I think we can disagree about the level of racism in various parts of the South, or America for that matter, all day long.

But y’all are outa yer minds to compare any other parts of the South to 5hithole Alabama.

I would love to put up the name of the gas station in Alabama that tell black players they have to go elsewhere for gas. I'm just saying, some of these kids don't care, because to them it's all about the bag. Most politicians in the south are in the clan, and a lot of boosters are too. It's the good o'l boys club, but they control the bags. Look at Saban and his 5 rings at Bama. In the end as long as the kids get a good education and are able to get a job to contribute positively to this Country I'm behind them. Most people in the clan aren't even racist. It's a fraternity. Life is about Yin and Yang.

The crazy part for me( & its tough as a life long cane) is to admit some of these kids go on ov & see what a real college atmosphere is like & they get hooked. Im not gonna lie. Its something we justbdont have the ability to sell. Hundred plus thousand people camping out all weekend and tailgating up until kick off. Knowing the entire town bleeds ur schools sports & nothing else... its a legit sale.

Understand what you're saying but it's also a dime a dozen experience across college football and CERTAINLY not unique in any aspect to Athens or the entire SEC. I could randomly pick almost any gameday experience/town love affair from the Big and Slow Ten and it'd dwarf what these kids are running to in the SEC. The only difference is you're more likely to get lynched if you run into some "fans" of the program 15 mins outside of the SEC college town.

**** yeah. For me one of the trips i went on (because i was piping the captain of their gymnastics squad)was to Michigan. I gotta say never once did i ever dream of going anywhere but um. But good lord was the michigan ohio state gameday atmosphere absurd. Like nothing ive ever seen. But for me & for those of us who come here were a different breed. Theres something about here & the brotherhood we have with each other that could never be replaced by a bunch of strangers.

That brotherhood doesn’t seem to be the same as when you were coming up Dee...These kids will Go ANYWHERE

Its on its way back. One thing i was forced to come to grips with during my nephews recruitment was (up until at best the last 2 years) we had become a second tier program. We were living in a vacuum due to numerous airings of 30 for 30 yet our players & our fans still felt entitled due to our past which honestly these last few staffs failed to embrace. Kids looked at us nationally like syracuse or rutgers. It was embarrassing yet in order to change it we had to embrace what we became. Only way to change that is to take it head on.when i first started talking to my nephew about us he didnt even comprehend what it meant to put on this u. He didnt know our traditions or our past. For him its always been unc knows everybody & does this & that. He didnt know what it comes from. I literally had to start schooling him on old game tapes and bringing him around when we all get together before he realized the pride we have & how he had the oppurtunity to be a part of something very special that he can be a building block of. Thats why i laugh at these charecters on here who say im so negative & complain about the staff. I express myself to coach & the rest of the staff on a daily every oppurtunity i can. They are salvation for those of us who are real canes. They took us from a very dark time & are fighting to get us back where we belong against even our own idiot zealots. They understand we all have opinions or critiques. But when its all said and done a fan can express their expectations. We simply account for our standards. Some cant understand that.

Well it’s going to take continued winning to get that feeling of brotherhood back.not just one year every three-four years.5-10 year runs of beating everyone.

At that point the kids that are part of this will be able to feel and project that feeling to the young kids but most importantly those young kids will see the U as a winner unlike the generation that is your nephew that only knew that winning feeling through those 30/30 like you said.

We are on the upswing now but we need these kids to WANT to put on for the home team like Howard got those kids back then to want to when all this started. Its kind of a catch 22 cause you need the talent to win but the kids want to play for a winner. We just have to have enough of the studs like Campbell, like Surtain,Like Pope,Like Nesta that are willing to take that plunge to get the home team back to greatness.

We are on our way.I keep saying the U ain’t back yet but you can see the lights of the finish line off in the near distance.

Sick and tired of Canes fans chasing recruits who doesn’t have interest in playing football with hometown team. I rather focus on who wants to be a member of Canes roster in 2018, and the coaching staff developing their positions units. Diaz LBs needs to step up this year, and Rumph CBs learning how to locate footballs in the air. I expected the offensive to be more creative, and move players around to help Qb read man or zone.

