Ivan McCartney Update

He would not be getting "an extra year". The difference is without a waiver, he would have to sit 2013 (redshirt) and then play in 2014 as a Senior versus getting the waiver and playing 2013 as a Senior. He has played in too many games and too late in the season to have any season from 2010-2012 count as a redshirt. He has played 3 seasons by NCAA rules.

No waiver means that scholarship in 2013 is being tied up on a kid who can't produce, except on scout team, until 2014.

Incorrect. The waiver he's applying for would grant him 2 YEARS OF PLAYING ELIGIBILITY. I went back and checked with my sources and they assured me this is the case.

How? In 2010 he played in 4 games with all 4 being past the window to redshirt. In 2011, he played in all 13 games (including Orange Bowl). In 2012, he has played in 7 games.

I know. I'm with you. I said the same thing.

However, my sources assured me that McCartney is indeed applying for a waiver granting an extra year of eligibility, and has a realistic chance at this waiver.

I'm still doing my research to find out exactly which waiver he's applying for, and how this could possibly work, despite the aforementioned playing time statistics that you highlighted.

You know what...heck with ya'll.

Larry
gogeta
Killa Cam

We on the bandwagon and its already left the station.

Discussion over.

Just let it be known, that each of you MF'rs that say "pass" is noted and should Sticks gets that extra year...oh boy, you better hope he ain't productive.

Umm, OK bruh

You acting like our receivers aren't productive

You know what? You ******* talk too much.

YOU'RE ON THE LIST, BUDDY.

You got nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. Paper champion talking that talk.

What can IMac do for you? (serious question)

For real...

Who is our quarterback and what does he do?

His name is Stephen Morris, and ol boy is a chucker. Sticks can get down field.

Never thought we would have so many posters enamored with a 4th string Jr WR who couldn't cut it at WVU.

It's just not the time. We've got the horses right now (if Scott is in)

I'm with Larry here. If Sticks wind up a Cane and works hard, he'll be our most productive and threatening receiver. He's about the same size as Rashawn Scott but has better feet, suddenness, hands, quickness, etc. He was the #1 HS WR in Florida for a reason...dude is very skilled and would be perfect for our offense considering how frequently we try opportunity throws and hard play action deep balls. He's already proven himself considering the production he put up last year as the 3rd receiver behind 2 of the most productive receivers in the nation.

The downside is that he's underperformed overall as a Mountaineer and that speaks to his motivation and attitude. That stuff needs to be fixed for him to distinguish himself from Scott and others in the lineup.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't Morris have graduated by the time Sticks is eligible? Is he applying to play right away in 2013?

That is a massive "if". It goes against his track record completely.

I will say this though, if Golden has looked him in the eye and says it's ok, well I won't argue that. Plus Golden has a better grasp on how our scholarships are going to play out.

I dunno about all that. I like our group of wide receivers, but its an inconsistent unit.

I'm also not saying Sticks comes in and is our #1, but I think he can be productive here.

He's got to prove himself a in regards to working hard and being all-in (something he didn't do at WVU)...I think you got a guy that realizes he made a mistake in college choices and wants to correct it. Can't hate on that.

what evidence do you have that sticks would be our best receiver?

none

His name is Sticks.

Your move, padre.

Add me to your list, Larry. I'm on board. I want talent. This kid can play.

I saw him hanging out with Tracy Howard and Malcolm Lewis at the scrimmage that UM played this past offseason in Hialeah. Dude has great size. I've never seen Scott in person, but this guy is bigger than Hurns, Dorsett, Waters, and Lewis.
