OC Discussion Thread

I wouldn't want Norv Turner if the dude came for free. I remember him being a terrible OC everywhere he went, and he was somehow consistently overrated despite mediocre results.

Honestly, as far as the stuff thrown out there at this point...

Think the ideal scenario might be Lubick as OC/WRs coach. Push Kehoe to some administrative position. Put Mario as OL coach, and move Carroll back to TEs. Then hire a dedicated QB coach.

However, I think we're gonna have to look at someone like Shoop or Groh with experience working with QBs. Quarterback is too important of a position, with limited practices and film time, not to have an experienced, dedicated coach working with the position.

You'd be wrong because Norv was/is a great OC

No need to shake things up any more. Hire an OC that can coach QB and call it a day.

Are you being serious? Norv is a great OC...one of the best.

I would say he is a quality OC and usually any Pro Head coach that comes back to college does very well. Look at Jim Mora Jr. at UCLA. There's a bunch of other examples too I just can't think of em off the top of my head and they usually go right back to the NFL once they turn around whatever program they join up with. Norv just signed with Cleveland I think though.

I say we go after the guy who called plays for Arkansas State, Ohio, Kent State, Toledo, Ball State, Louisiana-Lafayette or a guy from the NFL.

Miami was 117 out of 122 teams in rushing attempts this season. That is unacceptable no matter what anyone says, when we have that o-line, Duke, and Mike James we shouldn't be 117. We should at least be in the top 50.

There was a discussion earlier about the more telling defensive statistic. Scoring or Total. I happen to be on the scoring side of the argument so that diminishes the argument I will make right now but, to me it is still a valid point to make.

The points put up by your offense does not tell the whole story about your offensive efficiency and the ability of your team to control the game. I felt like there were a lot of moments during this season where Fisch did a poor job managing the game and calling the offense. I felt like our talent bailed him out a lot of times. We made a lot of explosive plays that didn't necessarily come from great play calling. Anything Duke did, a couple of those long passes against NC State, the two long screens against Duke. I mean the offense was awesome this season but I honestly don't feel like it was because of Fisch I think it was in spite of him.

wrong and extremely wrong

I went back and looked at the play by plays of the NC State, GT, BC, and Virginia games. You're analysis couldn't be further from the truth. I'll see if I can find the exact post with all of that info
