Lane Kiffin

My original point in this thread was the guy was given things to easily when he was young , but got humbled. Then worked his way back from Fau then to Ole Miss. With a stop under Saban. He deserved to get fired at usc but there was definitely some effect even with ten scholarships and people knew they were getting slammed by the ncaa. There’s no way to know exactly when they felt it. It’s semantics at this point. I just think he’s at the top of his game after everything. I still want Mario first.

Mario over Lane?

I think Mario would do very well here, especially in recruiting, but I worry about the type of offense he would run here.

I just cannot trust Kiffin. That garbage he pulled at Tennessee was just terrible. I am afraid he will do something like that to us.
Does that miami is done. We are and living in the past. We will never be the old CANES. It hurts but it's reality.

You can say the same about lane and defense

I agree, we will hire and, probably will have to, fire and a good DC or two with Lane. No doubt!

Mario's lone strength is recruiting, of which he is ELITE. But, and I'm trying to be as respectful as possible, we can expect some questionable coaching decisions.

Truthfully, It would make my Christmas to have either as HC.

SWFL seems to think this is a moot point because he never would be considered. Do you have the same opinion?
I tend to agree and he might not even be the first choice of many of us but I'd also like to know exactly what he did that still warrants the license to instantly dismiss him by the likes of our administration or to laugh at him by members of the media?

All I see is a dude that got too many opportunities while he was too young and perhaps lacked the maturity to excel in them but he didn't do anything sooooo egregious that it should still be following him now. He's built a pretty solid resume which is more than you can say about many of the people that reflexively **** on him as a professional and even as a person.

I’m watching this Miss/A&M game… Everybody clamoring over Mario. We need Kiffin. This dude has figured it out. I’d give my left and right nut for Kiffin to come to Miami. Somebody make this happen
I agree. He has the aptitude and swag that would work in Miami. I also think he believes he could recruit and truly challenge the Bagas and jawgas at a place like Miami. That said the Admin will keep Mandy or bring in some unthought-of goofy coach.

Let’s get Brian White from FAU as AD. His connection to Kiffin could bring him to UM. Also, White’s pretty good himself, so’s his brother Danny of UCF and Tenn. AD jobs. Could do worse, actually we have.
I’ve brought up the White family several times. The experience, lineage. I’ve met Brian White a few times and this dude is going places. FAU is a just a pit stop.

Miami would be stupid to not interview him if James is terminated. As to the connection w/Kiffin, well, it would make too much sense for the idiots that run Miami.

He certainly had too much too young.

That said he's also not changed his personality after those humbling experiences. He's clearly still very much a prick.

I think that's true to an extent but if we're applying the "prick standard" to college football head coaches then there's an epidemic that far surpasses anything Monte's son is doing.

I just think his rehab tour actually worked more than on the image front though. He's at minimum a competent head coach now and you really hear zero issues with or about him from the actual people and players he deals with daily.

I'd personally be wayyyyy more concerned about a Dan Mullen type of prick being hired here than a Kiffin type because the Kiffin type seems to only be engaging in that stuff to pump up his own program and to take shots at other programs. A prick of the Mullen type or even maybe Mike Leach type where it's a permanent personality trait and plays out detrimentally in-house becomes a cancer within a program reallllll fast the moment things inevitably go south.

It looks like Kiffin figured it out finally. He's winning in the SEC. For once I'd like to get a head coach who wants to stay at Miami though. I don't know if Kiffin wants to stay in college or try to get to the NFL again. Same with Mario. Is his ultimate goal the NFL?

I’ve met Brian thru my SIL who has a relationship with Danny his brother. Great guy, good AD. Treated my son and I great at an FAU game. Would be a good fit at UM.

I thought that as well, but if the person running football wants him theres a shooters chance. Not saying it would happen but his name has been mentioned.
Agree, under Flake it wasnt going to happen. I know if Mario says no he is #2 on a few of their lists.

with that Ole miss defense? no freaking way. He's a HC, so he's in charge of BOTH sides of the ball and one side is historically bad. it'll catch up to him
