Is the ACC finished?

For the ACC to be such a crap league, we sure as **** do our part to furnish this idea.

The irony of it all is back in 2004 when we were invited, it was assumed we would bring notoriety, & prestige to the league, creating TV ratings that would rival OU v. Texas, UGA v. Bama, OSU v. UofM, & SC v. UCLA. We were supposed to be a two-for w/ FSU, once in the reg. season, & once in the ACCCG.

The ACC actually did right by us, putting us in arguably the weakest division in all of the P5 conferences, & somehow we’ve found a way to **** on ourselves since 2004:

-2004: Ranked #4 in the nation & lose back to back games to 6-6 UNC & 6-5 Clemson. Even with those loses, all we had to do was win out since we held the tie breaker over FSU, & at home we lost 16-10 to VT. (I was there).

-2005: OK, we start off the schedule funky w/ an opening season lost to FSU. No worries, we smoke our schedule, including beating #3 VT at their house. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS WIN OUT, & we lose to 7-5 GT. Once again, failure.

-2008: Brutal schedule, but the ACC Coastal was cannibalizing itself. Despite our overall record, we controlled our own destiny to steal an ACCCG bid, but nope, once again we lose to GT, in Paul Johnson’s 1st yr, & then w/ the chef’s kiss, lose to a 6-7 NCSt. the following week.

-2024: All we had to do was…

So I’m not really interested after 20 yrs of our own incompetence constantly blaming the ACC for everything. We’ve done our part in disgracing this conference. We were the hottest brand & had the world in our palms, including this suck *** conference. Also, our suck *** previous AD & current AD agreed to arguably the worst media contract in the history of sports.

So my ? is this; if for 20 yrs we couldn’t win this bytch, & only played in its title game one time, what’s going to happen if we moved to the B1G?

And we couldn’t even get to the championship game
That’s the most frustrating part for me in all this. SMU and Clemson, who were supposedly the cream of the crop in our conference, just got absolutely humiliated on national TV. We had the #1 offense and a Heisman caliber QB and still couldn’t even make it to the conference championship game. Truth be told, with the talent we have and the fact that our conference is full of a bunch of “mid” teams, we should be absolutely running through the ACC right now…especially with FSU being garbage as well. When you look at our schedule next year compared to this year, the fact that we had a historic offense, and that the majority of our offense will be gone, it just feels like we missed out on a huge opportunity this year. That’s why, even though we finished 10-2, this season feels like a failure to some of us. Just very, very frustrating and I’ll leave it at that.

you guys cherry pick stuff though. ACC teams beat up some SEC teams too. Let's be real. WWE refs had to save UGA from GA Tech.
We beat up UF, L-ville murdered a UK team that has given all the SEC trouble.
ACC is 3-9 vs the SEC this year with 2 games to go.. ,

You and I know what happens, we become mid as ****. So essentially nothing changes.

Also, people need to quit *****ing about the media hates us. They were sucking us off until two last second wins against Cal and VT. Even then, they didn't jump off until after we finished the season going 1 for 3. Voters aren't perfect, but those losses don't inspire confidence that a team is peaking or getting better.

Even then, I think we still make it in until Clemson beat SMU.

We screwed up and everyone here knows that any game could be a win or a loss. They're sure to be a shootout and I'm sorry, you don't get in because your number one claim is that you've got a great offense.

The solution isn't the Big or SEC, again, we'll be mid as **** there.

Bleiheck will bring attention to ACC. I think Fran Brown has Cuse on the right track.
L-ville will be solid. Im not sold on SMU. It seems Dabo's best days are behind him,
but we need FSU to get a real coach. The middle of our conference is fine.
SEC is super overrated. UGA had refs save them from being 5 loss team.
I wish ACC was able to get ND on board in past.
Super Overrated ? Yes, by ESPN/ABC (Disney) and that all that matters; ACC is cheap programming filler. The B10 has Fox, CBS, and NBC now and ND has NBC and road games that will be on the aforementioned networks. Streaming? Amazon? Netflix? You seen the NBA ratings only now having the spotlight shown on them? TNF has finally turned the corner in part due teams like the Lions being good this year. Netflix has RAW now, they will see how that works out before jumping on board Wake Forest vs. NC State (LOL).

Without a move to the P2, Miami football is headed to near irrelevancy. Foretold this back in 2016, people now just catching up...

Without some kind of cost control, there will be an eventual end to college football with the same eight to nine or so teams again and again cratering ratings and bringing on the last act...The executioner will be the same media conglomerates and their conference toadies that started pushing it to the slaughter house back in the second decade of the 2000s.

I want us in the big 10 because im sick of the ACC trying to job us every single week. we are a national brand and they actively hate us.

Brother if you fall for the media ploys that's on you. The big 10 RIGHT NOW Is the best conference in football top to bottom and has been for several years. Also I'm certainly not of the belief that the two best teams in the ACC made it to the playoffs. **** happens though so that's what we got. Only people who actually believed smu is so great is our own fanbase. Not for one second was I impressed by them.
Media ploys? Lmao

All I know is almost every 5 star this year went to either the Big 10 or SEC. That alone should tell you where the ACC ranks. If Miami was in either conference I believe we would get our fair share of those 5 star players yearly.

Agreed, it prevents the "by the end of the decade" irrelevancy the ACC is so graciously providing us now, but doesn't address the fundamental long term un-sustainability of the CFB business model. The transparency of the NIL vice "bags$" and the transfer with no sit out, has shifted a lot of the power to the players (employees/collective bargaining next) but that is just as bad as boosters, administrators and a feckless NCAA picking who to investigate (or hang a "cloud" over). Those with the $$$ win, but the size of those with this spending capability grows smaller and smaller...

if Deon went to FSu and Belihick is at UNC, it will draw attention to ACC. that's the only hope.

Yes, need to jump into the SEC or Big10 to stay relevant with player question/ publicity/ CFP potential. As much as I hate the SEC there are percs of joining.

We have Miami being Miami to draw these guys to our program, so why are some NOT joining? Money we cant control how much we receive BUT a visit to Miami 100% can get players to make their minds especially with a great conference and coaches.

CFB is stupid right now. Teams like SMU and Indiana got the favor of missing all the top teams in their conference.

neither Clemson or SMU played GT or Syracuse. They’d absolutely walk away with a loss that put us in if they played those two games.

I’m not complaining about Miami missing out because that’s on us. I’m saying the sport is ruined with 18 team conferences. This will happen to better teams every year until it’s fixed

We’d probably be at eight win team most years. Not much different than now.

Only benefit is the added revenue by being a member of one of the two super conferences rather than on the outside looking in. Also could improve recruiting since it seems the SEC and BIG get the majority of the talent. At least they did this past cycle. Miami would no longer compete against them, but with them.

What remains to be seen whether we have the organization and staff to take advantage. I have no doubt we are on an upward trajectory with Mario, but I’m not sure what the ceiling is. Too early to tell. As members of the ACC, we may be close to that ceiling.
