Miami's Portal Class

You mean how we'd lose a recruit to Oregon and all anyone would say here, gotta be that Nike money, Knights pockets run deep, they have nobody to recruit against besides USC, seen their facilities, etc? How about while at Bama? Bama recruits itself, grandma could recruit there, and let's not forget the Chargers. His stint down here as a head coach, they weren't out killing it on the trail but nobody does there.

He's tireless, affable, etc, but nobody is landing top classes with his record without money as a driving factor. You know that and guess what, most coaches are likeable to a 17/18 year old they're trying to land.

No fanbase deserves anything. Continue to produce Diaz, Temple coach results (he's equalled neithers best season here or draft picks), then there's some explaining to do. We did it entering year 3 for all of them, why is this coach immune when he's making double or more than them?
I used to give you credit as knowing a lil bit bout what you're talking about. I'll keep this direct. What anyone else says on here has nothing to do with me. You wanna know what I say then feel free to either ask or read up. #1 he's been a lead recruiter everywhere he was at including FIU and here previously. Oregon and Alabama did the same thing most schools did that take football serious previous to nil. They spent money. So let's ignore the fact everyone else did it as well and just say it's nike money. Kool. I get y'all love to assume because a person or two has told you how deep our nil pockets are that it must mean we're outbidding everyone.(That's in the weeks you don't all scream bloody murder about we're broke or anything else that it) None of those are accurate. We're nowhere near broke and we VERY rarely offer kids even close to their highest bids. We are simply competitive with all of it. #2 the geniuses who now say he doesn't develop or have good evaluations... I'll leave it at morons and not go any further. #3 and most important for the people who know jack **** about this game and the reason I asked if you played in college. There's a lil thing called the rules that all schools are asked to follow. One of which states NO PLAYER IS ALLOWED TO ENTER THE NFL DRAFT UNTIL HES AT LEAST 3 YEARS REMOVED FROM HIGH SCHOOL......... Guess who is going into his third year as our head coach. Sortve tough to line up all these recruits who should've already been drafted to justify to y'all that he can do his job. Because now it's Mario's fault that the kids Mandy was getting zero results out of didn't get drafted higher. Results under Mario be damned.

You're absolutely right about logging in by the way.

Debate? No, this is not a debate, sir. A debate is at least two parties providing argument supported by fact on opposing sides of one topic.

You made an absurd comment attempting to ascribe some degree of fault to our DC for the GT loss. I responded with a GIF. You doubled down on the silly sauce. I responded with another GIF. You pivoted to a predictable attempt to shift the conversation towards hatred of Mario and what "everyone knows".

That's not debate. It's closer to the absolute straining of credulity in a stoic attempt to avoid cognitive dissonance, opposed by a successive wave of eye rolls, each further and further back towards the skull.

I know we’ve beaten the convo to death about the chicken or the egg here

But at some point TVD couldn’t even throw a screen pass. The **** you supposed to do as an OC?

Regardless A LOT of questions will be answered this year about our staff
I think people tend to downplay just how tied Dawson’s hands were at quarterback last year. Whether TVD was injured, mentally out of it or whatever, once he crashed they had no other alternatives. Tyler against Virginia might have been the most limited I’ve seen a quarterback since Kirby Freeman. Maybe you can pin some of the blame on coaches for not having any other option at quarterback because Emory Williams should never have been our #2. But really, what do you do as a coach in that situation besides go super conservative because you don’t have a quarterback who can complete passes?

Good quarterback play would have gotten us 10 regular season wins last year. Georgia Tech, NC State and FSU would all have been wins if we just got something out of the quarterback position

Anyone proclaiming we should have national title expectations this year is really reaching. I will GLADLY accept just making it back to the **** ACC title game! We dont even have to win it. Just get there. Thats progress IMO. This is the team that can absolutely accomplish that.

Is there a part of the ranking that takes into account how much eligibility they have? Like if you had 2 equal players but Player A has 1 year and Player B has 3 years, is Player B ranked higher?
I don't think that plays into it that I know of.

I do think when 247 rates a high school player highly, and they transfer after 1-2 seasons, they don't want to lower their transfer ranking too much because then it shows their "evaluations" aren't that good. They try to hold close to their high school ranking in hopes they eventually peform better in years 2-4.

For example they have Julian Sayin ranked ahead of Cam Ward. That is assinine. Their is not 1 single Head Coach in America that would take Sayin over Ward for the 2024 season.

One is a proven high level power 5 QB that has thrown for almost 7,000 yards last 2 seasons, and has 61 combined TD's, and the other hasn't taken a single snap, but Sayin was ranked as a 5 star high school prospect. They also have Dante Moore ranked ahead of Ward. I like Moore, and I think he can be a good college QB, but their is no way you can rank him above Ward right now.

They have Jalen Brown ranked ahead of Tyler Barron. I like Marvin Jones Jr, but you can't rank him above Tyler Barron.

Malik Benson, Shawn Murphy are top 100 portal players. They have Earl Little ranked ahead of Meesh Powell.

Nah I don't think so. Smooth Brain Bud has said that the portal is such a monster that it's hard to take multiple things into account. Like that, and whether certain portal takes were hits or misses.

Everyone has acknowledged it was bad on his part. Not sure what else is accomplished by constantly bringing this up when we all know it was a f*** up
Does Mario really know what a **** up it was? Because this was the 2nd time he did that and lost a game he had won. And this was a response to your lame-*** attempt at sarcasm about Emory's broken arm and TVD's interception being Mario's fault

Who is responsible for a roster with 1 playable QB, after said playable QB was bad in 2022?

People still bring up graphics of previous coaches, but don't want to be reminded of one of these most brain dead decisions in sports coaching history, that the same coach made, TWICE...

Lame to nobody except you 🤣 but my point stands as eventually responsibility falls on players to execute and can't unilaterally always fall on a coach. In the example of the GT fiasco, even with Mario's bone headed decision why couldn't Chaney properly secure the football as he was taught by countless coaches throughout his life ? You act like not only did Mario make a bad choice but fumbled the ball too.

Why put a player in that position? That is why he is paid $8 MILLION a year. BTW, Diaz had a better record through 2 years than Mario has with a fraction of the resources at his disposal! But I get it, Mario is part of the Columbis Mafia, a former Cane player, so he can do no wrong in the eyes of some on this board. I want Mario to succeed, I'm just not giving him a free pass on everything like some want to.

Kinda lame to laugh at your own half-*** joke

I made that exact point in my post. Maybe they could have chased an experienced guy to compete with Tyler but considering the timeline of Dawson’s hiring it would have been a tough ask to convince a starting caliber quarterback to transfer here in the late portal window. They did a good job of bringing in an experienced guy this year just in case. The fact of the matter is though, very few schools have capable backup quarterbacks these days. If a guy has experience and isn’t starting, he transfers. Look what happened to FSU when Travis got hurt. In 2024, if your starter gets hurt, you’re going to have to deal with a significant drop off. Very few teams hoard quarterbacks
