Golden Presser 11/10 & some QAM quotes 11/11

Morris blows we all know it. He is not a qb material. He is not a leader and he doesn't have that it factor. I will be very glad when he is gone.

@ByTimReynolds: Golden says Morris was victimized by five drops.

@ByTimReynolds: Golden says playing man in third-down didn't work in certain situations ... "we've got to fight through"

@ByTimReynolds: Golden says in 23 years, he never saw things unravel as quickly as they did last night.

@ByTimReynolds: Golden on guys sticking with their training: "More important now than ever."

@ByTimReynolds: Golden got asked if Miami should play more man. He says they played more man than any time this year last night.

@ByTimReynolds: Golden: "Perhaps man-to-man is not the best way to defend a running quarterback. ... Circumstance of the game changed a lot of things."

If we were in man a lot which I doubt then we should all be worried. So many guys were wide open I couldn't believe it. I swear we were in zone most of the time.

Tired of the excuses. Always blames the execution. This coming from someone who likes Golden.

How about the fact that a LBer is one on one with a WR in space?

Or a S line up inside is one on one with a WR outside the hash?

Or the fact that our play calling on both sides is so predictable?

Sittuation where a player is put in an impossible situation to succeed.

bout to start calling him Barack golden, dude spins it every single time...it ain't 'freelancing' anymore, him and his boy r getting exposed as frauds

People need to stop saying the fan base is turning on Golden. That isn't the case. I think fans are calling bull **** when they see it, and once again, we saw it last night. I think Golden is a smart man and I believe he will make an executive decision on his boy, the question is when will he do it? I think it is evident that Golden is losing his defensive players. The kids do not believe in what they are doing, and rightfully so. It's time for some serious change.

This is and only this

I saw plenty of man.
Biggest 3rd down in 4th qtr when VT was trying to run the clock. 3rd and 7. Press man. Slant 10 yards. Game over.

How can you fire your best friend? This isn't an easy one.

I like Al but his stubbornness is starting to scare me.
I know he has a well documented plan but he has got to make adjustments on the run (like a good qb has to).
The process needs to be less rigid, he doesn't have all the answers in his book.
He seems to be loyal to a fault. He has to learn to bite the bullet and make changes for the betterment of the team.
I know he can do this thing but I am looking for signs of ruthless leadership. I have Saban in mind.

It's business not personal

another problem is when you are in man and have a lb covering the slot.. mismatch all day

Agree with him about the man coverage. IF we had played man coverage then THomas would have ran for 150 yards and you'd all be ****ing about why we played man against a running QB. Lose/lose situation.

I have no idea how the rest of college football managed to make Logan Heisman and that vaunted VT offense the 100th ranked offense prior to us. They must have guessed right or just got lucky.

Al B. Zook is flailing with his explanations.

LOL

I didn't expect him to throw Coach D under the bus, Nick Saban wouldn't. I just Coach D and Jethro Franklin gone at the end of the season and to win out.

Golden is the CEO of this team and is being paid to make the hard decisions necessary to get the team where it needs to be. That's why he gets the big bucks. Competent CEO's make tough decisions every day, removing poorly performing personnel, changing procedures and strategies as necessary to get where they want to be. It's why a lot of non-CEO folks think their bosses are uncaring and hard-hearted. As a poster said above, it's business, nothing personal. As anyone who has had to fire someone for nonperformance can tell you, it isn't easy but it comes with the territory. If you can't make the tough decisions, do yourself (and your fellow employees) a favor and don't take the job. We will see if Golden has what it takes to be the team's CEO. I think he does but time will tell.

Couple of quotes from QAM interview this morning:

"been in college football since 1987 never seen 3 plays impact the game like it did vs. VT" (2 fumbles and punt attempt)

"coming in the goal was to get to 30 pts against VT defense"

"..had to move away to the gameplan and be more aggressive"

"game plan coming in was to allow Logan to sit in the pocket"

"its not just about Mark D; its Mark, its defensive staff; defensive players"

"missed tackles in the end of the 1st half that ended up in a score were back breakers..

"at the end of the day its not about pointing fingers its about getting things better"

Regarding defense and fan calling for Coach D:
Defense has twice as many sacks as last year and increase TOs

stephen was victim of 5 drops

"I'm the ST coordinator, if you want to point the blame, blame me"

"I approve everything that happens with EVERY facet of the program PERIOD"

"the buck stops with me"

He's got the excuse machine fired up and rolling this morning. Smoke is shooting out of the Hecht Center as Golden tirelessly shovels coal into it.

"game plan coming in was to allow Logan to sit in the pocket"

Wut? Well, he sure succeeded at that - have him all day to throw!

This is exactly what I didn't want to hear. Yeah, those plays were huge and they were momentum changers. But I don't care if we have 9 turnovers, we should never allow this VT offense ranked 100and whatever to go for 550 yards on us. It's inexcusable. He can say whatever in public, but behind closed doors he best not be dismissing this defensive performance and blaming everything on the turnovers.

Again, Al, I love your integrity, but don't go down with Dorito.

I dont think people are necessarily jumping ship on Al, the problem is that the word is out on how to slaughter our defense! UNC layed the blueprint and every team has been following suit ever since. And to a greater degree each time. And NO adjustments are being made and oh btw, WE GOT DUKE next Saturday whos offense is BETTER then Vtech!

THATS what has us fans scared. These guys are living and dying with this thing. Franchise said alot will be told about this staff with the Vtech game. I am ready to say alot will be told about this staff these next 3 games. ESPECIALLY since we still have an outside shot to win 10 games and the ACC title if Vtech slips up. Im not ready to throw Al under the bus yet BUT if we dont end the regular season 10-2, I want someone fired mainly Donofrio and Jethro.