UCF coaching staff won with less talent or maybe Auburn was overrated! By the way, the 2019 class is the one with the best players!

I live in Biloxi, on the Coast. My dad is from the Delta, the poorest place in the State. He played RB for Milsaps(if you ever heard of that college). I played baseball at Miami Dade South, before going to Miami.

My daughter and grandkids live in Biloxi. She grew up there so I spent a lot of time over there.( I was divirced from her mom) great place without a hint of racism that I ever saw.

I also played at Dade South under Charlie Green.Ron Polk was the pitching coach when I was there.

I’d be willing to bet it was a few years before you were there..lol

like there is no racism in the northeast? people in the northeast just figured out how to subtly segregate their neighborhoods.

Speaking from what I've seen personally, upstate New York has more confederate flags than most places down south. No joke.

Look; I’m from Chicago and So. Central LA....Chicago may be one of the most racist cities in America. Illinois was one of the first states that slaves migrated to and they were treated hella bad. There’s an invisible line in Chicago that divides the North and South sides. ****, I didn’t even know what Downtown Chicago looked like as a kid until I moved and went back as an adult b/c it wasn’t safe for young Afro-Americans to b there w/o being harassed.

LA is vastly segregated w/o it being considered “segregated.” True fact; I know u guys hear about “So. Central LA,” but in reality, there is no So. Central part of LA. So Central was a name given to the part of LA that housed the most minority and poor. It was the name given once majority of the white population left so it could distinguish itself from the more affluent areas of LA. So. Central was a Harlem Renaissance once upon a time, another area where Southern Blacks moved to for Safe Haven. That was all changed when LAPD and The Sheriffs would use 1950’s Southern tactics harassing young men and women, tactics that were still being used today, just not as prevalent. ****, LA’s first gang wasn’t the bloods or crips, it was the “Spook Hunters,” a group of white teens whose sole purpose was to hunt down young Afro-American men and women. That’s the real reason y the Crips came about to fight against them. Needless to say, a vacuum was created.

Anyways, not trying to give a history lesson or hi jack this thread...point is, racism is everywhere. U can’t sell a recruit on that, b/c even the most “liberal or diverse” cities have racism lurking. It’s not a South thing, although it’s more tolerated and in some ways perpetuated in these regions, imo.

F it, just win and create a winning culture; that’s how u get recruits. Lol.

its more a cultural thing I feel. I knew northeast kids that went on visits to bama and other sec schools and didnt feel it at all. call it "country" "the sticks". race didnt really come up, they didnt really like the black dudes they were chilling with down there.

listen, NY, Boston, Philly, all have racial issues too.

You can't possibly think the number of racists at Miami is anywhere near the number anywhere in Alabama. People self-select, and the kind of folks who choose Miami are less likely to be racist than the kind of folks who choose bama. Everybody has racists, but racists are more likely to go to some schools than others.

Our game day experience is as good as anywhere in the country when the team is rolling. ND players said it was the most raucous place they've ever played at.

The VT and ND games were a sampling of what our home field will be when we start winning consistently and competing for championships. We will do that when the local kids like Surtain and Campbell decide to put on for their city and not some flimsy redneck KKK town in the middle of nowhere where they'll never stay.

Since 95% of the clowns that post here weren’t at the games, they don’t know about our game day atmosphere at those games.

VT and ND are the 2 best times, most fun, and most religious experiences I’ve had in the last ten years outside of a couple of hours I spent helping the milf next door set up her dvd.

I always add the moment the skies opened up and it started to pour against GT to that "religious experience" column. The place had a palpable constant electricity from there on out.

Yea it did. It was so weird. It just charged everybody up. It’s so hard to explain unless you were there. That was fun as well.

It’s so great to talk to people that actually attend games and are actual fans rather than the constant bītching and negativity. Over the many years I’ve read message boards, I honestly don’t think they accurately represent the actual fanbase. Those people who manage to get up off their asses to go to games, home or away.

This is what I tried to explain to my two boys. Both came with to every home game sans Cuse. It was the first time both of them got the experience I chirped about since birth. I have an 8 and 12 year old if that frames it. Most fun I’ve had in years.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly.

