Miami's Portal Class

This may be a hot take, but if you’re going to push your chips all in on a year that has seen so much shakeup in CFB…this may be as good a year as ever. Look at the total landscape? Lots of coaching changes, lots of realignment, lots of portal roster rebuilding. If you even look at our own conference. Theres lots of good reasons to spend a lot of money to rebuild a roster. Let’s see what happens.

You're trying to make this about something it's not.

You tried to shift blame away from the HC for the dumbest ******* coaching mistake in the history of UM football and blame the defensive coordinator. A defensive coordinator whose defense should have never been on the field. A defensive coordinator of a defense whose mind was already onto which co-ed they'd bang that night.

Agree to disagree on that point? No. Never. Anything that happened after a play was run that night falls 100% on the shoulders of one man. And his name rhymes with Wario Kneeltheball.

Idk how anyone with two eyes can blame the Oc. Yes sure can Dawson draw up better plays a scheme guys open I guess but holy **** TVD was throwing into double and triple coverage like what do u want from him lol

I know we’ve beaten the convo to death about the chicken or the egg here

But at some point TVD couldn’t even throw a screen pass. The **** you supposed to do as an OC?

Regardless A LOT of questions will be answered this year about our staff

He’s not the only coach who had game day concerns that had to prove it. A lot of talent and experience and a QB. No excuses to not be a playoff team. I never said national title good. I said we should be in the top ten esp. with this schedule

I’m not going to waste my time or energy trying to debate you any more. We all know how you feel about Mario. But feel free to beat that dead horse one more time.

He is, but without the NIL backing, I would bet we wouldn't sit much better than we did under whomever. He's delivering the same, or worse, on field results and top notch talent doesn't go to 7-5 record teams.

Debate? No, this is not a debate, sir. A debate is at least two parties providing argument supported by fact on opposing sides of one topic.

You made an absurd comment attempting to ascribe some degree of fault to our DC for the GT loss. I responded with a GIF. You doubled down on the silly sauce. I responded with another GIF. You pivoted to a predictable attempt to shift the conversation towards hatred of Mario and what "everyone knows".

That's not debate. It's closer to the absolute straining of credulity in a stoic attempt to avoid cognitive dissonance, opposed by a successive wave of eye rolls, each further and further back towards the skull.

I hear you, but he's been worse on the field than the guys before him. Could've, should've, what's that, moral victories?

From day one, you and others said he was a guaranteed 2 or 3 wins more a season. Heading into year 3, that's never materialized.

Yes, the talent has been upgraded. Portal season one, same things were said and we put up a worse record than the guy we fired. Season 2 was a push.

There are no excuses. You said we'll be more talented than FSU was last year. Well, if that's the case, then we better see a similar record. If it doesn't happen, then we better figure out what the problem is as it isn't talent.

Lastly, if this place is so insufferable, why login? You can't continue to keep shouting progress, but then it doesn't show up come gameday. With that comes questions and the script so far has gone like every coach we've fired, it's the players fault.

You mean how we'd lose a recruit to Oregon and all anyone would say here, gotta be that Nike money, Knights pockets run deep, they have nobody to recruit against besides USC, seen their facilities, etc? How about while at Bama? Bama recruits itself, grandma could recruit there, and let's not forget the Chargers. His stint down here as a head coach, they weren't out killing it on the trail but nobody does there.

He's tireless, affable, etc, but nobody is landing top classes with his record without money as a driving factor. You know that and guess what, most coaches are likeable to a 17/18 year old they're trying to land.

No fanbase deserves anything. Continue to produce Diaz, Temple coach results (he's equalled neithers best season here or draft picks), then there's some explaining to do. We did it entering year 3 for all of them, why is this coach immune when he's making double or more than them?

I agree no coach is perfect. I would like him to improve his game day coaching. I don't think this squad will be natty contenders until after this season. I think then we should be at that level. I also expect us to go after a transfer QB again. But I think we will be natty contenders in 25 or 26. I tell you what bruh the fall can't get here soon enough.

If Travis doesn’t break his leg, they 1000% go to the playoffs. And that’s a 4 team playoff, not 12 like this year.

I think this team is as talented as FSU was last year. So why can’t the ceiling be the roof? Coach with some competence and let your QB cook. Your DL has 47 combined career sacks, more than anyone in the nation. You got 3 of the 10 best receivers in the ACC. You got a Top 5 national back. You got 5 stars on both lines. Go get it the **** done.

My opinion.

Offense
Offense has playoff talent.
OL will take a small step back. We will miss Lee and Cohen. (Don’t think we would have been sniffing around more portal OL if this wasn’t the case)
George cost us a chance to win two games last year and I’m not counting on him being a changed man till I see it.
QB RB WR1 and slot are top level playoff talent.

Defense
DE are national championship level
DT are Above average. Moving the bigger ends inside on passing downs may help this.
LB are high end playoff level.
CB are good.
Safeties on paper are the worst group in the ACC if Powell is in the slot. If Powell is back at Safety they are still below average.

Coaching
🫣 Mario has a lot on the line this year obviously. I can’t bring myself to say that our last great hope of a coach is a dud so I’m just going to say he’s not national championship material yet.

Dawson I believe the track record on him is beginning to show and he is a very average OC.

Guidry is elite and a national title DC.

So I believe we can make the playoff. I also believe we could lose at the swamp and a team heavy on transfers implodes and we win 7 games. I can’t have high expectations anymore because then every season sucks and the life has already been sucked out of me. My gut says 10-2 with a shot to make the playoff.

If we are comparing this team to FSU last year I believe the major difference is coaching on offense (huge gap in fsu favor) and fsu had a more talented DB & S room. It would be a great game.

These are just my opinions and I understand I am an idiot for having them.
