This could ONLY happen to us. **** my life.

I feel your pain, rok.

It seems like we are constantly strapped with deadweight scholarships and we lose maybe 1 of those stiffs every other year. But, if a guy has any NFL potential in the slightest they leave us high and dry at almost a 100% clip.

And they leave us high and dry even when they don't perform up to their potential. Njoku would be an exception but in recent years we've seen blue chippers come through here, play for ****** coaches, and then go on to kick *** in the NFL. I hate being a Canes fan.

I think he's the best TE prospect in the draft. If his hands show up at the combine/pro day (no drops) he will be a first round candidate, as of now I don't see how he makes past round 2. He is an absolute freak athletically.

The others don't have the long range TD ability that Njoku.

You just have not watched that NC game last year then.

All I saw from OJ Howard in the NC game was that the defense forgot about him. It's not like he was beating his man and then making a bunch of guys miss on his way to the endzone. He was standing, by himself, 40 yards downfield with nobody near him on multiple plays. If tricking the defense into not covering you at all is a legit skill, Howard should be the #1 overall pick.

I'm not blaming him as much as the guys that are here 5-6 years and never sniff the 3-deep.

His combine numbers will be off the charts. I'm talking jaw dropping.

However, if my little brother was on his way, I would probably stay one more year to play with him. That's just me.

Whatever he decides, I wish him the best.

Really depends on what a team is looking for in a tight end. Njoku is far more athletic and a much bigger home run threat than the other TEs coming out. He's more just a big receiver ala Jimmy Graham than an actual tight end anyway. If you don't care about blocking and just want a legit, big play threat in the slot, he's the best available.

Teams don't draft TEs in the 1st round to block. They draft TEs in the 1st round when they're game-changers like Njoku. You can find blocking TEs anywhere. Waiver wires are full of them.

If Njoku were to declare, does anybody here actually think Bucky Hodges would test better than this freak of nature?
Funny u say that if I'm the Patriots I'm getting Njoku or Bucky in the first round..

I see what you did there. Trying to bait me into creating a list.

One person on this board was saying last year that Njoku was our most likely first rounder at the time. Everyone else was talking Coley, AQM, and Kaaya. No disrespect to Herndon, same thing, people were talking him up more than Njoku.

The previous year, I said Burns and the cast of characters others were touring never came to be.

Anyhow, we'll see how it goes. Talent wise, he's got the highest ceiling, same as Burns the previous year and that my friends is what the NFL drafts on.

I can't stand Francis, but she's spot on with the not drafting a blocking TE in the first round. That's right, they draft game changing TE's there and he's one.

21. Houston Texans: David Njoku, TE, Miami
Charlie Campbell has this selection posted in his mock draft, and I liked it a lot, so I chose to copy it. The Texans could use an intermediate threat, and perhaps they'll fall in love with David Njoku if he declares for the 2017 NFL Draft. Njoku's talent level is unreal, and there's a ton of hype surrounding him right now.

Some really high ratings on TE"S but I can't fathom any team using a 1st round pick for one...

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper on Miami QB Brad Kaaya: ?third round, maybe second? | Miami Herald

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper, during a national teleconference Thursday, projected that Kaaya, a junior contemplating entering the 2017 draft, would likely go in the third round, “maybe second’’ depending on how he worked out on Pro Day.

Kiper said Kaaya would do himself a big favor by returning to the University of Miami for his senior season.

-----------------------------

Kiper did not give a projection for UM tight end David Njoku, who is also contemplating leaving early, but said, when asked about Njoku, that “the tight end position’’ in the draft “is so good this year.’’

“There are so many entities there that have ability. Another year certainly would be a plus for a young tight end like that.’’
