I like this kid as a project. He has some definite potential. You ******* gloomers need to settle down til he gets at least 2 years in the program to start bashing him. He's a late addition not an early reach. Huge difference.
 
No one wanted Tez or Russell Maryland, either. Not saying this guy will hit. Just saying that stranger things have happened. Who knows. If he's really coming here, I hope he works hard and becomes productive.

Thats if they are here two years. It is a waste of scholly. Plain and simple, every guy we recruit who no one wanted is a dud. Its a long line of them

That's why JuCo recruiting is such a crap shoot. Even the top rated guys (Lovon Hooks) aren't guaranteed studs.

But most JuCo guys go because of grades.

And this kid was all set to go JUCO as well, hence the lack of interest overall. And I don't see anything about this kid's physical composition that couldn't be molded into an effective nose tackle. Guys like Earl Moore or Edgar Cerenord will never have long enough arms for the position, no matter how hard they workout. This guy can transform his body into what you'd want at that position.

He'd be a completely different player after going JuCo than he is coming out of high school. You'd be recruiting two different players.

Heurtelou coming out had no offers, so he went JuCo, worked hard and got some decent offers coming out. This guy look terrible. Maybe had he went JuCo he'd be worth the scholarship, but right now he's not.

Again, just because a kid is big doesn't mean he'd make a good NT. He can big and still get his **** pushed in.

I don't love the pickup but I can see the projection. Plenty of defensive lineman are recruited so they can play 3-4 years from now. This is nothing new.

I agree with Rider but I can also say that if he's not asked to do anything for his first 2 years thats pretty much like getting on a JUCO guy early. If he blossoms at all with his size he can do some things. Now can we develop him at all for the 2-3 years down the road? Thats yet to be seen

This is 2014. DTs are at a premium and with the amount of exposure and social media, if this kid was worth a **** he'd have more offers than UTEP.

Even Derrick Griffin had a Texas A&M offer until signing day when they couldn't afford to waste a LOI on him.

At worst he'd have Washington State or Colorado offer.

No, I don't think they have it figured out. They haven't earned the benefit of the doubt.

Those who are willing to defend this kid getting a scholie for the next 4-5 years will defend anything this staff does.

If defending the choice to pick up a kid at this point which doesn't hurt us.. Then yea.. I'm ok with it. ****, we had the scholly ear marked for player (gibbons) but bolted anyway.

And FWIW we don't know what kids are going after the spring, Golden does..

As I said before - schollys work themselves out. Always do.

On this particular pickup I'll give the staff a pass..

I don't disagree, but the kid's situation could have appeared hopeless before this season. How do we have so many NFL nose tackles that played 1-aa?

I saw this kid committing to Coach Kehoe on Friday when I was at work maye he plays O line as well I heard Kehoe say he was gonna take him to watch film and his host was Sonny Odogwu.

READ the freekin' post - HE DIDN'T HAVE THE SAT's - when he made them his coach sent then and clips to coaches around the country. He was not eligible, that is why he was not on anyone's list. DOH. We had a spot - AG takes a chance, easy enough to get rid of if he doesn't produce.

Good choice or not - we'll find out but understand the argument before you open your flap.

It looks like those numbers were at a SPARQ combine, so not just made up. He also had a 44 Power Ball Toss which is extremely good (Moten was our previous best here with a 42).
