Mario not defending Cam

No matter how the decision went down, it doesn't excuse Mario and Dawson not having a game plan for Emory. He has been 1 snap from playing all year if Cam was ever injured. So they never had a game plan for Emory the entire season which is pathetic management. They recruited him, he is the backup, WTF have they been doing all year?

People might disagree with me, but as a truck driver, if I don't do 100% of my work, I don't get paid 100%, or I get fired.

This ultimately hurt Cams draft stock.

"The guy was willing to risk injury to break the record, but he wasn't willing to risk it when the game was on the line."

I don't see how you can stand on the sidelines and be a team leader.

If I knew I was gonna spend millions upon millions on Cam Ward next year, I'd have urged him to stay healthy and opt out of the bowl game entirely. One freak play set up by a coaching staff you don't control can mean the NFL team misses out on a great QB with playoff or even superbowl potential for years if Cam pans out.

I don't recall that being announced. That being said, my message you were responding to had nothing to do with whether Cam played in the game or not. It was in reaction to the statement there was any uncertainty as to whether a portal QB was needed (Emory had a full game and a half of experience in "real" competition, not this bowl exhibition) and the need for a new DC. If the coaching staff needed to play the bowl game to make that determination, the Canes are in big trouble.
That was an accident. It was somewhere in the thread. Wrong button probably. My bad.

I listened to Ferman's podcast last night. He made some interesting statements - is this him spreading the story Hecht wants out there? Is this just Ferman protecting Mario (as usual)? or is it possible it's the truth and may explain why Emory looked so ill prepared and terrified?

He said that in the weeks prior to the bowl game, the plan was for Cam to play the entire game. That narrative only changed about 48 hours prior when it was decided Cam would only play part of the game. Ferman says initially it was just 1 Quarter and it stretched to the first half because of the tightness of the game. The implied message here was Cam and his camp decided he wouldn't play the whole game at the last minute.

Fact or fiction? who knows.

This is exact scenario i painted few days ago.

Cam and all made it sound like he was ALL IN, then of course his agent and family banging drum about playing risking "injury", and he got cold feet.

This was a Cam/family/agent decision. Mario wants to win as much as us fanatics do. He wanted an 11 win season, and to finally win a bowl game. He has talked about bowl failures on more than one occasion. He didnt need to see what he has in Emory. Cam left Mario in a tough spot, and just because you dont like him, have MDS, or think he is a meathead doesnt change that.

You can be happy Cam came to Miami
You can wish him all the best in the NFL
You can think he bailed on his teammates in the bowl game, and watched them lose

All 3 can be true

it’s wild that D. Gabriel tied the record Cam just set for most career TDs. Had Cam finished the game he would hold the record solely.
