I would hope Gattis was already told to actively start looking for a new Job and that he would be let go by a certain date. He would still be obligated to perform his current duties like recruiting, and that‘s probably why you see he is accompanying Mario on a few visits. Not sure if It’s in Mario’s DNA to start firing coaches or to push them out the door, but I’m guessing this is his style.
We are going to fire you but we still need you to recruit. That is completely nonsensical.

1st - He is still under contract and everyone is out recruiting, that’s part of his job. Could mean this could go for awhile, including past ESD.
2nd - His visits are with Mario so he is under a controlled environment .

Lmao at Frank Ponce being the reason for our QBs regression

I would also laugh at "regression".

TVD - did he struggle with the new system in his first couple of games with Gattis? DId he struggle with the systen in his first couple of games with Lashlee? Was he looking better prior to his injury, and did he look pretty good in his one drive at the end of the year, prior to the OL letting him down yet again?

Garcia - did he "regress"? Or was he just doing the things that people with FULL access to practices and scrimmages have seen him do for months?

Jacurri - did he "regress"? Or did he play BETTER than we expected, particularly when you had the "15 minutes of practice observation" guys like Gary Ferman calling for him to be moved to another position?

Did we get the OFFENSIVE RESULTS that we wanted? **** no. But did our QBs "regress" under Ponce? Seems like they didn't.

Honestly man if there’s one word (well there’s many I guess) that I would ban from this board it would be “regression”

That and “generational” but let’s not even go there haha

People throw these words around and have no concept of what they actually mean

It’s a gross over simplification of a much deeper topic and you nailed it exactly how I feel. Someone will read your post and then throw some stats and go “WE GOT WURSE SEE ITZ REGRESSHUN” and that **** is like nails on a chalkboard

Interesting approach. But as long as he’s gone then it doesn’t really matter for us fans. Seems like Mario is trying to do him a solid.

Can I just say something? As, you know, an actual MANAGEMENT major at UM?

This isn't always about MARIO, per se. You also have an AD (who got his MBA at Miami too) and other people in the administration who discuss the timing and circumstances of personnel moves.

Sadly, you have a contingent of Mope Squad porsters on this board who "learned" everything they know about managerial techniques and personnel decisions by watching The Godfather. Everything is binary. Everything is black-and-white. Either you love an employee and want them forever, or you hate them and want to punish them by publcily firing them. There is no in-between. There are no considerations. Every "hiring" and "firing" decision must follow a strict (and short) timeline.

But...yeah...that's not how things work in the real world. And it's certainly not how things work within the UM culture (and I do not deny that we had a rift in that culture under Beta Blake and in the aftermath of his firing).

Also, people need to look around at the world and see how massive corporations operate. As a recent example, take Disney. For as much as employees disliked Bob Chapek, Disney would have parted ways with him very graciously and ceremoniously. But when Disney found out that Chapek had been misstating certain financial aspects of the business (particularly with Disney+), they ACCELERATED the transition and stripped his name from every building. What that means is that an EXTREME circumstance or example does not disprove the culture, if anything, it can reinforce how the culture operates 99.9% of the time.

It's not purely "MARIO" who is letting these coaches find new jobs, and it's not limited to coaches either. People have talked about how the PLAYERS are being assisted with finding landing spots at other schools. And, yes, as a UM alum, these are some of the same players that I watched LITERALLY QUIT during the F$U game. Some of these are the SAME players that have said negative things about UM during recruiting. At least one player was (on this board) suspected of faking an injury. BUT STILL. Miami is finding landing spots for the guys who can't cut it.

And, sure, maybe one can claim it is in Miami's best interest. We want that high APR, we want everyone to graduate.

So with the coaches, this is NOT about "severance pay". No assistant had a contract longer than 2 years. We are already in Year 2, this is no longer "buyout" territory, it's just "pay the remainder of the contract". This is about everyone moving on with life with positive things to say and no lingering hatred. This is the Miami culture. We aren't motherfvcking Auburn. Good lord, every time you hear about "tracking the tail numbers of private jets", you think about Auburn and their not-so-sneaky pursuit of shiny new coaches while their current coaches are still under contract.

