Mel Kiper Opines About Kaaya, Njoku, Elder, etc.

Besides his YPC stats from this year, teams are going to really want him after the combine. No other TE will do close to what he will do.

Cant believe guys on here are actually saying that Howard and Butt are better then Njoku? Howard is overrated to me. Reminds me of Jeremy Stevens that came out of Washington. He has a low ceiling and I think he has already hit it like most players that come out of Bama.

Njoku hasnt even begun to scratch the surface of what he can do. He will be the best of the bunch by far.

I could see it but there are a lot of talented receiving TEs in this class. Gonna have to really separate himself from the lot. Needs to have a great combine.

Me personally, I don't know how you don't take Jake Butt before any TE as of right now.

OJ Howard could easily be drafted before him.

PFF has Howard graded as one of the most balanced TE's in cfb (including as the best run blocking TE in the nation, and predicts him to win the John Mackey Award:
"The nation’s most balanced tight end, Howard led the way with an 82.0 grade as a run blocker to go with a strong 78.6 grade as a receiver. He caught all but one of his 38 catchable targets while averaging 7.2 yards after the catch per reception. Alabama fans may still be waiting for Howard to be unleashed in the passing game but his weekly contribution in all phases does not go unnoticed."

And that NFL team would be sorry because Njoku could end up being one of the best TE in the NFL.

What are the legit numbers on Njoku when it comes to his 40 and weight? He looks like the listed 245lb to me, but one draft "expert" I discussed him with thought he was only about 220lbs, and dinged him because he though he was more or less just an oversized WR that offered literally nothing inline in the pros. I think he his blocking is overly maligned. He isn't used inline much, but he stood up Chubb 1 on 1 several times vs NC State. He may not be a good inline blocker, but as strong and tough as he is, I think pro coaches have decent clay to work with there.

Njoku doesnt play te he is just listed there. Herndon starts at te and njoku is playing in the slot majority of the time. Basically all his catches he is flexed out.

Lol @ OJ Howard. Dude can't block that we'll I could care less what pff says. Add to it he is the king of the 5 yard dump off and run out of bounds.

Every year our fans under rate our guys for envy of other programs. Nfl scouts give a f÷ck about that..um pedigree at the te position gives a bump just based off that. He'll Eric Swoope our former power forward is logging mins at TE this year. If Njoku decides to enter..he will make alot of the names touted in here look regular at the combine. Howard has Brad Kayaa legs lmao

Truth. And that's why I said a little while back that the kid was as good as gone. He's getting ready to get paid and deservedly so. Look at the guy. He's a specimen.

If Njoku were to declare, does anybody here actually think Bucky Hodges would test better than this freak of nature?

Really depends on what a team is looking for in a tight end. Njoku is far more athletic and a much bigger home run threat than the other TEs coming out. He's more just a big receiver ala Jimmy Graham than an actual tight end anyway. If you don't care about blocking and just want a legit, big play threat in the slot, he's the best available.

Yeah, that's not true. He gets a fair amount of snaps at TE. Njoku does spend way more time flexed out than inline, but he's in at least a dozen times a game. Like I said, he stood up NC States defensive end Chubb, who is a pro prospect himself, at least twice in the NC State game. He was in line on both of those plays.

After Njoku obliterates the combine he will be the 1st TE taken. The only downside is the drops which he got much better with as the season went on.

6. Tennessee Titans: Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
The Titans stop the run well and get after the quarterback pretty consistently, but the major area of weakness in their defense is the secondary. Both cornerback and safety need to be addressed, so why not take the best player available who happens to satisfy one of those two major needs?

I hadn't listed Quincy Wilson in my 2017 NFL Mock Draft a few updates ago because he hasn't started for very long, so I thought he might return to school. However, Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Draft Rumor Mill that both Wilson and Jalen Tabor plan to declare early, and I'd have to believe that some team will fall in love with Wilson's immense talent level and select him in the top 10.

seems like yesterday pops was on here....

still hope he comes back help the program and still get back draft status without any doubt next year.

He will get his draft status without any doubt this year. He is the best NFL prospect at TE right now. He's not making it out of the 2nd round. Combine could easily push him into 1st round. He's an athletic freak. He is, and should be, 100% gone.
