Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

I’d take Mendoza, some of you are just star whores. He is a legit pro style QB and smart as ****. Better than Emory right now and that’s what our other option is right now. Great kid too and local.
The best QBs in the NFL are not “pro style” QBs anymore. We gotta get rid of that ****. He’s a pocket passer. He’s ******* Will Rogers.

He's definitely better than the current options on the roster. We were spoiled by landing Cam, but landing a QB like that every year is unrealistic.

Who are the best QB's in your opinion?

Neither Cam or Sanders are dual threat QB's and they'll be the first two taken in the draft this season. The term "pro-style" has morphed into a pass first QB that's athletic. You don't have a ton of Lamar Jackson's and Jalen Hurts in the NFL.

Mahomes
Allen
Goff
Stroud
Herbert
Nix
Darnold
Mayfield
Stafford
Geno

Lamar, Josh Allen, Mahomes. Jayden Daniels maybe already on the list. None of which are what anyone means when they say “Pro Style”. The only one that has a case for that is Goff, and he’s been tremendous this year for sure but his career is sort of my point on that kind of QB. If the situation is perfect you can win a lot of games with them, but we are nowhere near that.

Neither Allen or Mahmoes are dual threats. They are athletic pass first QB's. I edited my post with the best currently. There's more of Mendoza style in the NFL than not.

There’s literally no point in a discussion if you’re going to say Josh Allen isn’t a dual threat. None.

And I never said dual threat. I said not a pocket passer. Mahomes and Ward share similarities in their escapability. Mendoza does not.

I'll give the escapablity angle. However, there's not a Cam Ward in the portal this year.

If you go back and look at the Miami game (with OUR defense), he wasn’t the igniter for them, it was Ott. FM was only 50% against our defense and only had that one nice td to the TE. The other td pass was a broken tackle delight by Ott. If he wasn’t from Miami and Mario didn’t play with his dad, this would not even be a consideration.

I’m honestly not sure if Mendoza beats out Emory. If this is the guy and he beats out Emory, okay. We are going to be run heavy regardless. I just hope we spending $$$$ at other critical positions then.

And honestly, that might not be the worst plan as I’ve said before this portal group of QBs isn’t very deep.

@cway313

Not saying Mendoza is anywhere near that level, but he's not a statue back there. Mateer is going to OU. Who would you want to bring in or are you riding with Emory?

You’re not sure he beats Emory? Are you serious?
