My singular wish for this team and program going forward

My one reason for some guarded optimism is that Manny seems like an analytical type of guy who is results oriented. He made needed adjustments on his defense when they had to be made that produced positive results. As head coach (though different role) I am hoping he takes the same approach to making needed changes even if making personnel changes, sitting certain guys, etc. He is pretty smart and I think knows what is needed. If it seems obvious to us that special teams need a revamp I am sure it is obvious to him. I would not pay too much attention to what he says in the media to fluff up players or staff.
Fair points. This thread isn't about the season being over or to say Manny won't fix **** that's happened. It's simply about changing the order of selling/producing or at least bringing it down to lesser levels until we have more substance. One person said it's about managing expectations. I guess that's part of it. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a crew so detailed on messaging to match those details on the field. Maybe it happens going forward. Would imagine they'd acknowledge it hasn't happened for the first two games. Big freakin' games.

Expectations need to be high. It's kind of interesting that people got on Enos for being critical of Jarren the first game. But he said he expects the same out of his qbs whether game 1 or 30. As long as Manny is holding himself and others to the same standards I am fine with that. I think he will right the ship and do what needs to be done just like he did addressing the offensive issues of last year, working the portal to get an infusion of talent, replacing Feagles with Hedley, etc. At least we have evidence to go from that does not make it wishful thinking (like thinking Richt would get rid of his son, or give up play calling and hire a real OC). I am remaining optimistic until proven otherwise.

There's a list of things to blame for being 0-2 right now. Marketing hype is at the bottom of it.

Marketing and gimmickry has nothing to do with being 0-2. But you look flat out foolish when all you are is marketing and gimmickry.

I'm a Leach guy, so my perspective is probably biased in that direction. But when Leach took over at Washington State, it was one of the worst P5 programs in the nation. He didn't build it into a competitive program through flash and hype. He built it from the bottom up, under the radar, installed his system. That's the difference between having an experienced, hard nosed veteran head coach and having the Cuban Flavor Flav.

im just looking at the facts..everybody was on here thinking we was gonna just roll over UNC. But that’s not what I saw from UNC against SCAR. Is SCAR Great, no. But we are not Great either. It was a home opener in a pact house. I knew it would be a close game though-out. I thought it would be 35-20/17 us. But not by blowout..we are not at the point depth wise, experience wise or talent wise where we should EXPECT to just run the table. As fans should hope, yes of course.

Now if your overall point is Mannys words about Miami standards and all that, I’ll say wtf do u want him to say. He’s selling the program and the vision he has for it when he is directly asked about it. Which i agree with him doing.

Right now..I look up and down this roster and I don’t see a roster where we just outtalent teams. We’re we can just come out and dominate..like I said at the skill spots, maybe. But the game is won in the trenches. Especially on the oline, we all can agree we aren’t at that level

I’m as disappointed with the win and loss column as anybody..but I don’t agree manny should stop selling his vision of the program. He shouldn’t stop hyping it up. The jewelry shouldn’t be put away, unless the players aren’t living up to the standards of what it takes to be successfull...now if this team was laying down I’d agree..but as of now I see a team that fought, a team that was 7 points from being ranked in the top 20. We have some ppl already out on manny (not saying you). I think this is a team, if healthy that will only get better from week to week.
I agree with most of what you're saying but with the start Miami's had, his hype is going to start sounding hollow. He's got to show he's the man to fix it. People want to see results. He needs to low key it until he shows it on the field. And not for just one game, he needs to show it's a trend.

Agreed. Lu.

Also will add that it sucks seeing teams talk so much **** and we just take it.

Florida was yapping and UNC players as well. They backed their **** up.

Sick to my stomach. If anyone watched those last two games closely and thought we weren't capable of easily being 2-0, I don't know what to say. This is the first game since Golden's last season where I refuse to chart the defensive plays. Barely wanna talk about the plays that happened.

I only have one wish:

Please stop talking so much **** and exerting so much energy on hype and marketing before anything is proven. Program was in the gutter and needed a boost? I get it. You can still fall short of crossing the line into nonsense.

Just change the order of things now. There's still a chance to be a program of substance. We sure as **** have more talent than anyone else on our schedule. However, the superficial approach is NOT what JJ and the older teams did; I don't care how many times it's referenced and misunderstood. Those teams killed, and then danced.

You have a high standard? Great. Everyone is gonna be held to it? Awesome. Is there a need to talk about it and other details so much before it bears any fruit? Because when the details are missing from special teams, switching out one of the two vulnerable Tackles a game late, 2/5ths of the game to get going, or a 4th and 17 (the world's most predictable late DB boundary blitz), it looks ridiculous, ya'll.

Empty shell of a program until we understand that hype and bull**** come after the proof on the field. It's not a big ask. Most of us are still gonna be out there for every game, so we shall see.

Hear hear!

Nothing to add, just perfect
