Luther Campbell is an idiot

He brought up Lsu and Bama....I wonder how many receivers they rotate ?
Honest question.

What gets me us that the took a shot a KB as a WR coach. It's one thing to question how he rotates his WRs BUT it's entirely a different thing to say he is a bad WR coach that can't develop. That's just trying to hurt the program in recruiting...then again it seems like that's what he wants to do.
They don't rotate. No college football teams or NFL for that matter rotate receivers. WR is not a position that rotates players for the sake of getting them burn. Top 3-4 receivers always on the field. Might see an extra receiver on certain play calls/formations. 2nd and 3rd string receivers primarily get in games in blow outs or injuries.

Look at any college football team and its 3-4 receivers and 1 TE with majority of the targets and receptions.

Would it be nice to see some of our other receivers making contributions? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean they wont be productive at all next year. This might be a bad example, but Andre Johnson had 3 receptions in 2000. Was hard to get playing time over 4 proven WR's (Wayne, Moss, Jones, King). That 2000 receiver group was sick. Obviously, he exploded in 2001 when he got his chance. I have a feeling that at least 1-2 of our young receivers on this current roster will make contributions next year. Going into the season, did anybody think that Horton would be our 2nd best receiver?

Thank you for this!
This should end the argument for all the idiots saying he has a point.

Well, unless you are just a freak of nature like Larry Fitzgerald, Megatron, and Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Willams this year, freshman and younger receivers don't get a lot of snaps.

Even programs like Bama and LSU that have produced a ton of NFL receivers lately, majority of them had to wait in the wings before they got serious playing time. Obviously, those receiving corps were elite. Our receiving corps this year is excellent. Not sure I would call it elite, but it's very good, which makes it tough for the younger guys to get playing time.

Of all the things that you could complain about, this is what he complains about?
I don't like his personal tweet at Beard, but he's 100% right about the young WRs. The WRs and QB are the only positions that haven't and don't rotate players.

Next year we face ND in game 1 and UF in game 3. There are only 2 possibilities. We either go into the ND game with a bunch of inexperienced WRs or we bring in portal WRs to play over them.

Either case is bad. Watch this space. D'Money and Pete are already holding podcasts talking about getting experienced productive WRs from the portal for next year.

Quite frankly, I'm sick of it!!! Let's be real. Mario is doing the same thing as Norvell except Norvell can't recruit high school players. Both are relying heavily on the portal which is taking snaps away from players recruited out of high school. Half of the portal transfers have not lived up to billing.

If Mario brings in portal WRs, JoJo, Ny Carr, Chance, and Ray Ray should all transfer. The coaching staff has failed them. None of those guys will have experience going into 2025. It's too late. The coaching staff did the same thing last year. They played only 4 WRs with Horton getting at least some snaps.

I'm not going to sugar coat this. It's a failure. When the transfers come in and we lose the young talent to the portal, we'll look just like FSU with a hollowed out roster full of portal transfers who may or may not pan out. Miami is already being negatively recruited against for the WR position telling recruits they won't play you and they'll add transfer WRs in front of you. None of the current WRs were recruited by Mario or his staff. Horton, X, and George are all from the Diaz era.

Hitting the portal for WRs is just plain lazy when the coaches have had this young talent that they've kept sidelined for an entire season. Wait for the portal to open when Mario will say we need to go out and get experienced WRs.

It's hilarious to me how our fans look at young talent at other ACC schools balling out and say we should have recruited them. I argue they'd just be sitting on the bench like our young WR talent we have now. Secondly, if our young talent were at the other ACC schools, they'd be balling out the same if not more than those other guys.

He's mad about Ray-Ray. 🙄

Funny thing is...
I coached against him when he had Ray-Ray.
He did absolutely nothing to generate any plays for that kid and he finished the game with zero catches and one rush for -4 yards.

He's the last person who should be talkin about "development".
ray ray has done nothing in his career at miami to prove hes earned a spot amongst the top four backs. he doesnt provide any juice in the return game either.

Not sure why anyone cares what he says or thinks. Everyone knows he is an *******. Yes he was Uncle Luke in the 80-90s. But for the last 20 years he has only ****ed on this program. F him and his racist rants
if you disagree with him youre racist. if you agree with him, he loves you. its embarassing how mike ryan lets him on their network

It's a betrayal by the coaches not developing them to contribute in 2025. Should they stick around while transfers play in front of them and they see little playing time for yet another year? You can't have it both ways. Talented players aren't going to stick.

