My singular wish for this team and program going forward

Couldn’t agree more... when manny was talking about “offensive themed chains” I knew his mind was wandering from the basics

Win.

The thing that was cool about the first year we pulled out the chain was the year before we had won our first **** bowl game in over a decade.. we then followed up that season with the chain hype to a 10 win season and blue chip win against ND

See how the order of that went?? Win. Then shine. Couldn’t agree more OP

My take is that the hype was made and carried by the fans. I did not see anything any other do in the offseason.

My only wish? I die to have a spread OC in a spread system. Football evolve and we are stuck 20 years behind.

It's prep. Bottom line. And, that's what this post is about. I find it incredibly odd that a coaching staff so prepared and detailed in their communications brought a slow-starting team to UNC with two weeks off before the game. That **** just doesn't align.
It'll stop when it's not true. If you don't like facts (like players who make it to the NFL), compare rosters. I understand your tendency to try to be a contrarian. By all means. It makes for good discussions sometimes.

In this case, you're once again partly talking about something separate from the point of the thread: we need more substance in relation to the hype and marketing. And, there's a grey area there. We need some hype and morale. I think we're out of balance right now.

If we were 1-1 right now, I'd better see your point. We dropped a horrendous game in UNC with two weeks to prepare for them. No moral victory will make that right. That's not doom and gloom. It's disappointment. Now we move forward.
im just looking at the facts..everybody was on here thinking we was gonna just roll over UNC. But that’s not what I saw from UNC against SCAR. Is SCAR Great, no. But we are not Great either. It was a home opener in a pact house. I knew it would be a close game though-out. I thought it would be 35-20/17 us. But not by blowout..we are not at the point depth wise, experience wise or talent wise where we should EXPECT to just run the table. As fans should hope, yes of course.

Now if your overall point is Mannys words about Miami standards and all that, I’ll say wtf do u want him to say. He’s selling the program and the vision he has for it when he is directly asked about it. Which i agree with him doing.

Right now..I look up and down this roster and I don’t see a roster where we just outtalent teams. We’re we can just come out and dominate..like I said at the skill spots, maybe. But the game is won in the trenches. Especially on the oline, we all can agree we aren’t at that level

I’m as disappointed with the win and loss column as anybody..but I don’t agree manny should stop selling his vision of the program. He shouldn’t stop hyping it up. The jewelry shouldn’t be put away, unless the players aren’t living up to the standards of what it takes to be successfull...now if this team was laying down I’d agree..but as of now I see a team that fought, a team that was 7 points from being ranked in the top 20. We have some ppl already out on manny (not saying you). I think this is a team, if healthy that will only get better from week to week.

Did it this way because you've been thoughtful and deserve a thoughtful and precise response. Point by point.

You're generalizing, though. There were tons of people and even full threads about how we never roll UNC at Chapel Hill. But, when you watch the game and see what we should have done from jump in the running game, it hurts. We ended up with 25 points. Our defense lost focus, too.

Now if your overall point is Mannys words about Miami standards and all that, I’ll say wtf do u want him to say. He’s selling the program and the vision he has for it when he is directly asked about it. Which i agree with him doing.
You agree with selling more than producing? We disagree. You can sell your vision without going too far before proving anything. Seems most fans agree they're tired of the imbalance.

You don't see a more talented roster than UNC? What ACC teams, outside of Clemson, do you see with more talent than us? No one is talking about dominating. We're talking about taking an equal or plus talent comparison to our opponents and winning games.

If you're going to talk a big game, you have to back it up. And, as many have said, we'd actually prefer the order is first back it up, then talk it up.

Sick to my stomach. If anyone watched those last two games closely and thought we weren't capable of easily being 2-0, I don't know what to say. This is the first game since Golden's last season where I refuse to chart the defensive plays. Barely wanna talk about the plays that happened.

I only have one wish:

Please stop talking so much **** and exerting so much energy on hype and marketing before anything is proven. Program was in the gutter and needed a boost? I get it. You can still fall short of crossing the line into nonsense.

Just change the order of things now. There's still a chance to be a program of substance. We sure as **** have more talent than anyone else on our schedule. However, the superficial approach is NOT what JJ and the older teams did; I don't care how many times it's referenced and misunderstood. Those teams killed, and then danced.

You have a high standard? Great. Everyone is gonna be held to it? Awesome. Is there a need to talk about it and other details so much before it bears any fruit? Because when the details are missing from special teams, switching out one of the two vulnerable Tackles a game late, 2/5ths of the game to get going, or a 4th and 17 (the world's most predictable late DB boundary blitz), it looks ridiculous, ya'll.

Empty shell of a program until we understand that hype and bull**** come after the proof on the field. It's not a big ask. Most of us are still gonna be out there for every game, so we shall see.
Stop being such a baby. So much left to the season. You expect the coach not to sale the program?

Like put it on Zillow?

Sounds like you're a bit sensitive and projecting. No one said the season is over. Re-read the last line of the OP.
You always want your Head Coach hyping the program. We will be fine. This team is more of our 1999 team. Were we had talent but youth and mistakes cost of a few games

I'm not disagreeing with him hyping the program. I want him to match the details he has in the hype on the field. We still have a chance to win 9-10 games (including bowl). Is it likely? Who the **** knows. Like I said, I think our roster is more talented than anyone else we'll play during reg season. I'm talking about the disappointment of the last two games.

Hyping and over selling are two completely different things. Lu is spot on and Diaz looks like a clown right now with all the talk and the TD ring.

Just win some ******* games and actually looke prepared. His whole TNM (The New Miami) is getting thrown back at him and rightfully so cause of how we played and lost our first two games.

He’s veering close to used car salesman status. Once you lose your rep the **** is over.

Just win and until you do, shut the **** up.

Honestly, I think we start rolling next week

Man we need to do the chains and rings thing after wins, just have those things replace the game ball. I remember last year when Wisconsin was butt raping us and we got a turnover we pulled the chain out. Like really man!!!!!

Gonna bring in only guys that want to be here....

blah blah
Meanwhile, Mack Brown has already figured it out
Their OC Phil Longo put together a **** of a game plan. I looked at his resume and was like, ****, I would have considered him for Miami’s OC job

Agreed and something I've been saying for a long time. Have to see it to believe it. We can talk about the improvements that the team has made all day long, but there are glaring issues that for whatever reason haven't been addressed enough.

There's no reason why are special teams should look like sh** in essentially year four. I'll give the offense a pass because of the new scheme, QB, etc though I do notice other schools...*cough* UNC able to turn their offense around swiftly. Could anyone explain the differences between Enos' and Mark Whipple's, specifically the 09 squad, offenses?

Cant put my finger on it but the defense just doesn't look effective anymore either. And it's not just the departure of seniors; it's tackling, coordination, awareness, etc . Those types of attributes are on the coaches to teach. It's been something I've noticed for a while but is often compensated by the hero-effort of a Jaquan or Willis. Maybe it's the scheme idk.

The team's demeanor just doesn't add up with Manny's which is the biggest problem imo.

Yea, this 0-2 record would feel so much better if no one affiliated with the program tweeted or spoke all offseason....
