Our roster is not good enough to win 9-10 games right now. What makes you think that? A bunch of freshmen that will be highly inconsistent over the season, and some of the highly coveted ones might flame out? This roster does not look like a Top 25 team just yet. And as opposed to talent acquisition, coaches can be poached anytime. I have watched this team since 1986. Good sample size to know when we are good and ready.

The roster itself is 2 more classes away from being a Top 5 roster, IF most signees work out. Usually there is a 10-20% turnover rate for each class. Just because you land a 4 or 5 star HS player, does not guarantee they will play like a 4/5 star player in college. Too many names to list.

Mario knows what he is doing. And he has a lot of experienced people around like Highsmith. Let's not get carried away on our "I know better than them" attitude that CIS can get a boner on from time to time. We dont know ****.
Everybody in the college football world disagreed with you last August, including the large majority of us on this board.

We play in the ACC. Every team we play against has recruited "SIGNIFICANTLY" worse than we have the past 2 decades except for FSU, Clemson, and UNC lately.

I refuse to let Mario and the woeful performance of year 1 dilute expectations and reality. He said we had the best QB in the country and then destroyed him with a terrible scheme and coaching. His gameday coaching was horrendous. He chose a terrible staff with no chemistry and poor leadership.

There's a reason everybody is giving him an F for year 1. Because of how badly he underachieved.

Just because Mario put a 5-win team on the field doesn't mean we have 5-win talent on the roster.

Tierney would be an intriguing hire. Has worked under some good offensive minds.
Agreed, and tbh the timeline would make sense considering he’s still coaching. It’s always a telling sign when a coordinator (Daboll) gets a promotion and brings someone from his previous job with him via promotion.

The more I look over his resume the more Im impressed.
Last decade he’s worked under/with the following coaches.

- Chip Kelly
- Pat Shurmur
- Lane Kiffin
- Steve Sarkisian
- Weis Jr
- Brian Dabboll
- Ken Dorsey

I think Briles is better suited at TCU, he’d have more offensive success and won’t have Pittman breathing down his neck in terms of implementing certain schematic packages. Pittman is like Mario and loves to run the ball. Dykes provides a bit more creativity in the passing game, and gun to head I would imagine that’s more tantalizing to coach under. Plus he just got Riley a gig at Clemson with a fat salary.

Also the perfect time to leave Arky because their QB room is bleh.
Solid reasoning. Good answer. If the money is close I could see it… Briles is paid well at Arky

Results speak for themselves. It’s hard to put myself into a 20 year olds mind but it seems contradictory to me that you’re telling me there’s going to be a new exciting offense but the OC is still being evaluated 6-7 weeks after the season when we don’t even have 6 minutes of offensive highlights to sho

I said be able to process... meaning taking all the relevant data under consideration.

First, I would not expect the HC to give me (an uncommitted 18 yr recruit) info who he is firing or hiring.

He tells me changes are indeed coming.

Second, I see that my potential OC/ position coach is not even around. Hmmm...

Third, fair question to then ask what kind of offense are we talking about and how will I fit into that? The HC may then give me some examples of actual offensive systems he envisions and film review how my position will be utilized,

Then its do I trust my HC or not that these changes will take place?

Then I think do I commit to the HC and vision or wait on whoever coordinator is finally named and who may not even be coordinator by the time I graduate?

So I don't necessarily need to know who my coordinator is to make a decision when I have these other considerations on the table in front of me.

Other factors (not in any particular order) are depth chart, qb room, training facilities, commitment to improving the program, NIL etc.

Granted I get these are 18 year olds in an age of instant gratification and self absorption. These are not quality traits that should be driving coaching decisions however.

Don’t tell me you’ve come around now too, you’re one of the few left that were ready to die on the hill he wasn’t going anywhere.

Who will I butt heads with?
Lmao.... You spoke too soon. I was only giving my opinion on who I would want. Which would be ANY of those options. As of 11:30am, Jan. 16, I'm still screaming HE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Naw... One thing I'll give ppl here credit for is that they have always been consistent with not liking the way it's happening whether he stays or go.
Yup but of course ppl will be beating their chest like that wasn’t the case. Glad there are some here who will keep it a 100

if that’s his legitimate answer, I’ll repeat (as I’ve said all season on the being ‘tough’ while weaving in an offense that works with the players you have) that he can and should know that CEOs in all walks of life (including in the form of coaches) are able to do two (sometimes more) things at once. Are you saying he has to only choose one thing at a time? We’re no longer short on financial resources.

He can feasibly still be doing both. But the amount of attention he’s giving one or the other doesn’t mean they are the same all the time.

This. I‘d imagine he has a good idea or even a verbal agreement with somebody. I’ve only heard rumors and I’ve learned to just ignore that stuff and let it happen.
I'd be surprised if it's not NFL coach given Zo and his connections. That formula has worked well for Saban
