Heisman Race

I listen to a TON of college football podcasts - along with a couple other random sports podcasts - like the Ryen Russillo show. It is pretty annoying how so many people are saying it is Travis Hunter’s trophy because we shouldn’t revert to just giving it to a good qb on a good team. What Cam is doing this year is not just a good player on a good team. He is spectacular. If what Hunter is doing is so special to all these media members- why the **** didn’t you try to give it to him last year? What has Hunter done that is so different this year than last year ? An extra 4 snaps a game on each side of the ball? Russillo (who is an admitted LSU homer) thought Daniels was spectacular last year and de served the Heisman.. but this year with Cam? Nah, just a normal good qb- where as 2024 HUNtEr IS definitely deserving. Makes no sense.

Jayden Daniels last year kinda objectively had a better season than Cam is having with the major exception of W/L record.

This is what I tried to say earlier, not sure how but on a bye week travis basically jumped to #1 spot after cam played and threw for 400 yards and 5 TDs. That is insane, on bye week Cam might have to go on media blitz because I never seen that before..

Plus with Clemson losing and iowa st losing, it opens door for Colorado to play on championship saturday, hopefully they stumble.

Today is why.

Cam is awesome but he’s just not consistent enough to put the game on his arm week in and week out when we have other options.

The reality is that the probability of an upset is reduced with a run-first ball control offense when playing lesser competition. We can’t win 2 games in the playoffs with a run first ball control offense, but the likelihood of getting there at this point increases the more “tuff & physical” we are the next 4 games.

Cam is brilliant and amazing but he doesn’t consistently do the easy things and he’s not immune to making costly mistakes. But he wont sniff the Heisman without 350+ ypg and 3 TD/gm… the pursuit of which can end up with a Cal first half situation.

So while I would love to see Cam win the Heisman, I tend to agree with @IndayArtHauz

So… do people owe @IndayArtHauz an apology?

Martinez averaged 5.4/carry against GT. A little more ball control offense with a philosophy of taking the points rather than pressing, I think we win that game.
