Can I just say something? As, you know, an actual MANAGEMENT major at UM?

This isn't always about MARIO, per se. You also have an AD (who got his MBA at Miami too) and other people in the administration who discuss the timing and circumstances of personnel moves.

Sadly, you have a contingent of Mope Squad porsters on this board who "learned" everything they know about managerial techniques and personnel decisions by watching The Godfather. Everything is binary. Everything is black-and-white. Either you love an employee and want them forever, or you hate them and want to punish them by publcily firing them. There is no in-between. There are no considerations. Every "hiring" and "firing" decision must follow a strict (and short) timeline.

But...yeah...that's not how things work in the real world. And it's certainly not how things work within the UM culture (and I do not deny that we had a rift in that culture under Beta Blake and in the aftermath of his firing).

Also, people need to look around at the world and see how massive corporations operate. As a recent example, take Disney. For as much as employees disliked Bob Chapek, Disney would have parted ways with him very graciously and ceremoniously. But when Disney found out that Chapek had been misstating certain financial aspects of the business (particularly with Disney+), they ACCELERATED the transition and stripped his name from every building. What that means is that an EXTREME circumstance or example does not disprove the culture, if anything, it can reinforce how the culture operates 99.9% of the time.

It's not purely "MARIO" who is letting these coaches find new jobs, and it's not limited to coaches either. People have talked about how the PLAYERS are being assisted with finding landing spots at other schools. And, yes, as a UM alum, these are some of the same players that I watched LITERALLY QUIT during the F$U game. Some of these are the SAME players that have said negative things about UM during recruiting. At least one player was (on this board) suspected of faking an injury. BUT STILL. Miami is finding landing spots for the guys who can't cut it.

And, sure, maybe one can claim it is in Miami's best interest. We want that high APR, we want everyone to graduate.

So with the coaches, this is NOT about "severance pay". No assistant had a contract longer than 2 years. We are already in Year 2, this is no longer "buyout" territory, it's just "pay the remainder of the contract". This is about everyone moving on with life with positive things to say and no lingering hatred. This is the Miami culture. We aren't motherfvcking Auburn. Good lord, every time you hear about "tracking the tail numbers of private jets", you think about Auburn and their not-so-sneaky pursuit of shiny new coaches while their current coaches are still under contract.

It's just time to back off of Mario. He's not doing ANYTHING with hiring/firing that does not have the complete support of Dan Radakovich. You don't like how Miami rolls, find another program to root for.

Respect. And integrity. The WAY that a 5-7 team can manage to land a Top 5 recruiting class is because we show respect and integrity in our dealings. With both players and coaches. Other schools can slap a smile on and tell a bunch of lies, but Miami is pretty much "as advertised".

And just because I am EXPLAINING this doesn't mean I am "making excuses" or any such nonsense. On a purely personal level, would I like to see Gattis marched out to The Rock and forced to put his head in a guillotine? Sure. But that's not how Miami is going to deal with this. I'd love to see things resolved quickly. But I'd prefer to see things resolved correctly and consistently.
Say whatever you want the man was given the most amount of resources any coach here has ever had and he produced arguably the worst season in the last 20+ years of Miami football.

The abomination of this season lies squarely on his shoulders. No one expected a NC but an 8-4/9-3 season was achievable. He took all the resources given to him and managed to produce a team that regressed.

And that is why you’re not going to see blind faith in his decision making. Mario is getting his shot to rectify the situation but stop castigating ppl for voicing their frustration and lack of confidence in Mario. After this season everyone has a right to doubt Mario’s ability to right this ship.

That’s one of my biggest fears. Even if he fires Gattis he’ll hire some lackey the likes of coley/Ponce/arroyo because they’ll run the system he wants to run (some variation of the crap we ran this year)

I fear that Mario will refuse to step out of his comfort zone and hire a Garrett Riley or a Warren Ruggiero because those offenses are “too gimmicky” for him. While we continue to put up abysmal numbers all in the name of “doing it the right way”.
Just playing devil's advocate here... The top two teams in the country right now run the style of offense that Mario wants to run. So is it really that bad?

Wrong.

Mario is absolutely considering "gimmicky", at least as far as how you define it.

Won't know the hire until he is hired, but no "system" has been ruled out. Except, maybe, the Wing-T.

It is when you consider that we don’t have the personnel to run this system. When you have a bunch of 5 stars go ahead and run it, until then run a system that gives us the opportunity to win games.

Another thing that needs to be understood is that at some point Mario will need to win some games to continue to recruit at a high level. You can’t continue with these results and expect top 5-10 classes in years 2-4.