Like I said. You have to be there. We have about 5 maybe 10% that post here that actually bother to go to games. The rest are just blowhard pretend fans that like to bloviate.

What a **** show

Our insiders are having an internet fight.

5hit. Just. Got. Real.

Until Brooklyndee comes with a Dee Work I’m not sure how to score it.

This is kind of embarrassing

Players/recruits read this ****

Thank Mods

It’s getting worse.....somehow....multiple threads down.....mayday mayday

The "players read this" **** is so stupid. They also have a twitter. Everything any fan base is saying about a kid gets back to them

The ND game in particular was something I had been waiting for for what felt like 15 years. Totally surreal experience.

Pete’s been saying for a while that Campbell isn’t coming, and Surtain has always been a long shot. Not sure why everyone is so shocked and triggered by Nacho’s info.

Pete also said jobe was coming... things change is the only point. Its not that petes info is no good. It is & at that time we all thought hed stick for the most part. But recruiting is liquid & ill stick to what the coaches think & thats were in play at the top for all 4.
You mean the same coaches who thought Jobe was coming?

It's like Trump saying he's a Republican or Farrakhan saying he's Muslim. Some people will sell their soul to make a buck.

Trump said Mexico was going to pay for the wall, now Americans have to pay for it because some Republicans in the House and Senate who aren't racist have to get their base to accept it without DACA. "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" Some don't want to deport kids, but if they want to fit in they have to play the game and join Trumps Frat.

Also, AEPhi considers itself a ****** sorority, but not a religious organization. You also have HBCU Greeks and Asian and Latino Greeks. Multicultural Greeks aren't considered or seen as real or Traditional Greeks. Greek Life is from Ancient Egypt. Greek Gods are Egyptian Gods.
The God Zeus is Amun-Ra the Egyptian Sun God or Zeus Ammon.

The Sphinx represents Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. The Pyramid represents Delta Sigma Theta. Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity is represented by the
Scroll. Sekhmet represents Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Sekhmet tested the soul of the dead during their passage.

The rabbit hole goes deeper, but I'm trying to get you to understand how it's really all so simple. You have so many connections in life in business, education, careers and materialistic wealth. The soul doesn't need to be feed dreams to live life, only the mind does.

I wonder how that "gameday experience" and town love affair was at UiF this year? Funny how we get judged on that front by previous bad years/stretches and everyone else gets judged by their previous good years or best stretches-- especially in the conference where "it just means more".

Exactly. Did you see the gameday experience toward the end of the season in Tallahachee? It looked like our gameday experience when Folden was here.

These dudes need to have some local pride and build something HERE instead of tap dancing for the KKK. Be like Mel Bratton and Alonzo Highsmith and those dudes when they decided that they wanted to make their hometown team the best in the country. Those dudes could have gone anywhere, and UM hadn't won anything when they signed here. They came here on blind faith and with the idea of making a difference and putting on for their city. It worked out beautifully. And those dudes will always be local heroes.

Bennie Blades is another guy who could have gone anywhere. He stayed home. He's had his struggles after his playing days ended, but I'll tell you this: If I or any other local real Canes can ever lend a helping hand to him, we will.

When a piece of excrement like Phony Michel inevitably returns to South Florida and needs work or something else, I'd kick his *** out the door on a rail. I'd do anything legally within my power to make sure guys like him and Kaindoh's Kuck get shunned and blackballed. We need to instill some local pride one way or another.

this brought a tear to my slanted eyes

It’s also a legit sale to play for the most elite football brotherhood in football.
In one of the most international cities in America. No college party scene trumps spring break down here. Or memorial weekend. Or winter music fest. I could go on but I’ll digress. Been to uf and fsu back in my day to visit friends. No way I would skip out to go there or to tuskkkaloosa or Athens. If your a good ole boy we have the davie rodeo, the best fishing in the world and you can go 4 wheeling and hunting in the glades. No competition. Don’t even get me started on the women down here. Can’t even go to publix without seeing hot women.

you think brooklyn is a recruit or something? you think you need to sale HIM or UM?

