Hurns' Dad

By the way, the real stud in all of this is Coach McDonald. That man can coach WR's. If the WR's want to beat their girlfriends or act a fool just give this man a new talent to work with and watch them shine. ACCOUNTABILITY! The country club atmosphere is gone...

No one forced Hurns to play in that game.

This isn't the ******* military.

Get over it.

Can you blame him? While I agree that we should be self-imposing a bowl, we should have done it at the beginning of the year. This was managed very poorly.

You cant self impose before you qualify. You have to be bowl eligible first. Lol

Not true.

We could've self-imposed at the beginning of the season.

Issue with this I think we would've tanked the whole season.

The ncaa can ban you at the beginning of the season. You cannot self impose until you qualify.

And Papa Hurns would have called Sedano *****ing about why we didn't self impose this year if his son missed out on playing in a bowl game his SR year because the NCAA decided to give us a bowl ban for not taking one this year.

These cats are never happy. Short term instant gratification thinkers.

We are not getting a third year ban, USC did worse things than Miami, they got two.

What's he so mad about? Hurns is a JR. He still has another year of eligibility and next year, we have the chance to actually be special. Hurns could be the premiere WR of a REAL BCS team, not the joke we are this year.

Problem is our AD said this doesnt mean we wont impose a THIRD bowl ban next year either. I think that is the main part handled wrong, I dont know if our acting AD wasnt prepared for the question but that leaves alot, ALOT of room for interpretation. I think the university should have said they would not impose a third when they came out with this. They should have used this as a platform for standing up for itself. Right now its like we have no spine and do whatever the will of NCAA and we can still end up getting screwed.

That open doors for major negative recruiting and it leaves the juniors to think why even play next year because no one will give them a straight answer. Golden wont say sh*t, AD already said he wont deny that we can impose a third, Manny from the herald is already throwing the question at Stephen Morris. I can understand why a guy like Hurns father is mad because his son is basically a junior and up in limbo

I'd be pretty ****ed. And, if it was your son, you'd be, too.

Not if you're able to see the big picture and how it affects the school - not just Allen Hurns. These parents are incapable of seeing it, unfortunately.

USC infractions was based largely on one guy. We've got allegations on almost 70 players. Yes, I know most of them are fabricated but one can argue that our transgressions proliferated at much deeper levels than USc.

Not true, TT did it in 97

More than just one player and 3 sports, not 2 like we had. They also had coaches lie to the NCAA and paying at least one other player. They denied many many things, we are working with the NCAA to find out the truth, USC didn't. 70 players if you believe a criminal!

Yup, I'm sure they should take a bowl ban next year when we go 9-3 or 10 and 2. I'd imagine the same posters and Dads would be in melt down mode if that happened. I can see it now, why didn't we take a bowl ban last year when the team was rebuilding, lol.

His son just went out onto the football field with a real injury with the risk of further injury, and played because he had something to play for...and it was for nothing.

I'd be pretty ****ed. And, if it was your son, you'd be, too.

Im w/you Larry. We are all looking at self imposing as the best decision for the university long term. I bet Mr Hurns & SOME parents of current players may be thinking "what about my kid who's here now giving his blood, sweat & tears?" Are these future recruits more special? Why is my kid who did nothing wrong, the sacrificial lamb?"
Dont get me wrong im on the record as saying self impose...but i can understand how a parent would feel

If I really thought we could do that fast, I could agree with you. Unfortuanately our DL isn't going to become dominant with the guys coming back, the backup LB are the same, and we still lack depth everywhere. Add in an inconsistent QB who is unlikely to become more accurate (smarter, better decisions, but if he hasn't figured out how to throw those short passes on target consistently by now it isn't happening) and I see an 8-4 team at best.

Every player on the D-line besides Porter and Robinson are true Sophomores. You don't think True Sophomores are going to get any better? GTFOOH!

Briscoe, Ivery, and Moore aren't going to get any better despite the fact that every player on the roster is getting better? LOL! Porter and Pierre are going to be a great 1st string tandem if Porter stays healthy this offseason. Then you have Robinson, King, Moore, Briscoe, and Ivery battling for second string? That doesn't even include the freshmen that will be in this next class. The future is very bright on defense. Just because this JV defense didn't dominate this season doesn't mean they won't make a huge leap for next season.

You know **** well though, it ain't just Allen Hurns and his parents. The big picture is, you have a generation of 'Canes where its all about NEXT YEAR...NEXT YEAR...NEXT YEAR...and for a lot of those players, "NEXT YEAR" never came or will never come...the same with 'Canes fans...its all about next year...and as you know, we're working on a decade of "Next Year" never coming. Perhaps, the "big picture" never comes into focus.

For "these parents" probably understand the circumstance, but see it differently than you or even I...they, as well as their children, are sacrificing for a school that isn't sacrificing for them. They are paying the piper for something they had nothing to do with. That is a bitter pill to swallow. Couple that without notice of these post-season bans until near the last game of the season two seasons in a row, with no real option to leave like Penn State and USC students received...you are asking a lot of grace from people with actual skin in this game.

You and I are fans and perhaps alumnus...but there is another side to this, that when put into perspective is pretty ****ed up for those involved. JMO, I guess.
