Heisman Race

Someone help me here. I do not watch Oregon games. Ward has much better numbers then Gabriel. Both teams are undefeated. We all know Ward has had several Heisman moments and has made plays that seemingly no other player can make besides maybe Sanders. All the highlights I have seen of Gabriel are not jaw dropping in any way. He seems to be just another player in a well oiled machine. What exactly am I missing here, now that Gabriel is the betting favorite to win?

#1 team in country, beat *, plays in big ten now so they have money and marketing/tv dollars/politics behind it also.

It’s because they’re #1

He’s playing well but more importantly he’s been playing better week to week as the team has climbed to #1

according to Fan Duel, it's travis Hunter, Dillon Gabriel , Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty in that order

I just watched Josh Pate and he talked about this a bit

A couple of points:
= He thinks that Jeanty playing in the Mountain West will hurt him
-He also thinks that Travis Hunter likely NOT playing on Championship Saturday will hurt him if the other three are playing

His gut tells him Dillon Gabriel wins the Heisman.

Not Inday, but…

Of course Cam winning the Heisman would be incredible on every level for the U.

Of course we all want that.

Realistically, however, Cam needs video game numbers to win. Taking what the defense gives us, at this point, is unlikely to give Cam the kind of stats he needs to win that award. More games like FSU (3TD win) takes Cam out of the running. So does Dawson press? Does Cam?

I hope Cam wins the Heisman. I’m rooting for Cam to win the Heisman.

But I also recognize that trying to get Cam the Heisman can be at odds with putting the team in the best position to win.

If you think putting the ball in Cam’s hands and throwing it 40+ times/game is always and unquestionably the best strategy, I say ok but maybe rewatch the Cal game and get back to me.

Gabriel plays nobody the next 4 weeks. **** likely pad his stays and they’ll stay undefeated.

We’ll play 2 pretty decent defenses coming up.

Who knows what happens, but if Cam keeps up the pace I think he wins.

Cam slipped because of not throwing any TDs last game

It’s fluid every week based on how well a player plays or doesn’t

Cam puts up his regular 3-4 TD, 300+ yards and no turnovers he’ll be back to 1st

But it’s a tight race right now

The conference championship game will probably be the deciding factor, whoever plays the best that game

They're not going to have to.
Are u thinking Cam will ***** himself by pressing or more like Cristobal & Dawson's game plans for the next couple of games won't help him... More FSU type game plans....
Or Canes will lose and that will be the end..

you nailed it. Good QB but he isn't great. When he left Oklahoma, sooner fans weren't too sad about it (they are now). I like Gabriel but this is more cause he's the starting QB for the number 1 team. Cam Ward in a different level.

Ward has been responsible for 33 TDs (passing, running, receiving). People like to see big milestone numbers. 50 is one that pops. IMO, he needs 50 to be certain of winning the Heisman. As another people pointed out, now that Oregon is B1G, Gabriel will get more favorable treatment because of the perception he beat better teams. He’s not nearly the QB that Ward is but he gets more credit than he deserves for Oregon being #1. Ward has to overcome that. So there are 4 games left for Wards Heisman resume. 3 regular season, 1 ACC championship.

He needs 17 more TDs (can be any type). He could easily pass for 3 and rush for 1 TD over the next 4 games. That puts him at 49. Another 5 TD game somewhere in there, and he hits 50.