If he hires someone that runs a “gimmicky” offense that has shown success I will absolutely be thrilled.

Given his history though I have more confidence that he’ll hire a coley/arroyo type or elevate ponce. That is if he fires Gattis, I’m still not convinced that will be the case.

Look, I'm not going to belabor the obvious dopiness of your post.

First, "resources" is not a guarantee, and it's not immediate. Look at the "resources" Jimbo has been given at aTm (over MULTIPLE years) and then let's discuss if we should even be whining (yet).

Second, nobody is taking the responsbility off of Mario's shoulders for the past season. An honest discussion of "why", and of the "reasons" for failure, is NOT "making an excuse" for the failure.

Finally, nobody is asking for "blind faith in his decision making". If you want to be a gaping pvss about everything, and run around saying things that aren't true to defend your negative viewpoint, nobody has stripped you of that Constitutional right. But this is where "tough talk" frauds such as yourself fundamentally fail. You feel like you can bloviate your negativity 24-7-365, but the minute that anyone challenges your comments, you cry like a little ***** about how you are being "castigated for voicing your frustration".

You are the problem. You and your Mope Squad. Because there are people here who can observe what happened this past year, and then they can observe particular steps that are being taken to address problems. Nobody is GUARANTEEING that those steps will absolutely and irrevocably fix the problems. But people CAN see the responses that are being taken to NOT repeat the same mistakes. The process of "waiting to see whether the responses work" is NOT "making an excuse" or "defending a coach" or "blind faith". It's just NORMAL human response to a change in circumstances.

As for whining and ****ing and moaning all-day every-day in every thread (and then crying when people rebut your garbage)? That's for you to decide when and where you are going to start acting like a man.

I really don't give a ****e about your confidence. Nor does Mario.

1. You really want to compare Mario to Jimbo? Jimbo has been an absolute failure at A&M. If Mario has the same record Jimbo has by year 5 here at Miami he will have been a failure. You're making my point for me - coaches who are given resources and they manage to squander it - I'm hopeful that Mario will not be the same but again after his first year there is a very real reason for the fan base to doubt him

2. My "stop castigating ppl" comment was aimed at you asking ppl to get off of Mario's back about the timing of the OC hiring/firing. After the season he had everyone has every right to question Mario's and this administation's decision making ability. You can take a shot at me all you want - just stop bullying other ppl into not voicing their legitimate concerns. Mario is not a Nick Saban or Dabo type of coach that have earned the right to not be criticized

3. Here are the facts - this season was an abomination. You say that steps are being taken - Great - lets see them or better yet announce them! Until then stop complaining when ppl call out what has been a failure so far. Other teams are making the necessary changes to improve their teams while we seemingly are twiddling our thumbs. If/when he makes changes then we can all congregate about the outlook of our program. Until then stop pretending that its a sin to criticize sir holy Mario.

I really don't give a ****e about your confidence. Nor does Mario.
Neither should you or should Mario. But if the fanbase confidence is waning and ticket sales crater (like they already did end this year) it will absolutely be something that the University needs to worry about. Remember one of the assumptions for making this investment into the program was that ticket sales would boom.

Three bullet points of cvntiness. Impressive.

"Bullying". Right there, I had to give you a laughing emoji...

Just the fact that you talked about "ticket sales cratering"...proof positive that you are just making up false statements.

Ticket sales didn't "crater", they were up substantially. Now, if you had bothered to talk about something like "actual attendance", then maybe you'd have a point.

Season ticket sales were higher than in past years, and I'm not just talking about COVID years. That's a fact.

We had a sellout (SELLOUT!) for our second-to-last home game of the year. And I realize it was also the Homecoming game. But still. And Pitt was a Thanksgiving weekend home game. We haven't done well in those games for 35 years (want me to tell you about the East Carolina game on Thanksgiving weekend 1986, the one where an undefeated #1 team in the country played before 30,000 fans?).

Unlike you, I was at nearly every game this year, including aTm, GaTech, and Clemson. So don't talk to me about attendance. The aTm game was their SECOND BIGGEST ATTENDANCE number all-time. And, yes, some of that was Miami fans.

Had a pretty impressive turnout at GaTech. Clemson is a different story, for multiple reasons.

Beta Blake is to blame for a home OOC schedule that features Bethune-Cookman, Southern Miss, and MTSU. That pile of ***** was 3 of our 7 home games.

So, yeah, before you go making up false facts, you should consider the fact that you are EASY to debunk.
