I liked Golden, but I had ZERO faith in Onofrio. Golden's inability to make the necessary changes on Defense plus flirting with PSU have really destroyed my trust in him. I'm on the Bring Back Butch Davis Bandwagon now

I wonder if Golden's decision to not can Dorito when interviewing for the Penn State job is what sunk his chances there? If so, then he does not have what it takes to win big in college football.

All things being considered, Al has done a lot of good for the program including recruiting, NCAA mess and keeping program alive. At the end of the day, Al has been consistently outcoached on game day. The jury is still out whether he can develop players. He will be given time by an administration that wants the program to be pristine, first and foremost. Currently CFB is driven by big money which is impossible for the U to compete with if they were even willing, which they are not.

His own alma mater didn't want him and in the end used his name as leverage to get the coach they did want. Tells you all you need to know about Golden's "trending" reputation in the college football world