It's just time to back off of Mario. He's not doing ANYTHING with hiring/firing that does not have the complete support of Dan Radakovich. You don't like how Miami rolls, find another program to root for.

Respect. And integrity. The WAY that a 5-7 team can manage to land a Top 5 recruiting class is because we show respect and integrity in our dealings. With both players and coaches. Other schools can slap a smile on and tell a bunch of lies, but Miami is pretty much "as advertised".

And just because I am EXPLAINING this doesn't mean I am "making excuses" or any such nonsense. On a purely personal level, would I like to see Gattis marched out to The Rock and forced to put his head in a guillotine? Sure. But that's not how Miami is going to deal with this. I'd love to see things resolved quickly. But I'd prefer to see things resolved correctly and consistently.

"Made some bad hires" is an understatement if Ive ever seen one. We completely ruined one of the best Qbs in the country with his hire. Cant rely on recruiting alone. Poorly coached team is going to always find a way to loose. Hows texas A&M lifeblood doing? Took too long to make the hire last year, and is doing the same this year. Analyst system? Support staff? Beat ******* middle Tennessee. Monster recruiter. Absolutely I will give him that. Doesnt take away from the fact that hes been extremely underwhelming in other areas.

Come on.

Stop being an extremist.

How did Gattis "ruin" TVD? Did Gattis ***** up TVD's first few games, absolutely. Was TVD doing better prior to the injury, and in the Pitt game pre-injury? Yes. Was the OL terrible, and the primary factor that led to TVD's injury? Yes.

But TVD is not "ruined". He had a lost year, but he's coming back next year, and assuming full injury-recovery, he is perfectly capable of being as good (or better) as he has ever been.

Other than your expert analysis of TVD's ruination, you are completely uninformed of, and clueless about, what is going on inside of Hecht. It is positively transformational. The dividend payments might not be in your wallet in the first 12 months, but they are coming.

For what reason would saban fire anyone? His program is basically plug and play. Who has failed at Alabama? He wasn’t buddies with lane but there wasn’t a performance reason to fire lane, he was obviously very good there. he relieved him of his duties before the Nc game though when he got the fau job and let sark call plays

You are so dopey. Plenty of coaches have left Alabama for a variety of reasons, certainly way more than just "Lane Kiffin". The fact that YOU don't know about all of those people and all of those reasons is PROOF that Saban's approach has worked for him. He certainly GIVES OFF THE IMPRESSION that everything has worked just fine at Alabama for 15 years and everyone leaves of their own accord for a promotion or bigger job.

Hilarious.

Never understood that.

Dorito brought Golden down hard.

Richt's son brought him down. Same with Bobby Bowden's son - destroyed everything Bobby built up.

Loyalty is a virtue.

But Stubborn Stupidity is not.

Not to defend, just to discuss...D'Onofrio and Jon Richt were multi-year problems.

I think we will see "the difference" in situations shortly.

With all the comments of the roster being the problem from him, why aren’t we at more than 12 transfers at this time? TVD and Jake Garcia back, he had to have pushed really hard to get them both to come back. A lot of what Mario says doesn’t match up.

In todays college football it’s not so tough to almost completely turn over a roster in 2 off seasons at this rate he will have turned over only 60-70% of that roster and still be using this rebuild takes time as an excuse with Ponce and Gattis still on staff next year.

50% false.

You guys do realize that if Gattis gets hired by Iowa or anyone else, that means that school has to buy out his contract. Relax.

Nooooot...exactly...

There are ways you could structure the hiring (i.e., give him a title of Assistant Head Coach) that represent "a different job description" sufficient to avoid a buyout requirement.

Annnnnd, if we were being completely honest, I'm not sure Miami would insist on a buyout. Whether we spin it as "gracious" or whatever, you don't throw a million dollar penalty at someone who is doing you a favor.
