Lane Kiffin

The thing that scares me about Lane is that he’s got a very flashy offense but his defense hasn’t been great. I just did a quick search and Miss is 109 in total defense this year. Am I crazy to be concerned about that?

I’m of this belief. If you take the orange and green glasses off you start to realize the current state of our program is abysmal. Miami needs a huge rework. Blah blah blah resources blah blah blah we’re still a top program blah blah blah TVD.

Our recruiting class is a mess. Our AD is on the hot seat and will either be replaced or they’ll hire a college football GM (wtf is that?) or give him one more coach to prove himself. The second things go downhill he will be canned and a new AD would come in and scrutinize everything. Our top young talent will likely be going elsewhere. Coaches will second guess coming here because of our last 15 years. It’s an uphill battle that will RUIN your reputation if you fail.

There are some very smart and well connected people on this board that say we have the resources and someone like Lane will come. I just don’t see it. The guy had to resurrect himself after Oakland, UT, and USC. It’s been a long road and now he’s finally building up a strong program in the SEC. And we expect him to come here to fix this **** show because he’s got a house in Boca? Y’all high af.

You can see who wears panties in this thread. He’s arrogant. He left Tennessee high and dry. He got pelted with golf balls. On and on. So fvckin what! He wins football games, loves SoFL and wants the job.

Let's not kid ourselves...Mario, without question is the correct pick there is....Great family man, Great husband, no baggage whatsoever, Loves UM....and knows how to recruit...especially in S Fl....As long as he is coupled with a solid DC...and a more innovative OC....I'm perfectly fine with him...I realize he has some shortcomings in some people's eyes, but he learnt plenty from Saban and especially Butch...It wouldn't surprise me at all if he built a Monster at UM...he has the capabilities...only question is the staff around him.
 
There’s a few coaches at the top of everyone’s list. Mario and Luke would be most everyone’s one or two. I’d personally like Herman for a few reasons. He’s been heralded as a great X’s and O’s Guy. We haven’t had one of those since Dennis honestly. He also has a reputation as an elite recruiter and motivator. Lastly, he’s a winner. He wasn’t a “Texas guy” and that was his failing. I think he knows what is needed to play big boy football. Again, we haven’t had one of those guys since dare I say Randy. He’s my number three or attainable number one

I think Herman is the most realistic option.

I don’t think we have a chance with Mario or Lane, my number 1 option is Freeze but I already know that those bums at UM won’t even entertain that idea.

He’s most everyone’s number one. I think the odds of him coming here are lessening by the day. The administration dragged its feet on firing Manny and killed whatever early momentum we might have garnered hitting this topic five weeks ago. He’s not stupid and coming here now, with the season he’s having at Oregon, would be foolish. I hope I’m terribly wrong. What would it take to make it right? Probably a deal like Texas A&M gave Jimbo. 🤔

I don't disagree with you. My only question is, has he learned enough and connected with enough people to pick the right DC and OC down here?

I agree 100%, I just don’t think he would leave a playoff team to come back at UM.

I hope I’m wrong though.

I think so....he's always been close to Butch...constantly keeps in contact...He'll pick his mind in ref to staff...

Mario is the actually the one coach I’m least worried about when comes to building a good staff. I just don’t believe in Miami to actually do the right things to get him here.
