Its amazing how people just cant be objective when they go overboard with bullsh*t. Now the team was utter garbage. We still managed to go 9-4, in Division 1 football, and in the ACC. Something we hadnt done in SOME years. So it couldnt have been THAT f8cking bad. I mean we were ranked in the top 25 for half the season. And guess what f*cknuts, that included the COACHES poll, so many HCs out there felt we were more than just a pile of dogsh*t. There were FSU players after the game in Tally saying we were the best team they had played and that we played them **** tough.

Look, this doesnt have to be one extreme or the other. No one is claiming this was some superstar team with Duke. BUT, Duke was the heart and soul of the offense, and our best player on either side of the ball, anyone claiming that losing him was not DEVASTATING, is full of SH*T. Period. And Im not claiming that we would have won 11 games if Duke doesnt get hurt, but I think we would have been much more competitive in those games. I think we have a decent shot to beat VT and Duke. No running game = fast paced offense all on SM's shoulders, which led to the defense being on the field the whole game. A terrible defense at that.

Things are going to be a LOT better next year. Getting Duke back, having Yearby, and Gus with a year of experience and another offseason of working out and learning the offense, will give us a LOT more depth at the position than we had this year. Throw in Powell in situational work, and our offense has MUCH deeper dimensions than it did this year. I also think RW is going to give the offense many more options, utilizing the TE more, the flats, the middle of the field, throwing to our backs, slot guys, and be able to get first downs.

If we can just get the **** defense fixed, I think this team will be very competitive.

No one here is claiming AG is some great coach, or that he's definitely going to win big here. But we have a lot of talent coming in. Talent that we simply DID not have before. At WORST, I hope that AG may be able to leave this team as stocked as Butch did. Because frankly, all the b*tching and sH8t people here are saying, are the same things people were saying about Butch in 98 and 99.

Most of the guys you posted were DBs. Team cant field a defense of all DBs. We have no talent along the DL, AQM was a true Frosh. How many True Frosh making a big impact on the DL anywhere? As far as returning, our LB corps was totally DECIMATED when we lost EJ, Terry and Paul. Bush was also coming back from a major injury and was never 100% all year. And top that off with the fact that just having talented starters, which we didnt at many positions, doesnt get you through a whole season, but you need DEPTH. Without DEPTH, the wheels come off late in the year, when your best guys are hurt, tired, and cant keep playing at their best. Kind of like how our defense fell apart late in the year. Guys like Highsmith and Gaines were barely Division I level players, and were starting for us. That's a sign you have a major personnel/talent problem. No one is saying we dont have schematic/coaching issues, but this was a very thin, and untalented defense. What talent we have is mostly young except for 2 guys, one of which was being used in the wrong position, because we dont have anyone else any better. Lets not go into drooling idiot mode now and start suggesting that this was anything but a mess of a defense as far as talent goes.

The atrocity that is our defense. None of what u said explain it. They were terrible as soon as we entered conference play. You know after the sav st fau usf etc. U know when No D and Golden were beating their chest about defensive improvements. Out coached by WF and GT at home. No depth problems and fatigue. And it continued all season with the exclamation of the trouncing by UL. And like I said we are not bad we are atrocious. Rap your mind around that concept. Atrocious, 2 years in a row. Cant stop a QB that can throw a ball forward. Everybody turns into Brady against us. Commentators calling things out which we proceed to do and get killed. No D is gonna get fired. Its "attacking" Highsmith, Gaines and Cornelius by pointing out their lack of talent? Gaines' best offer other than UM was from Buffalo. Highsmith was a legacy. I dont think its "attacking" them to simply point out their lack of skill. I dont think they are bad guys, and they tried hard, but we saw what they were. I dont think there is anything wrong with legit criticism of Golden. But this has become a non stop sh*tshow of people name calling and insulting and spewing venom about everything the guy says or does. There is room for plenty of legit criticism, but everything now is just idiotic complaining and looking for anything to trash the staff. Its way over the top.

Its the same thing when people are putting up the statistics of the defense No D has coached here. You know simple facts. No D is as bad a coach as highsmith and Gaines are players. Our players have looked worse and worse . All since you been watching Miami there were two things you could count on our D for. Getting sacks and getting tfls. As soon as Golden and No D show up it magically disappears.....immediately. NOTHING to do with talent, quit lying. Clemson amd FSU are the only two teams who wouldn't take 70% of our roster. Golden is not Butch brah, he is Ron Zook. He will get jobs as a good communicator and when found out he will run for the hills like he tried to do and couldnt even own up to it. Whatever is coaching deficiencies all respect went out the door and am just waiting it out. Quote me on that.

Tbh, for what this man did to lead the athletic department through the entire shapiro 3 year ****-storm, while loosing players to draft and transfers, Al Golden deserves 5 years. We have no idea what the defense will look like once we have "stocked the shelves" top to bottom with talented players. He was dealt a bad hand to begin with, ontop of the incredible media coverage they have down in coral gables.
If the D continues to fail then hes got to let Dno go. His mentorship to kids who have their odds stacked against them since past generations arrived is a blessing in disguise.

I just don't know what YOU saw this year with our cupcake schedule, that would come EVEN CLOSE to instilling you with such optimism and confidence we could remotely compete for the "whole **** thing" anytime, EVER-- with Golden and his handpicked, best friend, bulletproof Defensive Coordinator he refuses to cut loose.

GOD bless you Tex, but I'm supremely confident you will not only be "wrong," but sadly disappointed and frustrated as me come 2015.

I think with this recruiting class (when they are sophomores), that 2015 is our year. Yes, people have been saying for years "next year is the year" but just take a look at this recruiting class... so many of our needs have been met (assuming they sign with UM)... we will have three real possible starters at QB next year... our O-line is set for the future... assuming Duke stays another two years, we are set there for the next 4 years at RB... and our incoming class (with Valentine) on the defense has to be top 5. I feel good about this team and this coach.

TX-- It doesn't matter how much "talent" we bring in, this coaching staff cannot coach them up. The defensive scheme is horrible, the production on the field is horrible. Coley may be able to recruit but he cant game plan or make in game adjustments while calling the game to save his life. No on the job training here, sorry.

Q: How many of your "if's" have to go right for this to actually happen!? (HINT- ALL of them). Valentine is 50% at best-- and I haven't seen or heard anything that leads me to believe you Golden boy has done squat since his 3 day radio silence to get this kid back in the fold. Al is many things, and an okay coach, but he isn't what we expect or need, and to me he's reach his ceiling--- he'll get us 8-9 wins and lose (in an ugly fashion) to legitimate teams, and we'll continue to struggle against teams we should clearly dominate. Because he and his ill prepared staff will be outcoached like they were 5-6 games this year with our cup cake schedule.

I could go on & on, but you're entitled to your opinion. I shake my head and wonder what it is you see and I don't. HOPE is not a plan Tex.

regardless of whether or not it's al's scheme. dorito calls the blitzes, dorito calls in adjustments, dorito is in charge of personnel on defense, dorito calls in certain formations according to offensive alignment. Al (as long with any other head coach) just gives the coach a guideline to try to stick to.
