Tears Last Nerve III: Head to Head Against Deion (was Neon Deion Coaching Megathread)

Never seen so much hype for a coach who's basically a few years removed from high school coaching and has yet to win/develop ****.

Some people are acting like this MF'er is a god.
He got 1 guy to make a splash. And that moved them all the way up to 29th.

Third thread in a series of schools we thought were a recruiting joke, but folk aren't laughing anymore as they're serious competition.

Deon and the Buffs are the flavor of the day and we're now going head to head with them (and MSU) for a lot of recruits now. From what @Cribby has mentioned in other threads, the Colorado NIL is no joke (unlike UF and FSU) so its not just Deon recruiting with no money behind him.

Deon has irritated me for a long time. Didn't like his flash over substance at FSU

The old school Canes put him in place after they begged for Miami. Hoping Mario will do the same 30 years later.

Current score:

Deon: 2
Mario: 2

2022 Battles

  • Deon swoops in and steals Kevin Coleman from Mario at the last second

2023 Battles

  • Deon tried to flip Antoine Jackson and was sent packing
  • Deion tried to flip Mark Fletcher and failed.
  • Deon swoops in and flips 5* Cormani McClain from Miami.

2024 Battles

  • Justin Scott (both in Top 10)
  • KJ Bolden (both in Top 15)

You could have at least spelled his name right.

His Flavor if fresh right now but the losses coming to that program will make it sour really quick.

I just dont think people understand the work it takes to run a top D1 program. Jackson St he sold last chance kids, the HBCU is coming mantra, etc. The 3 and 4 stars he got were going up against schools like Miss Valley St that were getting 0 stars...kids who were looking at D2's.

Power 5 is X's and O's (Coaching staffs), Structure from the Janitor up to the AD, and Recruiting (which is a job in itself). Deion is doing podcasts, espn, fox sports, commercials, his own videos. So his self promotion continues to grow and when this goes south in year 3 or 4 he will come out looking rosy.

Yeah. It’s absurd reading about the hype job this clown has done to mask any real substance. Unfortunately most people nowadays have the attention span of a gnat, so he will likely get away with it for a while.

There is no way prime rib is structurally, developmentally, schematically, providing any other advantages relative to other even decent programs outside of blowing hot air up peoples asses.

Excellent idea by OP to have a gathering spot for all the Deion slurpers who have infested the board

So when Rashada goes there are we counting that as well? **** we might as well fire Mario and hire Deion? Did I do that right?

If he wanted to be a serious coach, he'd be calling himself Coach Sanders.

Deion is doing a good job controlling the narrative to make it seem as if the kids are committing just to be coached by him. In actuality, Cormani just got a huge NIL deal to commit to Colorado.

That's the point; he's all hype—hence the Coach Prime nickname and reality show on Amazon. Deion has always been a self-promoting guy. Used to be able to back it up as a player, but no chance he does it as a head coach.

Anyone with his pedigree can sell Travis Hunter and Cormani McClain on the dream (Hunter selling McClain, as well about playing together.)

We thought Miami fans were ornery when the Canes went 5-7 last season... look at Prime's schedule.

@TCU, Nebraska, Colorado State, @Oregon, Southern Cal, @Arizona State, Stanford, @UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, @Washington State, @Utah.

This m'fer about to go 3-9 next year and will undoubtedly have some embarrassing chess match losses.

Curious to see how things play for McClain the next two weeks now that he's back home in Lakeland around coaches, advisors, friends and family. Are the all on board with the Coach Prime hype train—or will they remind him that his heart was in Miami before this distraction in Boulder.

and lets be honest...they were so bad this year that progress can be made almost by accident. So he can go from 1 win to 2/3 this year then maybe 4/5 next year just on getting better talent. But year 3 is where the shine will likely wear off. Year 3 if done right he should be looking at 7+wins if he truly is the guru.

Media can't lose on this one.

They aid him in building up the aura and he somehow backs it up or has people argue his perspective, or he flails and that's used as an opportunity to tear him down.

Either way, the outcome is a combo of eyeballs and mindless engagement.

See Lavar Ball and so many others.

Profit.

These dudes got blasted last year. **** Cal, what were you doing? Cormani and kin are all about the money and nothing else. Boulder sure as **** ain't Miami. Enjoy it.

What this should be telling ya, brother...is that you need better social media engagement, get yourself a documentary crew, learn how 2 Youtube.

Profit?

Colorado will be no joke in terms of NIL moving forward. The revenue and taxes they generate from legal marijuana will make them a serious contender for the foreseeable future.
Not sure how legalized marijuana helps Colorado recruit but more and more states are legalizing it. Colorado has already seen a large drop in revenue and it will just get worse for the state.

Can we define when we at CIS care about rankings?

Because I see it used a lot to prove one point and mocked as well…

Deion won last year at an HBCU... lets see him win at CU.

Lets see how he handles losing. Lets see who he blames. Lets see how he makes adjustments.

It would be diff if he walked into Alabama but he didnt he walked into CU and next season is going to be tough for him. Personally I think it all blows up in his face.
This is exactly how I think on Deion. You can snipe a player or two at JSU and dominate your schedule. Doesn't work at the power 5 level. Deion has honestly never really coached at anything anywhere near what he's stepping into. I think as long as they have $ they'll be a threat for a player or two here and there, but not going to just become a major factor nationally
