Issues with coach Mike Rumph

In my opinion, this whole class is mediocre and average.

Richt recruited much better at Georgia, but that is because Georgia is a better program these days than Miami.

SMH

Would rather have Georgia's class.

Much better troll job here than in the class grade thread, Santa. You had a well-timed comment that struck a chord and got a few responses. It was measured and not so over the top as to be taken seriously. Kudos. You pulled a couple of goats off your bridge with this one.

Richt needs to do something about how this staff closed - Rumph, Hartley, Richt Jr didn't pull their weight, Dugans and Brown are on warning (Brown has a history of generally being a great recruiter).

Disagree on Durans being on warning, His was the only finish worth watching.

Dugans deserves credit for bringing in Thomas and staying with Harley, plus Richards last year.

Hartley was a disappointment, didn't live up to his hype. Richt JR is a waste of a valuable coaching spot but he did bring in Perry so that's something.

Rumph and Brown are the biggest wastes of space recruiting wise. Rumph proved he could extract production from a makeshift CB rotation. But what in God's name does Brown bring to this team? He doesn't call plays. He doesn't recruit. WTF does he do to earn his 600k??

Pretty sure it's like 750k hahaha could have gotten a great coach for that

That's my coach and I'm rocking with rumph... he's still learning on the job in recruiting and we did all we could to try and get Henderson and Edwards and we're both coming as of last week but changed idk why but they did... some things you can't pin on coaches

Bottom line business. It's his job to land recruits. I'm a corporate executive recruiter for a living. My director doesn't give a **** why I don't sign the CFO of on of our hospitals, he wants an offer or contract signed. It's on me to find, pursuade and keep a guy. Rumph has those same expectations.

I will add, though, the CFB coaching is two parts. If he can prove that he can develop the talent he does bring in, then I'm good with it. I thought he did well his first year so I'm not as down on him. Next year is make or break though. Too many studs to not clean up.

Yeah but that fake dbu sh*t got these south Florida recruits brain wash like they are the only ones putting dbs out. **** you can argue fsu dbs over the last 5 years or so have been better than uf imo

Rumph lost a longtime, seemingly rock solid commit in Tyler Byrd to Tennessee a year ago. Couldn't beat out Butch Jones AKA Al Golden 2.0. And now he's gone 0-for-4 in head-to-head battles for South Florida DBs to UF, despite having all the advantages in the world to pitch to recruits (depth chart, aggressive defense, improved on-field product).

What makes anyone think this is going to get better next year when we're vying for even better talent (Campbell/Jobe/Hall/Surtain) against dominant programs? Competing against Bama/Clemson/FSU/LSU is a whole different ballgame than going against Tennessee and Florida. Rumph & Banda don't stand a chance against those schools for DBs without UM ties (Frierson & Blades).

Can't wait to see the excuses some will come up with when Rumph fails to land Campbell

What advantages
* depth chart - all colleges (except Bama) have turnover and claim depth chart advantages
* aggressive defense - that the one thing that UFag can claim they have and they've had the plyers to prove it (under Muschamp)
* improved on filed product - it's only a "one-hit" aberration. At his other stops, how has Diaz followed up his first year once the rest of the league catches up with his scheme.

Not that I believe that crap, but that's how it's spun. Add to that the mercenary nature of South Florida recruits, a father's relationship with Shannon, and the negative recruiting from the Wilson's and the DB U nonsense, he had a lot of ground to make up.

It's like Money said in another thread, Rumph needs time to develop his own legacy of coaching up players, then he will have something to go to war with.

Dumbest **** in the world. You shouldn't be learning on the job at Miami. Especially at recruiting. Its crazy how many ******* excuses so caled fans make for rump. EL EM AY OH at learning on the job. Never heard of some **** like that with a high level division one football program coach.

Rumph has to go.
The second he re-tweeted Maro Wilson's recruitment announcement, KNOWING Wilson was going to pick the Gators, he should have been put on some kind of informal "probation" period. A kind of "We're watching you" type thing. All he does is follow that up by losing out on everybody in South Florida.
Go get me somebody that can recruit and I'll take my chances with their coaching ability.

This. A D1 position coaches role is to recruit first and foremost. Anyone with a pulse should be able to coach the technique/tackling/fundamentals. Dumph gets FAR too much credit for the success of the CB's this year (which undoubtedly was a result of a superior system that put them in a position to succeed).

the cbs he supposedly developed were.....BOTH SENIORS....he aint develop sh*t..im still watching his ***...yall could crown his ***...he **** sure cant recri,.an I knew that from we hired him

I kept wondering why in the **** we hired him and not Ed Reed. I bet if Reed walks into a recruits house and shows him the ring...deal closed.

Edwards and Henderson were never coming to UM, despite what they said. Coach Rumph got played by a couple of shysters. Hopefully, he'll learn from this and not allow a couple of kids to get over on him.

None. A 5th year senior. What the **** you think he taught him?. He didn't even bring him in that was Diaz and banda. Then colbert was a boundary corner. I'm not given dude credit for a 5th year sr. It was the scheme and fit...colbert played that role real well. Corn elder was a baller say 1 here..Rumph didn't do anything there

"Rumph got drafted 3 spots after Reed", thought it was obvious I was talking about College.
