Lane Kiffin

I don’t remember the schollies, I honestly thought it was more than that maybe someone can actually look up the number over the three years, but for at least three years that cloud was hurting recruiting badly.
It ultimately was 6 schollies and a fine. Compared to Butch's 31 schollies, No Bowl or TV for a yr, Sports Illustrated calling For Football program to be dismantled, Time Magazine calling Miami worst place to live in America, and the Murder of Up & coming LBer & GF on campus no less, it was literally nothing.

Yeah, I’m not arguing that those the worst sanctions comparatively speaking, I’m just saying I think maybe the recruiting effect starting in 2011 were still pretty bad and you also have to remember that the death penalty was on the table for us.

During that time, that was talked about frequently, in fact, Emmert even mentioned the death penalty. What saved our asses was the way the NCAA ****ed up the investigation and gave us grounds and we were able to threaten them back.

Wasn't the subject comparing the sanctions Lane went through at USC to what Golden went through?

The Death Penalty would've never happened after what it did to SMU.

Worse than UMs 95-2000 Sanctions??? or the silly Cloud 12-13yrs ago??...If you meant the 95-2000 Sanctions, you're Crazy....
Most of us went through that dark period and it sucked but objectively speaking USC’s were worse and correct me if I’m wrong.

Miami: reduced scholarships 7, 11and 14 the next. One year bowl ban. So reduced a total of 31 scholarships. Capped at 80 players. 3 years probation.
Edit: forgot the initial 7 scholarship reductions

USC: reduced 10 scholarships each year for 3 years, 2 year bowl ban, junior and seniors could freely transfer. 30 scholarships. They capped scholarship players to 75 max. And Lane couldn’t do what Butch to his genius did by putting guys on track scholarships bc the NCAA had closed that loop hole. 4 years probation.

So I’m open to an argument that ours was worse but just based on that it doesn’t appear it was.

Also when Lane was under sanctions at USC he still pulled in the #3, #3 and #8 class in recruiting. Let me know when Mario pulls in back to back top 3 classes or 3 consecutive years of top 10 classes. I will wait bc for all his recruiting prowess he has yet to do either…. And that’s without sanctions

Now go back and look at those classes for Kiffin at USC and tell me that they were ranked correctly.

UGA next week
I expect them to lose by 10-13, even with Bobo handicapping this UGA offense a bit like he did today. Ole Miss has zero pass defense and Beck looks like a pretty good QB. Lovett can move and McConkey is underrated.

But, Ole Miss has legit WRs and Dart gives them a chance to make a play nearly every throw, plus Judkins can carve them up on the ground. UGA had trouble with the outside run plays, so I do expect some points put up.

He was the guy I wanted and have wanted here for some time.....and Jesus this is one of those instances where I hate the fact I ended up being right. Even when this incompetent administration TRIES to do something good, they just can't get out of their own way. They refuse to hire the best candidate.....this asinine perception that a "Miami guy" is needed for the job is just about the dumbest thing I've ever witnessed.

Objectively how was ours worse? Pretty much same amount of scholarships loss in same number of years (31 vs 30). Miami's Juniors and Seniors weren't free to leave unlike USCs (although I'm sure Butch probably wouldn't have minded it all too much given the bad apples we had at the time lol). USC was capped at 5 less max total scholarships). USC also had one more year of a bowl ban than Miami and an additional year of probation.

I will say it's a testament of how much of a stud Butch was to come through that and put together such a phenomenal team in such a short period of time. USC still hasn't gotten back to national title contention until recently.

National perception was wayyyy worse. For many yrs the NCAA and public were foaming at the mouths to bury UM and that supposed "Thug" and "Rap" portrayal.
Time Magazine didn't call Southern Cal the worst place to live in America.
Sports Illustrated didn't call for USC to end their program.
An up & coming LBer and GF weren't Murdered on USCs campus.
So Yeah, all things included, UMs was worse.
