Ivan McCartney Update

I agree that Coley is a pipe dream man. I'm just waiting to see AJL hit the field though. If you look back, our coaches were pretty up front and honest (and dead accurate) about our WRs when they got here so I am looking forward to what McDonald can do with that kid. Looks like a beast.

Yeah I think AJL is going to be a beast too..... it's not going to be fair having him, Lewis, Waters, and Dorsett on the field at the same time.

But I don't see the foul in letting McCartney get a chance to step up if he is good enough, especially w/ all the injury issues Miami has had at the position this year. If lack of talent wasn't the issue at WVa, and the coaches are able to develop him, then his maturity could be valuable for this team after Hurns leaves.

He's definitely got talent and I think McDonald is about as good as it gets when you are talking WR coaches so it could be a great combo.

McCartneys comments back when he signed with WVU really were that of an immature kid so obviously he has grown up. I said it before but you can never have too many weapons especially when you see our WRs drop like flies.

I don't know where I stand with this kid, but if the staff feels he can contribute then..........

One thing lost in all of this is this is another example of how our talent has dropped and how delusional our fan base is in regards to our talent. Our receiving Corp is one the only bright sides we have had this year, so if a kid that couldnt cut it at WVU as an upperclassman can come here and be the best we have, then that is alarming.

We have an offensive coaching staff that develops talent and puts it into a position to succeed so our lower talent level isn't a huge problem as long as there is talent to speak of across the board, which I'd say there is on offense except for the TE group as a whole.

Jumping on the Sticks bandwagon, sorry Larry, don't care if there's no room.

TRUNK TIME!

LOL you "critics" are hilarious....

if the breaking news broke that Ivan McCartney was officially coming to the U, most of you all would be on his jock.

All this bs about Coley or bust lol gtfoh

There is a 90% chance Coley isn't going to be in this class and guess what life still goes on, if McCartney can get in what are you going to say "uh uh I'm going to close my eyes every time he's on the field" lol like i said hilarious.

you heard it here first. AJL will have a mre productive career than Coley.

So he's matured enough to not work hard in spring/fall, enough so that he became the 4th WR. Then when he doesn't see the field he quits. How is that growing up?

You know ur my boy Chris.....but Coley is about to go off on some D1 db's......AJL is the truth but I think Coley just has that nasty Andre Johnson streak.

Remember that its a 1-2 year investment, not a 4 year or so.

Meaning that if we get 3 years (or more) of scholarship reductions, we won't get full usage of that 'ship. It's an issue. Let him rob a bank and walk-on.

I will trade Sticks for a starting JUCO DT any day of the week. Give me the DT instead.

He had his chance..don't want any wvu castoffs. Guy was lazy as **** up there, want no part of that @ miami.

Miami doesn't take WVU transfers. Miami sends transfers to WVU. don't want. Lets use the ship on a guy who can be here for 4 years as we head into scholarship reductions.

JHall: I disagree that we "got the horses." Against good competition, this WR crew did not play well. I like our group overall but we don't have a #1 WR, IMO. Dorsett has had a great year, but he's small and isn't particularly elusive. I don't think Sticks becomes a #1, but this WR crew can be infused with talent, IMO.

Also, as to your point about using scholly on a RB ... let's think about who our OC is and what he likes to do, because Fisch isn't "power run" mentality OC, so why not cater to the offensive style that he is geared to run.

Ive been with this sentiment for a while. This WR is very solid but is missing a true #1. I dont think anybody on the current roster has NFL potential except for MAYBE Rayshawn Scott, but he has a long way to go. AJL looks like a #1 type of talent but you cannot expect a first year player to play that role. I see Sticks as a stop gap. He can come in, have a productive last year, while letting the younger guys develop and then jump to the NFL.

How is Sticks a #1?. Did he prove that by being the 4th WR at WVU as a JR?
