Haynes King announced as captain vs Miami

That game shouldn’t have been that close. We aren’t destroying anyone like the discussion has been about. Miami did what it had to do, nothing more or less. We barely covered the spread.

But go ahead and pound that chest struggling with Duke most of the game…
You're a great poster but this is some bs right here. Dude said 3tds and you chirped about the last two games.. games that were won by 3tds and if you were at the games you know fsu scored absolute garbage td or it would have been 4tds and it's pretty much the same for the duke game. Take the L and keep it moving.

I disagree. @Hurracanes is an OK poster 😎 but the expectations going into both those games was: boat races because "Mario is taking this one personal" or some bull****. Both games were wins, by a solid margin, but not the domination predicted.

I will say this- the GT “kneel that wasn’t” was widely considered one of the most idiotic coaching decisions in history. Maybe topping Pete Carrolls call to pass on the goal line instead of handing the ball to Lynch. Even then, there was some very thin justification based on metrics. I didnt see all that much motivation for revenge on Cristobal’s part against Duke. Diaz is the one that got fired. On the other hand, it can’t feel good knowing that when “top 10 worst coaching decisions” lists are released, Cristobal vs GT clocks in at #1. Would be motivated to have the mention followed by “But the next year, Cristobal got his revenge by giving GT its worst loss in program history.”

lol ok but 3 tds is 3tds.. and if fsu doesn't score in the last minute against backups it's a 30 point win? that's domination to me. Duke came up with some **** and somehow came up with a lead at halftime.. but they got dominated in the second half and that was about to be a 30 point win also. Would I have loved to see 60 on both of them? Sure, but they still got belt to ***. And I'm talkin the merry go round type belt to *** where the kid is jumping and running to avoid the beating.

Neither game was like how 01 Miami team destroyed Washington 65-7 payback beat down

I was actually there for both. Duke was leading by 10 midway into the 3rd. You want to pound your chest about that then be my guest but we aren’t blowing people out how we should be.

I def get what you’re saying. Having to come back from being down to a trash Duke team, being tied with Louisville, and only up 10 at half to FSU isn’t what comes to mind when thinking of dominating an opponent

Our defense is allowing the opponent to convert 4th downs at almost a 60% successful rate. On both of FSU's scoring drives, they converted a 4th down to extend the drive. VT, Cal, Louisville, FSU, and Duke have all scored TD's on drives where they converted a 4th down to extend the drive, or scored a TD on the 4th down play.
This is why the analytics say to go for it in fourth down way more often than teams do. Teams punt on fourth and two all the time. Getting two or three yards should be easy for most offenses. Offensive coordinators turn 4th down plays into these huge productions when they should be called just like any other play

I believe offenses in general are converting 4th down at a higher positive rate than ever before. Our offense is 10-13 this year for 77% success rate. Now, the majority of our 4th down attempts are on 4th and short. Not sure how many have been 4th and 1, but we are getting those this year, and we would get stonewalled on those over the last 20 years. Helps having Martinez who rarely goes down on 1st contact and falls forward every time he's tackled.

Our defense gets the double whammy of not being particularly great and having to face fourth downs all the time because punting against us is suicide. You’re only going to get so many possessions to keep up with our offense. You need to try to score on every possession.

It was great to finally get some turnovers against Duke. We’re just not going to get a ton of stops the traditional way

Ga Tech players talk about Miami offense and Cam:

Georgia Tech senior safety Clayton Powell-Lee :

“We have been preaching plastering for when he does his little magic thing because it’s crazy what he can do when he extends plays,” “We’ve just been harping on any time you see him out the pocket, find the nearest guy and make sure he doesn’t have those windows where he could just make a huge play. That’s been the biggest thing for us as a secondary.”

Romello Height:

“Has had a great pocket presence in every game that I’ve watched on film, so it’s going to be critical to get to him in the backfield and keep him caged. Because he can stretch a play out seven or eight seconds.”
