Ivan McCartney Update

As a Soph he had 49 catches for 585 yards for 3 TDs

Dorsett and Scott are the only guys on the roster who have had a season like that and he did it as the third option. He hasnt gone all conference or anything, but thats a solid sophomore campaign. And it seems like he has been trying to get here forever. I am good with him coming here

Although put me in the camp that takes Stacey Coley and stands pat at WR

better than just about all of our wrs..

definately will take

Smh BASED ON WHAT? Nobody seems to answer that question. Our Wrs have produced in College he hasn't. Mind boggling **** right now.

I'm not necessarily gon' ride with him being better than everybody we have, but I'm not gonna act like the kid ain't talented either. Philip Dorsett, Rashawn Scott, and Allen Hurns, wouldn't even see the field at WVU. Tavon, Steadman and their third WR are better than everything we have.

BTW, Production would lend you to believe that Curtis Porter wouldn't have an impact when he returned.

Assumptions..

No we know Porter makes a difference on the Dline when he's actually on the field. Cuz we've seen enough to know he's one of the better Dline we got.

Being that ive wtached alot of our current wr's...including our best wr..Phil Dorsett since he was a 9th grader....and Malcolm Lewis...i can say the kid is better.

He's a great route runner and has LONG speed. Had a good soph year also......

But you can go on with it believing what u believe....

I was one of the Only ones a few years back screaming at the top of my lungs that STEDMAN BAILEY was better than wr's we were recruiting and had committed....ONLY other guy who heard me and shared my thoughts was LARRY.

If his grades are right...and his head on straight i'd take him..he has a good rapport with Ryan Williams wh might be one year starter for us

he had 50 catches as a soph...were going ga ga over our wrs this year who produced the same similar numbers

I would rather develop Dorsett (hands), Lewis(health), Waters(youth), Scott(eligibility), Hurns(separation), 3 other redshirts

then IMAC

pass

For all the Sticks fans,

Why couldn't he see the field this year? We all know Bailey and Austin are great but that offense has plenty of balls to go around. DJ Woods, their 3rd WR this year, caught 5 balls in 2011 and passed him. And why wouldn't he stay knowing Austin and Woods are Sr? Bailey may leave too.

I hope he is able to come to the U. I'm sure he understands he hasn't lived up to expectations but I highly doubt it is b/c of lack of talent.... Also i'm positive this staff will do a better job of developing him and he definitely can be a big addition to our young wide receiver corp.

MY DAWG STICKS!

Get this kid on board. He made a mistake by going to WVU. He was never really happy there.

You can go home again.

What legitimate reason would he have for getting this waiver?

A few kids that I have coached have applied for these. All of them cited having to be near home, due to their parent's having serious financial and/or health issues. Both of them were denied. I think Akeem Jolla was granted a waiver to New Mexico St. because his family had to relocate, due to hurricane katrina.

gogeta your stance fails mane

LMAO @ having a good rapport with a QB he hasn't played with in 4 years. bottom line is homey couldn't even ball with a QB like Geno and a wide open offense like that.

**** that ochocinco lite *** nijja

For the last time, its not worth the risk to give this guy a scholarship. He has already proven that he couldn't contribute in college, so why should we give him the benefit of the doubt? Its much less of a risk to get these high school studs who haven't flopped yet in college. I also don't buy that the kid was homesick and unhappy either since of all his Miramar boys like Geno and Bailey went up there with him.

I haven't watched him at all in college. His stats from his sophomore season are very solid though. I wonder what the deal was that caused him to go ghost this past season though.

If the coaches see a viable talent that they think can be starting caliber for us, there is absolutely no reason not to take him.

Think about this, if he can produce, not only is it a success due to that, but it is a recruiting pitch for prospects that are considering going away to school.
"Hey, you may remember Ivan McCartney, he was a top recruit WR coming out of Miramar and Miami was recruiting him hard, but he ended up going to WVU - things never clicked for him in the foreign environment so different from everything he knew, he had ups and downs, and finally decided he would be best off coming home. He ended up having more success with us at Miami then he did during his time at WVU." Then sell the home pride and understanding of the local players angle.

I will let Golden give the call, if he thinks he can help. Lets ride, if he thinks we are good with what we got , cool.

Too many fans get this stuff wrong. Right now we are talent deficient, we need all the talent we can get. We are not in the position to be turning down good players. Plus this could be a way to get goodwill in certain communities if they see we made a effort to help a kid when he was down.e

I'm sure he thanks you for your blessing on this matter.

Why does anyone think that developing our current crop and taking McCartney are two mutually exclusive paths?
