Issues with coach Mike Rumph

That's my coach and I'm rocking with rumph... he's still learning on the job in recruiting and we did all we could to try and get Henderson and Edwards and we're both coming as of last week but changed idk why but they did... some things you can't pin on coaches

Edwards and Henderson were never coming to UM, despite what they said. Coach Rumph got played by a couple of shysters. Hopefully, he'll learn from this and not allow a couple of kids to get over on him.

Henderson was, he even told uf coaches and Miami coaches that he was going to Miami just last week. Also was asking for miami commitment edit photos for Miami too

Rumph has to go.
The second he re-tweeted Maro Wilson's recruitment announcement, KNOWING Wilson was going to pick the Gators, he should have been put on some kind of informal "probation" period. A kind of "We're watching you" type thing. All he does is follow that up by losing out on everybody in South Florida.
Go get me somebody that can recruit and I'll take my chances with their coaching ability.

This. A D1 position coaches role is to recruit first and foremost. Anyone with a pulse should be able to coach the technique/tackling/fundamentals. Dumph gets FAR too much credit for the success of the CB's this year (which undoubtedly was a result of a superior system that put them in a position to succeed).

the cbs he supposedly developed were.....BOTH SENIORS....he aint develop sh*t..im still watching his ***...yall could crown his ***...he **** sure cant recri,.an I knew that from we hired him

C'mon man, he got to get some type of credit for Colbert... dude ain't even play CB since high school.

None. A 5th year senior. What the **** you think he taught him?. He didn't even bring him in that was Diaz and banda. Then colbert was a boundary corner. I'm not given dude credit for a 5th year sr. It was the scheme and fit...colbert played that role real well. Corn elder was a baller say 1 here..Rumph didn't do anything there
Malek young progressed each week... colbert even gave Mike rumph a TON of credit for developing him this year stop with that sh*t...
Corn elder has never played at the level he played this year. His game clearly was elevated. Redwine and Mike Jackson looked capable vs West Virginia too

I kept wondering why in the **** we hired him and not Ed Reed. I bet if Reed walks into a recruits house and shows him the ring...deal closed.

Rumph has a ring too....infact...Rumph got drafted 3 spots after Reed LMAO

Rumph has a super bowl ring?.....now I'm LMFAO

"Rumph got drafted 3 spots after Reed", thought it was obvious I was talking about College.

I knew he won a NC ring, they played together. Reed can show a recruit a sb ring as well, and he is a Hall of Famer, first ballot. Rumph couldn't touch him recruiting hs dbs...period. I don't think there is another db in the world who could say that he won a NC, SB and is a first ballot HOF. is there?

Colbert said out of his own mouth Rumph took his game to another level -_-

These guys have no clue who on staff is recruiting who. They still think coaches only recruit their position. The same people not wanting to give Rumph credit for Colbert were saying Colberts a bum who shouldn't be brought in last year. Last year CB was a huge area of concern but they were one of our most productive units. Corn went from getting no love in the draft after his junior year to pretty close to being an elite shut down corner last season. Rumph did his job! It's about time we had some coaches on staff. I grew sick of the coaches that would get guys like Tracey Howard and not do anything with them

I suggest you guys find another topic to scratch at because he is not going anywhere.

After years of NFL scouts saying our CBs had poor coaching, they showed some of the most dramatic improvement imaginable.

The pressure up front helped, but they are much more fundamentally sound, stouter in run support and incredibly more disciplined. Don't believe me? Watch footage of Corn against a back-shoulder fade or slant this season versus the last 2. Rumph's bosses are extremely happy.

One or two more seasons of this and we will have no problem getting DBs here, like we used to.

Is it a different MNC ring than the one Rumph has?

Trevon Grimes
Deangelo Gibbs
Tedarrell Slaton

Exactly. Always call out the bullshīt.

And I'm not making any comment on Rumph, because I feel the jury still out. Not exactly thrilled right now. But in any event, people just think they can post whatever they want without regards to actual facts..

What 2017 DBs were there at Heritage this year, Marco Wilson and Will Allen, Jr.? Choad is still butthurt over the way F A G did Quincy and we never had a shot with Marco, and Will Allen, Jr. is a great kid, but he is not a UM level CB. So we missed on a kid we had zero shot with.

There is no question he needs to recruit better, but screaming and yelling about him getting fired over it is insane. His on field performance was excellent, his recruiting was subpar. He missed on some prospects we could have used; he lost them to someone with a better and longer track record, or so they sold. He needs to do both well--coach and recruit. Let's see what year 2 brings. If he isn't pulling his weight in one or both, let's talk.

Really think Rumph made a mistake by taking it easy on Byrd after what he did last year. He should've thrown that shade Todd Hartley style.

I don't pay attention to which coaches recruit who so I'm not going to talk about that, but from a pure coaching standpoint, Rumph is one of the best on staff. It's night and day difference how much better the corners got this year, especially with what he had to work with as a unit. Colbert is an incredible athlete but couldn't cover anyone man to man when he first got here and probably improved over the season more than anyone else on the roster.

Don't you know it doesn't matter if coaches can actually coach?

all that matters is if they can recruit their old HS. Then when they get the top player from their old HS, it doesn't matter anymore and all that matters is that they missed out on 2 guys at their position. It doesn't matter that those 2 guys aren't as good as the 2 guys we did get at the position. And the 2 guys we did get, it didn't matter what Rumph did, because they were Canes no matter what!!

Such b*tches man

Rumph should think about coaching in the nfl where you only have to worry about teaching and others bring you the players. He definetely doesn't connect with the kids.

Would probably fit him better. Doesn't seem to have the "sales personality," and I don't think that can be developed easily.

Rumph is a perfect example of why we've told some of you MF's who want ex-players (a thousand times) that college coaching is a grind and it ain't for everybody. You guys always want to fill our staff with ex-players because "they must be able to coach, they played at an elite level". Yall don't understand that there's soooo many aspects to being a good college coach.

And recruiting is a HUGE part. Some coaches will tell you it's the most important skill to have. ****, you get a guy that can recruit his a$$ off and **** near anybody can coach the talent that you end up with. Coaching CB's is not rocket science. It's an easy position to coach. It's the exact spot you want an ace recruiter. Most of the technical **** is relayed down from the Defensive Coordinator anyway. He tells the position coaches how he wants things done. The coordinator coaches the position coaches, the position coaches coach the players. All this talk about what Rumph did for the CB unit this year is overblown bullsh!t. The change of scheme alone would've yielded better results than last year.

In college football you need recruiters. You need personable guys who can relate to the kids and light up a room when they walk in.

Rumph was recruiting bandy

Yall give him crap for no reason, CJ and brian changed their minds every day, CJ himself said his favorite coach was rumph