Develop them and play them or they will leave. In that case why recruit them in the 1st place. Truth is, we've used the portal as much as FSU. We have high school recruited talent on the roster. FSU doesn't. That's the difference.

One guy that was part of the 4 WRs that played last year, which I previously stated. He got the fewest snapsbof the 4. Nobody is getting snaps beyond 4 WRs again this year. The difference is that Horton will likely be the only WR returning with experience for 2025.

So, you either send out a majority of your WR group without experience to face ND and UF or you bring in experienced WRs to play in front of them and those same guys that didn't get experiencethis year will get very little next year if portal WRs are brought in. I made it clear those are the choices.

Ray Ray sat patiently 2 years behind X. Now he's going to sit behind a portal slot WR in 2025 because he didnt' get experience? NOPE. If I'm him, I'm out. Not going to be sitting 3 years and not sniff the field. That goes for just about anyone. Especially, guys with talent.

Luke brought up a valid point in a podcast. Again, I didn't like him going after Beard. Luke said look at the Dolphins. Tyrique Hiil doesn't play every down. Waddle doesn't playevery down. None of their WRs do. Why are we running our WRs 100%? It's more taxing in their legs. We see and understand it at running back, but we don't sub at WR? It's actually kind of asinine. We sub every position except QB and WR. QB is understandable. We play 4 WRs some times, so its not really a rotation. There should be at least 2 more WR playing to keep WR legs fresh and wear down the DBs. Instead, our WR's legs are just as tired as the defense.

There was no transfer porta back then. It used to be next man up as the stsrter for the next season. Not any more. You have D'Money and Pete already talking adding WRs from the portal. I'm getting sick of the portal talk to be honest. Every year its, " We don't have experience at position XYZ." "We need to hit the portal for experienced players."

When do coaches take responsibility for development? When do they choose talent over experience from the portal? Those without experience are the coaches fault. They created the problem. Given the option, they are choosing the portal over inexperienced players with talent, that they recruited. Several players could have gained experience for bigger roles next season with playing time this season.

Mario is risk adverse. He'll go to the portal rather than relying on inexperienced talented players If he doesn't have to. If Mario got 2 top CBs out of the portal this year, Frederique would have never seen the field in 2024. Because the CB room was low on bodies and weak, he got the opportunity to show his talent in games and has flourished.

What happened to the top talent Mario recruited?

Several of the portal transfers haven't lived up to expectations. Baron has been a bust in my opinion. Brown has been underwhelming at times. They took snaps from younger players that could be developing.

It's looking more like the NFL in a bad way. The transfers are getting big money, so they're seeing the field even when they mess up. Just like a highly paid NFL free agent. They paid him, so he plays. Baron should have been benched 4 games ago. He took snaps from Mesidor and Bryant. ****, you could include the DTs as Moten and Clark are seeing more snaps now that Mesidor is back a DE and Baron on the bench.

I understand your concerns, but who is to say that some of our younger receivers aren't currently developing as the season is going on right now. Perhaps they still aren't good enough to replace the starters, which all happen to be very good.

Horton was not one of our top receivers last year. He rarely played and had a total of 13 receptions last year. I remember some plays where he looked lost out there and very uncomfortable running some patterns. Talk about a player who needed to develop. Now, he is one of our best route runners and looks natural out there.

If we go into next season and none of our WR recruits over the last 2-3 years show any improvement, then I might have some concerns with Beard.

Real development happens with live reps. Practice is not the same as the live bullets of game experience.

They only played 4 WRs last year. Horton was WR 4 with only 13 catches. We had Restrepo and George returning this year. That's 3 WRs with experience and they went and got Brown.

What are they going to do next year? Is Mario going to trust that his young WRs will be ready to contribute at a high level by first game of the season against ND? I can tell you. Mario is going to the portal because he won't put his faith in inexperienced players if he doesn't have to. He's not going in the spring and the fall camp without proven game experience at WR.

That's why I call it a failure and a betrayal. He put all that effort to get these top talented WRs on the team, but only 1 will return in 2025 with any significant experience and he wasn't recruitedby Mario. That's doing the players and the team a disservice.
