Issues with coach Mike Rumph

Yeah with the crop of 18 DBS you better believe we will be fighting off the likes of Bama, FSU, Ohio St, LSU, Clemson. Going to be harder to beat them for recruits than it is UF. Don't pencil in the 18 guys just yet.

This. A D1 position coaches role is to recruit first and foremost. Anyone with a pulse should be able to coach the technique/tackling/fundamentals. Dumph gets FAR too much credit for the success of the CB's this year (which undoubtedly was a result of a superior system that put them in a position to succeed).

the cbs he supposedly developed were.....BOTH SENIORS....he aint develop sh*t..im still watching his ***...yall could crown his ***...he **** sure cant recri,.an I knew that from we hired him
 
We just signed 3, 4-star CB's in Bandy, Dean & Dallas. I'm good with that and extremely happy with this class overall.

If you've watching football recruiting for awhile good recruiters generally are good recruiters from day 1, its a charisma/salesman thing you either have or you don't - Banda is essentially an inexperienced coach/recruiter for the most part and the difference is huge. The James Coley's of the world are beast recruiters from jump-street.

Richt needs to do something about how this staff closed - Rumph, Hartley, Richt Jr didn't pull their weight, Dugans and Brown are on warning (Brown has a history of generally being a great recruiter). People are pointing to October stating that was the game changer, it wasn't. Plenty of programs have had winning issues especially in a coaches bump year and kill it in recruiting (see what Jimbo did at FSU his first full year).

Excusing this year if you want Miami to be a ACC top contender each year (like FSU and Clemson are right now) isn't how you get there. Something has got to change, if it doesn't we'll be sitting here a year from now pointing to '19 as the solution as we half-closed 18....

Maryland got curb stomped all year long...McFarland to Maryland.
Georgia had a 8-5 record yet finished with a top 5 class.

Winning helps...yes, but so does having a staff that sells your school better than the other guy.

Well of course. If you aren't elite at the X's and O's game (which Richt OBVIOUSLY is not), you sure as **** better be elite at the recruiting game (early returns prove he and his staff ARE NOT). It's the chicken or the egg game.

The same people that say "we need the horses for Richt to implement his system" are out the other side of their mouth saying "We just need to win to get X player".

He's getting his *** handed to him out of both sides atm. Needs to get his **** together.

You're not wrong about Richt as a play caller, but the class as a whole is good, save for WcFarland's flaking. Don't overreact.

They added some serious horses.

colbert came in as a backup at Texas and now is looking to get drafted, elder had his best year at Miami this year and improved dramatically... corner play was night and day better. mopes gonna mope

No credit for Herbert.

Herbert was dropped by Michigan....and UF has no ol coach. **** he himself said it in his post signing day interview with Pete.

Also said when Richt sat down with Herbert and family he got em. Dude aint do sh*t ...believe me...hes a stone cold rookie to the recruiting game..and essentially a ga. we have ga's that have more experience imo ( Kareem Brown). Rumph reminds me of Randy...kind of the if oyur gonna come your gonna come recruiter.

I still cant get over the fact he promoted the commitment of a kid to our rival school that he knew wasnt coming. I dont care how close you are with the kid you dont do that.

This class coming he sis going to have to pull his weight... its loaded with s.fla dbs...Bandy cant be driving him around in the car holding his hand every where
 
In my opinion, this whole class is mediocre and average.

Richt recruited much better at Georgia, but that is because Georgia is a better program these days than Miami.

Obviously Rumph has some contact with the CB recruits but he's not their sole/primary recruiter. He definitely wasn't the only one recruiting Henderson and Edwards.

That's true Macho, however, you and I both know that your future position coach plays a HUGE roll in getting the kid to campus. They have to comfortable and confident in that aspect (probably more than any other factor).
