. NO ONE worth a **** would touch this job with the ncaa hammer looming over our heads like the sword of damocles.

This.

How has this team improved? Everyone here knows he won't be firing his boy at the end of the year?

Our O doesn't even get what situation we are in. Is that Golden telling Fisch to run it 3 times and not really try and get a 1st on the final drive? Or is that all on Fisch?

I'm not seeing what Golden brings to the table anymore.

If you're not suggesting that he shouldn't be here (get fired) by this statement, then what the **** are you suggesting?

Real simple, I didn't mince words. If I meant fired and called for his head I would have stated it as so.

I said convince me! How has this team improved? I'm just not seeing it...

Then you need to open your eyes.

Exactly.

Why anyone would give up five minutes of their life trying to convince miami82 to believe the obvious is beyond me.

Meh, every coach gets their four years, unless they go Cam Cameron bad.

That said, it is fair to lose some faith in the man. Nobody expects us to compete for NC's for the foreseeable future, but we are still supposed to be better than this.

We had this game, I find it funny with all the posters stating we were picked to win 6 or 7 games. Excuse me for expecting something better than what they said pre-season when we have lost a game today we should have won.

I think our fan base has become shancokered.

There is a major trend with this D, and I just hope this isn't the start of another end of season collapse.

Im fired up about this **** but you don't fire a coach every time they **** up a game. Fire Golden and my guess is we might have shot to rehire Coker with the state of the program right now.

I do know Golden needs to recruit his *** off. It's clear to me now we aren't winning games with our schemes and are gonna have to just out talent people.

This is the problem. *Even if Golden isn't the man to lead us to national titles, we have to hope that he can atleast get the ship righted; because quite simply put, Miami is not a top 25 coaching destination right now. *Mississippi State is a more desirable coaching position than Miami. *Sure, there are tons of athletes down here, but you can get them to go anywhere. *We don't have the facilities, salary, or fan base to attract a top level coach.

Yep next year is the year. He will live and die with his Coordinators and recruiting.

I hope he gets it done. I don't want to go through another rebuilding with another staff for the 4th time.

We've won games we shouldn't have won, too. Mediocre teams with marginal talent have that quality.

What games? Who did we beat that we shouldn't have beaten? We lost to every good team we faced this year in blowout fashion, and we lost to some good teams (with a closer margin, but also not at the same level) the year before. We haven't had a bonafide upset of a good team (that actually turned out to be good at the end of the season) in years.

Agree with a lot of what you're saying, 82, the bloom is certainly off of the rose with Golden. I'm tired of hearing all the right things, yet seeing no results. I'm hesitant to call for his head because we have such a ****** roster right now, therefore we're almost compelled to give him next year, but I don't have any real belief that we're going to be any better next year.

Get Petrino.

That SOB gets it done. IN ARKANSAS? Definitely gets it done.

What teams comes out - a ****ty or ****ier team. We just are bad. We haven't turned any corner. We are on track to fade and disappoint as we always do. No more living in the past people. We are so far removed from the championship teams. Our past is the last ten years. We are who we are and played like it.

Lets bump to get some answers. Come ob Sebastian, answer the question.

This year we should have won UNC and UVA. We had those games. The problem with this predictive crap is they can be wrong and it doesn't mean that that is what you strive for. So adjustments by the staff and those two losses are wins.

I can give 2 answers to this question: Should Al be here?

1. Obvious Answer: You have no choice.

Al will be here for at least 4 years regardless of what the fans say. We're going to get sanctions, no coach is going to come in and take his place. The Admin and President is fully behind this guy and willing to give him plenty of time to "attempt to fix this program." So bang your head all you want, he ain't going anywhere IMO prior to the end of year 4.

2. Opinion Answer or the Message Board Answer:

_____________ (insert Yes or No) because ________________ (insert "we suck" if you selected "YES" or "we have what we need" if you said "NO") talent wise and this is what we expected when they hired this guy.

Finally, stop saying Petrino by the way, the school would never go after him for reasons that have nothing to do with money or quality.

Just said it in another thread but I'll paraphrase here:

We won't get another decent coach due to looming NCAA asshattery. Not for a while. So that's one reason. Another is that it's not all his fault, and for that matter not even Doritos fault for yesterday. The winning catch was covered by 1-2 guys. Were golden and Dorito supposed to go onto the field and play? They could've managed the game better, we could've won. Could've beat unc too. Then what? We're still not a good team, not yet.

Golden may prove not to be our messiah, but caning him now in year 2 with one actual recruiting class will only hurt the program more. Another 2 years should be given, and expected, ignoring sanctions which are a huge factor. Golden has room to improve, he's young. He should have that chance, we did improve year over year and we do have talent coming in. Saying otherwise is being blond to the details and looking only at win loss. At our level, we don't have that luxury. We're not Alabama, we don't have that roster, we can't expect to just win. Not yet.

Be careful what you wish for. Golden will win eventually here. I have no doubt about that. I am less confident about our chances of keeping him here, particularly with such an ambivalent administration and unreasonable fan base.

Just look at our freshmen and sophomores talent compared to the juniors and seniors he was left with. 1 or 2 more recruiting classes of the same caliber players and we will have the depth and talent to compete consistently. The talent is not there, especially on defense when your 3 best players are not playing and there is no depth behind them.

I think that is fair and good. I like his talent evals. I just wish he would make the obvious Monday morning QB adjustments most of us see.
