Is the ACC finished?

That’s the most frustrating part for me in all this. SMU and Clemson, who were supposedly the cream of the crop in our conference, just got absolutely humiliated on national TV. We had the #1 offense and a Heisman caliber QB and still couldn’t even make it to the conference championship game. Truth be told, with the talent we have and the fact that our conference is full of a bunch of “mid” teams, we should be absolutely running through the ACC right now…especially with FSU being garbage as well. When you look at our schedule next year compared to this year, the fact that we had a historic offense, and that the majority of our offense will be gone, it just feels like we missed out on a huge opportunity this year. That’s why, even though we finished 10-2, this season feels like a failure to some of us. Just very, very frustrating and I’ll leave it at that.
The frustration is understood. The defense should have been better. Good enough to actually win a NC? Personally, I didn't see the Jimmy's and Joe's there to get it done (especially at LB and secondary). But yeah, there was enough there to win the conference this year and they were 5 points away from getting there. Definite frustration.

With the unrestricted portal, I think every year is an opportunity though tbh if you have an organization who can bring in the talent.

I turned it off
Lol
I still think ACC is toast w the alignment

ESPN
They have 💯 control
And they will MAKE SURE their narrative plays out and that these blue bloods advance EVERY year
Exactly. The SEC, and now Big 10, being the best and in the future the only 2 power conferences, is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The networks control the money and the narrative, and that has impacted recruiting and revenue over the years to where a small advantage became a very real, very big chasm. It basically snowballed and those two conferences continued poaching stronger teams, which the media companies touted and overemphasized, and round and round.

Best positioned ACC team? Would that be like being the tallest munchkin in the Wizard of Oz?

We all wear orange and green glasses, but to think the Canes would make a run in the playoffs with the 2024 defense on the field is just not realistic IMO.
Jennings completely ****ed SMU. He threw 3 awful INT in the 1st 18 minutes. 2 in the redzone, 2 were a pic 6. Not to mention an awful read on 4th down early in the redzone that cost them. Our defense is dog water. Cam would have crushed PSU.

For the ACC to be such a crap league, we sure as **** do our part to furnish this idea.

The irony of it all is back in 2004 when we were invited, it was assumed we would bring notoriety, & prestige to the league, creating TV ratings that would rival OU v. Texas, UGA v. Bama, OSU v. UofM, & SC v. UCLA. We were supposed to be a two-for w/ FSU, once in the reg. season, & once in the ACCCG.

The ACC actually did right by us, putting us in arguably the weakest division in all of the P5 conferences, & somehow we’ve found a way to **** on ourselves since 2004:

-2004: Ranked #4 in the nation & lose back to back games to 6-6 UNC & 6-5 Clemson. Even with those loses, all we had to do was win out since we held the tie breaker over FSU, & at home we lost 16-10 to VT. (I was there).

-2005: OK, we start off the schedule funky w/ an opening season lost to FSU. No worries, we smoke our schedule, including beating #3 VT at their house. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS WIN OUT, & we lose to 7-5 GT. Once again, failure.

-2008: Brutal schedule, but the ACC Coastal was cannibalizing itself. Despite our overall record, we controlled our own destiny to steal an ACCCG bid, but nope, once again we lose to GT, in Paul Johnson’s 1st yr, & then w/ the chef’s kiss, lose to a 6-7 NCSt. the following week.

-2024: All we had to do was…

So I’m not really interested after 20 yrs of our own incompetence constantly blaming the ACC for everything. We’ve done our part in disgracing this conference. We were the hottest brand & had the world in our palms, including this suck *** conference. Also, our suck *** previous AD & current AD agreed to arguably the worst media contract in the history of sports.

So my ? is this; if for 20 yrs we couldn’t win this bytch, & only played in its title game one time, what’s going to happen if we moved to the B1G?
Train Wreak..

I mean, did anyone think the last two p4 seeds were going to have a chance?

Soooooo we've gained valuable expertise in choking???...
I hate reality.... Reading your posts lately is damaging my soul.... LMAO!!!.. 🤣🤣

If anything, we need to win our bowl game convincingly. Establish to the TV crowd that Miami is still a winning brand. To me this is the next step for us. In a way, not being in the playoff was a gift. We have a better chance of looking like a powerhouse on 12/28. Just hope Cam shows out. That excitement will give us the momentum into next year. Plus…Pop Tarts

Sucks that we won't have Arroyo or Williams at TE for the bowl.

The 12 team playoff would’ve been perfect for the P5 conferences with how they were. Easiest fix right now would be to give top 4 seeds a bye but only give conference champs an auto bid.

That would’ve gave us:

5. ND Vs 12. Clemson (Winner plays PSU)
6. Ohio state Vs 11. Arizona state (Winner plays Texas)
7. Tennessee Vs 10. SMU (winner plays UGA)
8. Indiana Vs 9. Boise state (winner plays Oregon)

This also would’ve been much more competitive than what round 1 was for us this year. Also would’ve prevented the 5 seed having a much easier path than the 1 seed or 2 seed or even 3 seed
