Ivins Update (Dare I Ask?)

This is a Miami problem. Not an Ivins problem. Y'all spending way too much time crying about the wrong thing.

A lot of journalists are scummy. It is what it is. But he posted something that blew traffic up for his site. That's his job. I'll bet 247 Miami had more hits Saturday than it had probably ever. If you don't want info getting out, don't tell the people who report on it.
Plugging in Crystal Balls is an aspect of Ivins Job. But it’s not the major aspect. He’s an expert analysis on Miami recruiting, He writes and details Miami recruiting. Crystal balls predictions are useful but at the end of the day that’s all it is archaic predictions. It would be a different if Ivins was making like an extra $100 for every correct CB prediction he makes. Then I can’t knock the hustle but if his job is to generate clicks & traffic to his page. He didn’t need to plug in the CB in the 11th hour and spoil everything. Had JM commit to us that Saturday. His page would still get an absurd amount of traffic. He could still write 2-3 articles and do his emergency through the smoke podcast as he always does. That’s what’s not getting through most people head. Ivins didn’t “need” to plug in that CB and inform Wiltfong. His actions Saturday just seemed grimy and a career move to please his boss. And that’s f-ed up.

If he truly wants to be a Cane, I don’t see how the lick or a call from Saban will change his mind.

Why are you so focused on whether he changes his mind or not? Why is this about you?

Why can't you have any empathy for the kid, who did not ask for Ivins/Wiltfong to ruin his announcement?

But he cares about the kids bro. That’s why he doesn’t normally drop last second cb’s, remember that excuse for him not knowing ****? But we’re all forgetting this.

I mean Bama was going to find out one way or the other. I think some ppl are making it more then it is. Bama would have found out when he went public and STILL called the kid. Again.....anyone who follows recruiting closely and follows more specifically miami twitter and the tea leaves assumed the diaz stuff was about Marshall. and honestly thats only cuz the kid tweeted out 08/1 then deleted it. I dont think Bama needed some crystal balls to flip to see the massive twitter storm that was going on with Miami ppl. Bama boards had also been talking about 08/01. but idk im not connected in any way, just my opinion. Even if it did...everyone was going nuts if the kid wanted a splash he could have tossed up the edit and everyone would have lost their minds and still been just as shocked.
exactly. a commitment now means nothing. bama would have kept on the kid until he signed.

And this is exactly my point. This is beyond comical. If he commits, the drama is NOWHERE NEAR over. That’s why this is all so ridiculous. Bama (and uf if you really wanna go there) have FOUR MONTHS to get in this kid’s ear, commitment or not. Verbal commitments are NON-BINDING!!

Commit so the drama is over, good lord. No offense at all bro, but are you a fan of this program? Do you follow recruiting? It’s literally ALL DRAMA right up to NSD in the vast, vast majority of cases.
I’m talking about this drama about ruining his day. We all know nothing is over until they sign but without visits this year is different

Of course he should. So make it. This is big boy time. You're a 5-star South Florida recruit who has Bama as a finalist. The spotlight is on you. Whether you like it or not, those are the facts. This is a multi-million dollar business, like it or not.

So again, I don't care about Ivins or Wiltfong in the least. I don't pay for their information, I don't care one iota about what they say or do. But unless JASON MARSHALL told one or both of them he was committing to Miami and to not put that information out to the public, then he has no reason to be ****ed at either of them. If you want to have your moment, take it. You're entitled to it. But if it's so important to you, don't tell anyone about it. And if you do, and it gets leaked to the media, then ***** at the people who leaked it, not the people doing their job in reporting it.

Go fvck yourself with your childish generalities.

"This is big boy time".

"The spotlight is on you."

"This is a multi-million dollar business, like it or not."

"He has no reason to be ****ed at either of them."

You are one of the biggest victim-blamers on this site.

Idiots can’t see the forest for the trees. They keep going back to the “ drama , spoiled kid , Miami problem “ bs rather than discussing the issue.

It's a major model and pillar of their business. Ever notice Rivals "FutureCast" ?? It's in direct response to the 247 Crystal Balls. So if you think they're trivial, or grimy, you might be right. I said in my original post on the subject that a lot of journalists are grimy. These dudes are almost as bad as lawyers in a lot of cases. But he literally wrote an article that said something like "New Crystal Ball pick...and it's a big one" where he detailed his change and why and all that BS. It blew up. But this is no different than what happens **** near every day. Journalists for 247 get intel, one way or another, and make picks that generate traffic and discussion. It's not unique to Jason Marshall. Often it happens at the 11th hour. But this isn't Ivins problem unless, again, HE WAS TOLD DIRECTLY NOT TO LEAK IT AND HE DID ANYWAY. I haven't heard that's the case. If it is, then he's a ****** journalist because he broke rule #1. If he wasn't told directly not to put it out, he did his job. And if Jason Marshall is so worried about his moment, which he has a right to be, then he has 4 months to make it. Bama is coming calling whether he did it Saturday or a month from now.

Then blame who leaked it. I don’t give a rats *** about Andrew Ivins. But he literally did his job. So unless someone came to him specifically on Saturday morning or earlier and said “Jason is committing to Miami but do not report on it”, he did nothing wrong. He was given info, he reported it to the people who pay him for it, and it generated a **** ton of traffic. Literally his exact job.

Did someone tell him not to leak it and he did anyway? If so, I’m on board with you. If not, maybe focus on plugging your leaks before you vilify dudes for doing what they’re paid to do. JMO.
i don't like it because they tried to beat his commitment with their balls. that is lame. if you didn't have the prediction face the music. i am trying to think of an analogy. its like not doing your homework and then copying a friends homework 5 minutes before class just to say you did it. they changed to look good after they looked like ****. that is lame.

So ConnIvings' job is to be wrong for a year and then stalk someone else's message board and change his opinion that he held for a year at the last second just to salvage his dopey crystal benwah ball rep? That's a pretty sad job if that's his job.

Jason has every right to be upset but if Miami is really where he wants to attend college your eventually going to have to make it known.

Jason Marshall is a victim LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. How soft are you, good lord. Check between your legs tonight, at least plug that gash up before you make a mess.

In on what? You have no ******* clue.

You say "clearly" as if you actually know what happened.

You have NO IDEA what Miami's coaches were tweeting about. Miami is still recruiting over a dozen kids, not just Jason Marshall. You have NO CLUE what the coaches know, or why they tweeted.

There was never one single tweet by any Miami coach that referenced Jason Marshall, and the ONLY tweet that Manny put out there was a crystal ball, followed by an explosion, after three 247 writers flipped their crystal balls.

So, tell us again...how "clearly" the "coaches" and the "kid" were "in on it together".

You literally post one time a year, and suddenly you have info and opinions?

This is what ive been saying over and over.... people are just speculating and assuming it was Marshall

Ivins is a reporter and did his job. If Marshall was gonna commit to "shock the world" but then decided to step back and re-evaluate things because it was spoiled.....then it wasn't a real commit in the first place. Just another HS athlete trying to get his attention-seeking moment on social media.

Now IDK what really happened on Marshall's end but if what people are saying is true, then that's my take. Bruh if you're gonna commit to a school then do it. If not, then you're just playing games.
he hasn’t stepped back and re-evaluated anything. He committed to Miami’s staff on Saturday and is now waiting for a good time to make the announcement. Some people need to learn patience. This era of wanting instant gratification makes some of y’all come off worse then crack heads.