I know who he is (not personally). But recruits read this board. And his voice carries weight. Just offering a counterpoint to this “college experience” narrative. Colbert went to Texas for Christ sake and wanted to know if his injury let him have another year of eligibility. That dude loved it here and recruited for us. Not to mention he was about to look for a 9-5 if we didn’t get a hold of him.

I know what you're saying I am just mentioning in my post that there are some kids that just want to leave south florida for school. People want to blame Rumph instead of thinking the kid just wanted to leave. They have lived it their whole lives and just want to experience something different.

I had 2 close friends that went through the recruiting experience from my highschool, one was Mr. Football his senior year in FL and an army all-american. The stories he would tell of his visits made me want to be a highly touted recruit instead of a walk-on. I even went with him on an unofficial to UF for the FSU UF game for a free ticket (Miami was away at Pitt that weekend). The fact of the matter is that was over a decade ago and I can only imagine how it goes for recruits now. Some kids like the limelight and being in a town where you THE show.

Also, I hear you on the women in Publix in South Florida, but be for real, a lot of these kids don't have 2 nickels to rub together so getting women in South Florida as opposed to college coeds in SEC land where they through themselves at you is also something these kids like. Again these are 17-18 year olds who get big eyes when they get to an area where the town revolves around the school and you are the celebrity.

If woman were are problem then no one would come. These are 18 year olds were dealing with. Again, Adrain Colbert went to the epitome of “college experience” in the Texas Longhorns and wanted another year of eligibility here for an elbow injury. Didn’t even care about the draft. I’m pretty sure he had no problems with coeds in Texas.
To quote Jonathan Vilma “if you think we needed nevin shapiro to get alcohol and women your crazy”.
Being a college athlete at um is nowhere the same thing as playing highschool. This other narrative that playing for UM is like the 13th grade is crazy.
Ask any former sofla athlete that went to UM if it was anywhere near the same experience as playing for/living near southridge or Deerfield. Even Dj Ivey talked about how different it felt to OV as apposed to just visiting.

Bro, I have no problem with you and where did I say women were the problem? I responded to your comment about women in publix and the trim in SF as opposed to SEC sorority coeds. Im not saying Colbert had problems with coeds in Austin or Miami. I am saying the perception of things is completely different from Miami to Austin.

And bro, Nevin was a troll, ESPN made him out to be way more important and influential than anyone on the team made him out to be. I know that for a fact.

Who said being a college athlete at UM is like the 13th grade? I know it wasnt, I lived it for a time. I am not saying that South Florida kids dont want to play for UM, many do. I am saying that there will ALWAYS be a couple that want to leave, regardless of the COACH they played HS or Pop Warner ball for. That was my entire point to the thing. Some kids just don't want the Miami lifestyle and see the flashing lights at other schools is all. Miami is a big city where they are generally small names compared to a lot of these other places where there are small cities and they are big names. Tough choice for kids this day and age.

You guys are ridiculous. Yesterday his same source was saying Canes. Today his source says UGA and others and life is over. There's still 3 weeks. How about we let this play out...
You Sir are a voice of reason. I agree let’s let it play out.

And here we are on Monday and no one has committed elsewhere that I have seen/heard. A good sign will be if they make the official visit to us Feb 2. If they do we have a good shot. If they don't we know the deal. The fact that Bama is sending out new offers to CBs is a good thing. The fact that TC hasn't given a pledge to Kirby Fart is a good thing.

Why wouldnt they want to play for rumph? What did he do to them?

I understand there must be a scapegoat in many peoples minds, and the easy one for everyone is Rumph because of the AH connection. Maybe just maybe they don't want to go to school in south florida anymore? Y does it have to be they don't want to play for Rumph?

The crazy part for me( & its tough as a life long cane) is to admit some of these kids go on ov & see what a real college atmosphere is like & they get hooked. Im not gonna lie. 100% agree. I never dreamed of doing it a different way.

I've never lived down there as I am from the Tampa area and been away with the Military since 1993. But, we spent many a vacation down there for years. These other schools do this once a week for what 6-7 games. That equates to 6 or 7 days a year. Miami is like that year round. Beaches, women, good weather, good food, etc.. On top of that, you never know who the **** you are going to run into down in Miami. I know, I'm just preaching to the choir.
