Lane Kiffin

Don't know if this has been posted, but here is breakdown of his college coaching record at every school, both as head coach and coordinator/position coach. I know he bombed in the NFL, but I could care less as that was well over 10 years ago for the worst franchise during that period. Saban didn't do so well in NFL and we would all kill for him.

USC: 2001-2006 - From WR position coach starting in 2001 and ended as their WR/OC from 2005-2006. Juggernaut of a program while he was there and he was very instrumental in their success

Tennessee: 2009 - Head Coach. Went 7-6 in his only year, losing to Virginia Tech in bowl game. Played both #1 (at time of game) Florida and Alabama very tough. Worst losses were to Ole Miss and Virgina Tech. Some could say he underperformed here.

USC: 2010 - Head Coach. Went 8-5 his first year there. Not eligible for bowl game as they were on first year of 4 year probation which included 2 year bowl ban. This probation and sanctions were both mandated by NCAA and self sanctions. Lane brought in very highly ranked recruiting class.

USC: 2011 - Head Coach. 10-2 record. Not eligible for conference championship or bowl game as part of post season ban mandated by NCAA

USC: 2012 - Head Coach. 7-6 record, losing to Georgia Tech in bowl game. This season was considered a huge disappointment as USC had returned 18 starters.

USC: 2013 - Head Coach. 3-2 record. Fired hours after losing to Arizona State 62-41. USC finished that season 10-4 under interim coach Ed Orgeron.

Alabama: 2014-2016 - OC/QB coach. No secret he changed Bama's offense to more wide open, explosive scheme while still having a consistent ground game. Recruiting was top notch.

Florida Atlantic : 2017-2019 - Head Coach. Went 11-3 his first year in 2017. (Owls were 3-9 in 2016) Beat Akron in bowl game. Finished 2018 with 5-7 record. Finished 2019 with 11-3 record, beating SMU in bowl game.

Mississippi: 2020 - Current - Head Coach. Went 5-5 in 2020 beating Indiana in bowl game. Is currently sitting at 8-2 this season.

Overall head coaching record is 75 - 41, going 3-2 in bowl games. Did he underperform at Tennessee? I don't think so. Not enough data to judge him on just one year there. Did he underperform at USC? Possibly. They were on probation every year he was there. Perhaps USC was still too big of a job for him. Certainly lost some games he should have won with that talent. Have to say that he turned FAU around. Is having good success at Ole Miss so far.

Based on his improved success from USC to now, I would jump at chance to get this guy.

Thanks for posting this. I totally agree. I think he’s a great offensive mind, that can recruit what we need. Dude has an edge too. If he can bring a talented DC, we will be in as good of a spot as we’ve been since the early 2000’s

No problem. I have seen a ton of Lane Kiffin threads the last several months. I just wanted to post his actual records. There are some myths surrounding his time at Tennessee and USC. I don't know if we will ever know the truth, but those teams were not elite when he took them over. He also didn't leave them in any worse shape than we he took over. Tennessee fans might not agree with me, but they are idiots if they still want to blame him for their lack of success since his untimely departure. His time at USC is still a head scratcher to me. I think he has matured a lot since he joined Bama and it shows on the field. I think its really starting to come together for him now.

You can see who wears panties in this thread. He’s arrogant. He left Tennessee high and dry. He got pelted with golf balls. On and on. So fvckin what! He wins football games, loves SoFL and wants the job.
He failed at USC, he had an inexplicably bad season at FAU and he's only just got things rolling at Ole Miss with a 1st round NFL QB.

He's not the slam-dunk hire people think he is. Personally I don't think he's the guy to re-build the culture and football infrastructure here. A lot of you just love him because his offences score a lot of points and he's a douche.

Also I wear boxer-briefs, thanks for asking.

so we need a guy who was fired at his other P5 jobs and just fell into a situation where the QB is probably a first round pick this year? Have you all learned nothing?
Don’t worry. These are the same people that want MiKe LeAcH as a backup option. Kiffin has done well this year, but his coaching career has been a dumpster fire. We’d need to see more to take a chance on him.

Ole Mississippi has better facilities more money better fans than miami. All we got is memories. Why leave Ole miss ?

At this point any coach is taking a chance on Miami. We're not a good program at this point.

I just cannot trust Kiffin. That garbage he pulled at Tennessee was just terrible. I am afraid he will do something like that to us.

Same thing they got fooled with Manny with....RJ Mac and G3 made his defenses look really good. He was animated and had the chain and road it to fool the eyes of the admin (which isn't hard to do). Has a good QB and is doing dirt....don't know how Ole Miss is recruiting under him but I'm sure it's basic af types. And that won't get it don't here. If he was coming as O Cord I would be super ok with that but to lead young men? Nah no thanks.

Kiffin is an arrogant SOB that ultimately wants to get back to the NFL to win a super bowl and become one of the greatest ever. Extremely narcissistic.

Miami is a good next step in the journey. Coach here for 4 or 5 years like jj and hit the nfl leaving our cubbords stocked.

He is exactly what we need.

Miami isn't a destination job.

Get him a blank check! Lets roll.

So to recap:

Mario + an innovative OC and great DC

Lane + a great DC

Conclusion: Mario by a Miami mile in traffic..
