Mario not defending Cam

Sounds like you’re mad at the admin. We should be questioning administration for hiring the coach that’s putting this together. Mario should have a QB ready that can back up Cam. It’s year three and we’re yet looking for a new QB. I can name about 6-7 kids that I was surprised that played last night. Please be mad at them and not, Cam.
Am not mad at Cam! Really I am not mad at anyone. I am disappointed and confused. None of this would be happening if UM announced Cam was only playing 1st half. Doesn't matter to me who made the decision or why. Fans should have been told before game.

Those of us that have an old school team-first mentality are struggling to accept these "business decision" moves from NIL-era players now with opt-outs and such.

Go ahead and opt-out of cupcake games on the schedule while you're at it. Not a good "business decision" to play in those.
It just hits at several crucial areas of college football. Like you said, what about team first mentality? What about the integrity of the game? Playing a half just to get a record and then hop out is some weak **** IMO. Another guy is skipping playoff games. Is that an oddity or a sign of things to come?

I haven't heard anyone mention it, but in this day and age of widespread legalized gambling, is betting on bowl games as crazy as betting on preseason NFL games? Will the NCAA force schools to announce who is in and out of bowl games like the NFL does with the injury report? Who is going to pay premium prices to attend non-playoff bowl games when they mean nada?

Didn’t the announcers say before the game that he was unlikely to play more than a quarter? I’m quite certain I heard that said….
I don't recall that being announced. That being said, my message you were responding to had nothing to do with whether Cam played in the game or not. It was in reaction to the statement there was any uncertainty as to whether a portal QB was needed (Emory had a full game and a half of experience in "real" competition, not this bowl exhibition) and the need for a new DC. If the coaching staff needed to play the bowl game to make that determination, the Canes are in big trouble.

There’s three ways this could’ve been handled. Two that were right and one that was absolutely incorrect.

1. Sit the game and there’s not one peep from anyone. ✅

2. Play the entire game , get celebrated and sucked off like Shadeur and Travis. ☑️

3. Tell everyone you’re playing then proceed to get sucked off by everyone at how unselfish you are. Start the game and play just to break a record then go sit down at the half. Sorry but that’s the one thing you couldn’t have done.

Him playing affected betting markets and peoples money. People going to the game that maybe wouldn’t have , people that spent money on the trip and hotels. Then there’s the optics.

So he’s willing to play a half and not be worried about the chances of an injury but a full game is too risky ? lol.

I know this is a Cane board but of course it was a bad look for all the things I’ve mentioned . Opinions would be different if was a nole that did the same thing.

Imo it’s not a huge deal and all will be forgotten in a few days but he made a wrong decision and now he’s eating it . Welcome to being a pro and an adult . It’s a learning experience but whoever advised him should be slapped in the face lol.

And Mario could have squelched the noise but went “private” and everyone is taking a beating.

Cam had free reign here to do what he wanted but this was the time Mario should’ve stepped in and been like “ I appreciate everything you’ve done here but you need to just sit this one out or play all the way through”. There’s no such thing as half way pregnant. It was handled badly.

The fans should have been told before the game. I am aware that information would be important for Iowa State, but the fans got screwed. Fans wanted to win. We all knew when Cam did not play, the game was over. This game meant nothing, but it did mean something to the fans. Bowl games are for fans. CFP games have meaning, regular bowl games mean nothing. And now, they have raised my ticket price by 50%! That does not include the parking. For the first time since 1994, may not renew my tickets. Makes me sad. I just don't understand what they are doing to the fanbase.
i do agree it was a bad look for the fans who spent money to travel to this bowl game. Many went simply because it was said Cam was playing.

I saw a media post tonight regarding Josh Allen. It said he cared about his consecutive game appearances so he was going to start the game this weekend and play a bit but then would be sitting and letting the backup take over. Nice and simple but it lets the fan base know he will not be playing the full game. Could have done something like this. How much would it have really affected the outcome?

So ur saying this was cam choosing to sit out 2nd half and not supposedly planned to only play a half ? We got insiders saying two different things lol

I know what Miami is saying but I’m saying what my eyes saw. I could come on here and parrot what I’ve heard but I think that’s bs. If you wanted to see Emory you don’t run the ball an entire half until you absolutely have to pass. It was all runs and a screen for a quarter. The offense turned into last years Clemson game . Maybe more conservative . We know Emory isn’t the qb and was never happening. It was as simple as he needed to get the record , he got it then sat. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out.

I don’t give a **** lol. Come at me. If you’re defending this you’re a mark trotting around in your Ward thong. You can like somebody and still think they handled something wrong. Like I said everyone would have a different take if it were Jordan Travis. I call it like I see it.
I wonder if Cam or his agent told Mario at half time like “yeah I’m done I’m out” and Mario might’ve not liked it but ultimately was forced to accept it. Hence him not going out publicly to clear Cams name and also why the play calling had ZERO indication the staff willingly played Emory to “see what they had”

I also feel like Cam would have went back into the game if Mario let him on that final drive (more of a conspiracy than anything but he looked like he wanted to go back out to lead the final drive) but I think Mario wasn’t having any of that “let Cam save the day” after Cam decided to sit the 2nd half. I don’t think his values of team first fits it.

I think Cam made a business decision and made a last minute one at that and Mario was left scrambling with Emory and that’s why Mario hasn’t came out to defend him.

it’s either that or the UM PR team/Mario are a 0/10 on how to handle these types of situations and didn’t communicate to the public properly what the arrangement (Cam playing only 1 half) actually was. I feel like it’s the Former though

If he only played long enough to set the record, there's some serious irony to it.

Gabriel is probably going to break that record. If Cam had stayed in, he could've slammed the door on Gabriel for good. Mario would've let him throw as many TD as he wanted.
