Ivan McCartney Update

better than just about all of our wrs..

definately will take

Someone needs to explain this to me. How is he better? He played in the one of the top offenses a WR could be in and caught 9 balls in 8 games and 59 in 3 years.

I mean, it's not like Tavon Austin and Steadman Bailey aren't better than every receiver we have.

TRRUUU. But they dont hear you tho

Its not that. Just me but I don't see him being an upgrade.

I would just rather see us clean up in a loaded 2014 class than take IMac. Just my opinion though.

For all the Sticks fans,

Why couldn't he see the field this year? We all know Bailey and Austin are great but that offense has plenty of balls to go around. DJ Woods, their 3rd WR this year, caught 5 balls in 2011 and passed him. And why wouldn't he stay knowing Austin and Woods are Sr? Bailey may leave too.

Sticks saw the field some, but he was a bit lackadasical at time, and got passed on the depth chart. He is better than D.J. Woods and the other receivers, but his performance in the spring and first week of fall camp put him behind, and the coaching staff wouldn't give him a chance to move back up the depth chart.

As for his low number of receptions, this has gone on his entire career. When he played in HS with Geno Smith, it was readily apparent that Geno would rather force balls to his best friend Stedman Bailey rather than read the field and hit other options, even a sometimes open-by-20-yards McCartney. For whatever reason, Geno just doesn't like throwing the ball to Ivan, and Sticks' numbers suffered greatly because of that.

So he followed him to college? No thanks, I'd pass

+1 Why would you follow a guy to college who doesnt like to throw you the ball in high school? Dummy, do not want.

He had to do extra work in the classroom to get into UM so he went to WVU.

No thanks.

Eh....if he can come and contribute I'll take him, but I'll probably never see him as a full Cane (and I would see a JUCO kid as a full Cane).

If he comes cool, if not, fine as well...

Just let it be known, that each of you MF'rs that say "pass" is noted and should Sticks gets that extra year...oh boy, you better hope he ain't productive.

Cameron when will Ivan get the results from his appeal back?

have coaches told him personally that they have a spot for him if indeed he is granted this extra year?

That last statement is patently false. McCartney had no academic issue going to any school coming out of HS.

I do not know the timeframe for this appeal.
My sources could not comment on the level of communication between McCartney and Miami. When pressed about the communication that had happened, they declined further comment.

Umm, OK bruh

You acting like our receivers aren't productive

For me It's Coley or bust...Coley is worth the risk, if the staff doesnt get him in, ride out with our current crop plus AJL.

Multiple sources tell me that Ivan McCartney is applying for a special waiver that will grant him an extra year of eligibility. This waiver would mean that McCartney would have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

This is the major sticking point in the pursuit of the former WVU and Miramar star.

If the waiver is approved, McCartney will 100% be a Cane and enroll for the summer session A with the incoming freshman.

If the waiver is not approved, there is 0% chance McCartney wears Orange and Green.

Let the games begin.

Do we want?

Pass. Too many good WRs around here. He had his chance.

This. I really don't understand the interest on our end, if there is any. He had his chance to come here and he chose elsewhere. Also, he was in the biggest pass happy offense in college football and he was the 4th WR as a Jr. Caught 9 balls in 8 games and then quit the team. Doesn't sound like a Golden guy to me.

Do NOT want

Lol funny how he was THE guy we wanted 3 years ago but now you all want to avoid him like the plague. Dude was a beast at Miramar and will easily crack this depth chart. **** I wouldn't sleep on him starting if Rashawn keeps ******* up.
