There’s an old saying that goes “Don’t pee before your water comes.” In other words, don’t jump off the cliff at least until Mario hires a new OC.
Totally understand where you are coming from.

But.... the same was said about shannon, golden, and diaz.

Like ive said 100 times. I truly hope mario is successful at miami. We all do. Or all should.

The fan base has been tainted by the “homeboy” hire including myself. Golden/No D, Richt/Baby Richt and Manny/The whole defense of staff. It to similar to the previous failed stuffs.

It has been said that Miami has the money, so why not try to hire the best out there? I don’t think it’s wrong that the fans want that.

I don’t know if Arroyo is good or not but to wait this long just to hire him(I know there are other factors playing into long wait of Gattis being release) would be disappointing.
This. That hire would indicate to me nothing has really changed other than we pay people more money.

Mario Cristobal has been a HC for 12 years. Has he ever had ONE elite offense?

If he hasn’t (and I don’t think he has), that’s damning. He should do some serious self-reflection about his philosophy/approach to hiring OCs.
The best any offense hes had is 16th. Thats while being in a conference that plays no defense.

Compare that to tiny ole wake forest that was 4th the season before last.

I said this last year, but I think the most damning thing is he doesn’t necessarily want an elite offense and/or won’t do the things necessary to have one. He wants to be able to beat you at the los and run the ball at will. He rarely has great skill position production other than RB, and it’s a decade plus sample size

We need a slow plodding offense to win.

You lose a ton of credibility in the very first sentence/paragraph when you call the Pac the weakest defense conference in P5. Have you never watched the Big12?

Big 12 defenses sucked in 2017, which is the exact time frame I was referencing. No question. But funny enough, PAC-12 defenses were even worse.

PAC-12 total defenses ranked in the 100s in 2017: 4
Big 12 total defenses ranked in the 100s in 2017: 3

PAC-12 total defenses ranked in the top 30 in 2017: 1
Big 12 total defenses ranked in the top 30 in 2017: 3

Ultimately you’re comparing two bowls of s*** when arguing Big 12 vs. PAC-12 defenses from 2017, but your comment about how I “lose a ton of credibility” is hilarious considering I’m statistically proven right that the PAC-12 defenses were somehow worse.

FACTS! THE PAC WAS HOT GARBAGE WHILE MARIO AND ARROYO WERE THERE.

Arroyo sucks.

Oregon’s explosive play passing ranking was absolute **** under him.

Average depth of throw was absolute **** under him.

Somehow they had one of the best QBs in the country, and it’s actually the running game that bailed out the offense.

Lmao. You called a top 5 offense vanilla.

WOW!!!!!!!

No - I'm saying that Todd Monken and Georgia's offensive style have been called 'vanilla' by a lot of people. And that's not meant to be an insult to their offense - just a response to your post.

Yes, the Georgia offense is phenomenal at what it does - take what the defense gives them and score points. But at least be intellectually honest - it is not exceptionally creative and it is not regarded as 'innovative'.

Shoe on the other foot: would you be happy if we named Todd Monken as our OC? And since, he's obviously not coming here, who are your 'realistic' choices for OC?

A lot of people that don't watch football?

Preaching to the choir, but dominating the other team is being able to score at will and knock their ****s in the dirt…

I trust Mario will build the line to do it, I just don’t trust he has the modern mindset to get it done on game day…

And I want him to adapt because it’ll be ******* fantastic to kick *** again.

16 is certainly above average and would be the best offense we've had in almost 20 years, but I think Cristobal should have squeezed a bit more out of the talent on his roster in 2019. He had a QB who has turned out to be one of the best young QBs in the NFL and one of the best OLs in college football. The Ducks managed 35.4 ppg that year. Helfrichs 4-8 team in 2016 scored 35.4 ppg. Taggarts 7-6 team scored 36 ppg in 2017. Cristobals offense never scored more ppg than his predecessors. And in 2020, UM scored almost than 3 ppg than the Ducks even though we didn't have much of a roster. And then same in 2021, UM again scored almost 3 ppg more than the Ducks.

The commentary during the title game was about how creative and aggressive Georgia’s offense was…

Georgia doesnt wait till there is 2 seconds left before they snap the ball. You are correct that they arent Tennessee or some modern innovative offense but they are not vanilla like mario and arroyos offenses are.

Realistically.

I would say riley but clemson got him

Fair enough. I think you and I both can agree that Gattis sits somewhere below the bottom of the barrel. And I would be thrilled with all your choices (haven't watched any Sowder so can't comment there).

This. I would almost rather keep Gattis than replace him with Arroyo. At least with Gattis we know we’d only be stuck with him for one more season. With Arroyo we would probably see modest improvement (because it would be almost impossible to be worse than Gattis) which means we would be stuck with his middling plodding pistol bull**** for the foreseeable future.

Yost's Offense at Utah St averaged 51pts a game in 2018...
